Gears of War 4 coming free with Nvidia 1070 & 1080s through Oct 30

Man... if this doesn't make Microsoft have good numbers on the Windows Store. Nothing might.

I mentioned this earlier in the thread. The MAU for Xbox should be ridiculous. Getting people to use the Windows Store so the bugs that are being brought up that they didn't catch in their own testing (realized by ReCore, Forza Horizon/Apex, Halo, etc...) to make it better. So PC Gamers can tell MS in more detail what they want and need to make the service better. Also so that MS Studios can help studios to make help their 2nd party games can be built better for PC. That's what I hope comes out of this.

Microsoft will tell us that they got good Windows Store Numbers

I think it would have had it regardless since Xbox Store = Windows Store.

OK GAF, to cut a long story short I have a spare code from the bonanza earlier. Anyone want for $11 Paypal? $10 I Paid + $1 for currency fees etc. (from the UK)

And if the buyer is from the U.K already, how much would you sell it for? £8
I already got one but asking for a friend.

But it links nvidia to your Microsoft/XBL account when you redeem the code. However, you can remove nvidia's permissions from your account after the game is activated.
Okay I done diddly removed Nvidia's permission.

Why are people paying for glitched codes? Either get a free code or buy the game. I doubt these codes will work anyways.

Wait. Why would I remove nvidia permission from my MS account?

To cut ties from them. The permissions you gave them was to redeem a code on your account. They redeemed the GoW4 code. Now you can get rid of their permissions to access your account. It's good for two things. Hopefully covering your ass if Microsoft/Nvidia tries to do something about it. The other is privacy they really don't need to be hooked up to your account for any reason.

Just in case Nvidia decide to double check things. The game was already added to the account, they don't need a persistent permission for you to keep the game.

Why would you think the codes wouldn't work when people have already downloaded the preorder bonuses and "preload to the preload" copies and saying that "You own this"? The codes work, nobody knows if it will be revoked or not.

Titan X Pascal users am cry
They did the same thing around the TW3 launch and then gave Titan X users TW3 for free anyway

Yup :(

Just picked two of these bad boys up on Thursday (even though I learned the day before that Gears would not be included).

I meant work on launch day. I would think they will get revoked but you never know.

Wow people are making bank with these codes with very little effort. I'm really curious how this is all gonna go down.

Exactly. People who are buying these for $10, $15, $20 are likely giving money to ppl who got these for free due to the glirch and risk not even have a working code come launch day. Pretty stupid...

Plausible deniability for when Microsoft start swinging the ban hammer.

/jk. Or am I.

Theft, scam, whatever the point is you are taking something intended as an add on to a purchase without any intention to actually buy the item it's bundled with.

So what about people who preorder just to get a beta code, and then cancel the preorder?

God damn it. I just bought a code on Kinguin this morning for $60 CAD (versus $80 CAD normally), and now I'm seeing this thread.

Jesus, and imagine he got his code using the glitch. That's insane profit even if he sold only three or four.

That's also not great, if they genuinely never intended to keep the pre order (though this is much worse). If they just change their mind, well that's fine.

I redeemed the code on Nvidias website, but now I don't know how to activate my game. What did you guys to get the game to appear on your Windows account?

edit: nevermind - I found it on the 'Store' app on my computer.

You are not alone. :-) I got a code from another gaffer on the BST thread for $45 USD, or about $62 CAD. Still, it's much better than $79.99 CAD + taxes.

When I bought the code, I didn't even know about the glitch or whatever, I was purchasing what someone was selling that I thought was legit (dude said he had it from a computer lab). I wouldn't even call that a glitch anyways. It seems like a coding design error. A glitch would presume that something happened because of something in the system that forced an error to occur. Seeing as this happened with Destiny and nothing was done about it, this seems to be by design. The only difference between this and Destiny is that the beta is free, Gears isn't.

I would presume that Amazon just stops giving people the preorder code until it ships and leave the rest and take the L.

And now I see some people on reddit giving out codes for free from their own GPUs. So much craziness out there.

I think that this thing is getting abused way too much though. They may revoke it just because of the craziness I see.

The Amazon glitch is still live as far as I know. Got one a little while ago. Stunning that this sucker is gonna be an 80 GB DL.

I assume someone just checked wrong box something like:

[x] Send Promo Instantly
[_] Send Promo after Shipped

It says that code is sent after shipped, and previous promos have just done that.

Sucks for those who paid for these stolen codes.

I bought it from a Gaffer who had many codes yesterday before all the craziness started for 40$. If it somehow comes out that these codes were cheesed (I have no idea if they are) and will be revoked I'm gonna be pissed. Hoping for the best though

I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask, so I live chatted with Newegg about my older 1070 order but they said it wasn't eligible for the promotion. They threw me a courtesy $20 gift card which was unexpected but a very nice gesture.

Nah man. I'm buying this the legit way. We want games on PC right? I ain't giving them a reason to think twice about releasing on PC.
