A Trump campaign chair in Ohio says there was 'no racism' before Obama

I swear some people think when slavery and segregation ended everything was fair and hunky dory.

Like those things didn't and still do have lingering affects.
Some people also seem to think that the Civil Rights movement was during the 1860's and emancipation happened in the 1500's.

Meanwhile, the candidate who shares those views is still in contention for the presidential office.
Yeah, funny how anyone associated with his campaign that says stupid shit like this seems to immediately get fired/resign, but Trump just keeps on trucking.

I was about to say. I had heard of holocaust denial. I hadn't heard that people denied that the civil rights era or slavery happened. That's a new one.
There was actually a big thread on GAF once where a guy denied the existence of the slave trade because we didn't have any boats left or something crazy.

I wonder how much white people who are Trump supporters agree with the racist shit said in American History X. Just watched that again for the first time in a few years.

And... she's gone.

So she's saying the campaign shouldn't be accountable for something a volunteer says, no matter how horrible and racist it is...

Hmmmm.... where have I heard the complete opposite of this in the last few days, particularly about the Hillary 2008 campaign and birtherism? hmmmm

Keep telling me Trump supporters aren't all racist imbeciles when these are the kinds of people his campaign recruits. Who the fuck else would they be reaching out to?

While racial tensions are certainly high at the moment, it's incredulous that someone would make this statement, in a nation where slavery was once legal, and where for a century after slavery was abolished we segregated blacks from whites.

But of course Trump followers will soak this up.

I would like for trump and/or his campaign define the concept of racism according to them.

Because it clearly menas something different from them than to the rest of, well, everyone,

This isn't just a Trump supporter thing, this is a Republican thing, a Tea Party thing, etc etc... She may have taken the sentiment to the illogical conclusion, but these racism is dead loons, or Obama has made racial relations worse fuckos has been widespread for awhile now.

So, basically, they should all resign for stoking these fires.

Well of course there's no racism when you only go to school with other white people. These people are completely delusional and live in a fantasy world.

"we only beat up a colored fella once, twice a month! things were great!"

I should've added she probably knows no black people and has never lived near them and hasn't had to think about them or the issues they face until Obama. Out of sight, Out of mind I guess.

And her resignation statement doesn't even retract any of what she said.

Was she really an official elector for Ohio?

I think she's just a chair person for the Trump campaign. Its not an elected position. She was probably given it because no one else wanted it honestly.

Where do all the Trump supporters on this forum go when his campaign says shit like this? Hide?

They hide or pretend they are voting 3rd party. You'll see them in other threads clamoring about their gun rights or money in politics and not giving two shits about anything else including the racism surround this campaign. They don't care. Not their problem.

The party chooses electors. Let's leave it at that...

That's terrifying

I only asked as her resignation statement said "I have resigned as the volunteer campaign chair in Mahoning County and as an elector to the Electoral College to avoid any unnecessary distractions."

It really sounds like this individual that this thread was made for was part of the electoral college to decide the next president. Now granted all but I think 2 states do winner takes all electoral wise [I.E. the candidate who gets popular vote of the state gets all the electoral votes] and Ohio isn't one of the exceptions but it's still scary to think about.

I'm surprised they didn't ask her about slavery.

Would have LOVED to hear how it wasn't about racism.

They were teaching a savage people the ways of civilized life. Gave them free food and board, all they asked for in return was a little help around the house.

Deal of a lifetime.

She was an elector for Trump. If Hillary wins Ohio she would not have been sent to cast her vote in the EC.

I cant believe this is real. I just cant.

I refuse to believe this is real.

The proliferation of social media was still in its infancy, so if you weren't affected by racism (being white), you probably didn't notice or were aware of it in every day life. Also, super shocked she's unaware of Rodney King and MLK and Malcolm X and well...the past several hundred years tbh. Then again, blaming a black man for inventing racism seems like something the Trump campaign and its supporters would believe.
