Miller, however, suggested low turnout among black people could be connected to culture. “I don’t think that’s part of the way they’re raised,” she said. “For us, I mean, that was something we all did in our families, we all voted.”

Miller also dismissed the racial tensions of the 1960s, when she said she graduated from high school. “Growing up as a kid, there was no racism, believe me. We were just all kids going to school.”

Asked about segregation and the civil rights movement, she replied: “I never experienced it. I never saw that as anything.”

Miller added: “I don’t think there was any racism until Obama got elected. We never had problems like this ... Now, with the people with the guns, and shooting up neighborhoods, and not being responsible citizens, that’s a big change, and I think that’s the philosophy that Obama has perpetuated on America.”

Miller dismissed the suggestion that Trump was exploiting racist or prejudiced views among some voters as “the media making stuff up”. Instead, she said of the Republican nominee: “He’s very willing to talk about issues that have never been discussed publicly.”

When it was pointed out that some people might find her remarks offensive, Miller replied: “I don’t care, it’s the truth.”

White lady in the midwest didn't experience racism in the 60's. News at 11?

Maybe she didn't see the first black family move in to the neighborhood until 2008.

I'd say she needs to be called out and dragged over the coals for this, but who am I kidding with our media.

She's right. There probably was no racism at her school.

There probably weren't any minorities either. I wonder if those two things were connected at all.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if one of these days we get a Trump supporter who genuinely believes Obama was responsible for the American Civil war.

The sad thing is that this isn't the first time I've heard this.

I know one man who believes that "America was on the path to recovering from racism, but then Obama had to go and help out his "college buddy", sending the wrong message to black americans.", Specifically referring to the Henry Gates incident.

Trump will say back then we cared enough about black people to make sure they never caught on fire.. except when people were burning down black churches. But that was because the buildings didn't meet safety standards, so that in itself was also an attempt to protect black people. Nobody suspected that there was a chance any black people would actually be inside while they burned them. An honest mistake, clearly.

Its like everyone associated with Trump has an IQ of a pateto. Do they not remember uh, fucking slavery?

Quit blaming Obama for everything, all that is doing is making you seem dumber than you already are.

I would fcking hate for my brain to work like this. Just to be able to completely dismiss facts because "that's what I think."

What the fuck... How deep in a hole must you be in, to have lived through the 60s and say that? How god damn myopic is your world view? Jesus. Read a fucking paper lady.

So is she saying that white people weren't racist before Obama was elected and now they are? Obama's presidency did bring out the true colors of some people.
Based on her belief that there was no racism in the 60's she's talking about racism directed at white people.
