There's the raid, new strike, new gear, new hub and a new patrol zone.
There are newer and harder events. New pvp maps. Light Level has been increased.
This is more than just the simple answer of "only 6 hours worth of gameplay"
Call of Duty releases tons DLC with only a handful of new maps for the same price over and over and they almost never get ridiculed for it.

But the 6 hours is no where even close to representing all the content.
It isn't that unusual to see AAA games for standard retail price (not sure what that is in the US, but certainly more than $30) where the main game is around 8 hours, so that isn't actually all that bad.
I swear whenever someone does the "people don't complain about x" you can be sure there's complaints about x on a regular basis
CoD map packs have been a meme for years not to mention the more recent microtransactions

Where are people getting 6 hours of gameplay from? Story missions? If you aren't planning on playing endgame content then you are probably right, the game isn't worth it and you probably shouldn't play it.
With that being said, if you do play endgame content it is easily worth it. The progressions make sense and the game is balanced well between campaign and multiplayer. I've put at least 30 hours in so far trying to get to 370(at 369) for the raid which me and my group have not done yet.
So it comes down to how people play the game. If you choose to ignore how the game is suppose to be played then it is short. Because you aren't playing playing the whole game.

It's not as good as Taken King in terms of single player level design nor story but it's still enjoyable and some of Destinys best. It does show that Bungie is learning however, as each expansion is slowly fixing many of the problems with the game and they almost have the post story light leveling structure down.
I think at this point, Bungie is constrained by much of the base game in regards to the post game gearing structure, as so much old content feels unused and that's still a problem here with the expansion's reliance on strikes as a gearing mechanic to get raid ready.

Because you are comparing an RPG with an online only game.
You are also using The Witcher 3 as an example. One of the better games of this generation.
By your judgement you should not buy Uncharted 4, DOOM or any other 8-10 hour game because it doesn't have the scope of TW3.
Best to just wait two years before all those games turn into 20 dollar games, right?
Games, for me, are not rated into the money I pour into it but rated on how much enjoyment I can get out of it.
You can still wait for the inevitable price drop for the entire collection. I know a lot of people did that when TKK arrived.
Just because you think the DLC is not worth the 30 does not mean that your opinion is fact. It is NOT okay for you, it is for someone else.
It really depends how you value the length of a game. You could get Dwarf Fortress for free and play that for the rest of your life. I'm just saying that there are plenty of big name games that are around 8 hours that cost more, so this if you aren't ok with this then you also presumably aren't ok with Mirrors Edge, Spec Ops the Line, Uncharted, any COD game, etc
And thats ignoring the fact that this probably gives more than 6 hours if you are a typical Destiny player.
Mmmm if we go by metrics of hours, I bought the TTK legendary edition (vanilla + TDB + HOW + TTK) for 60, and I have spent 1200 hours, which I have enjoyed.

It's only 6 hours of gameplay if you dont count the sidequests, other PVE activities, the raid and PVP. And don't forget that this is a loot based game. The lenght of the main quest is not the most important thing.

That's the main story though and does not include the end game stuff which can easily add 100 plus hours depending on how addicted to the game you're.
I have close to a thousand hours on Destiny since it first released(probably more since I played the crap out of the alpha and beta) and ROI alone will probably get me 500 more hours.
Witcher 3 I probably put in 150 hours or so.
So to me and any other Destiny addict, ROI will definetly get me my money's worth and then some.
Spent more than 1000 hours in Destiny, absolutely loved TTK but was really bored by February. Came back with RoI, finished every quest, collected all available exotics, starter ro grind strikes for light... And just can't continue.
TTK was amazing because of couple new strikes, story missions, new subclasses, fun weapons (Hung Jury FTW). Rise of Iron doesn't do anything. The only fun activity is Forge but you should be very lucky to play it with 5-6 other people and not run out of SIVA offerings.
New strike is not as fun as Alak-Hul was for example. It's just invincible Phogoth and a random dude. Updated Sepiks is almost an unsult to the players, "new content" with almost same stages and bosses.
And after you finish all quest you grind useless lvl320 strikes for your book or grind heroic strikes all of which you already played for two years... I would rate it 5/10 or even lower. Can't wait for Destiny 2.

What exactly do you do in a new hub and patrol zone? It's cool that they exist but if three characters from Peak would've been moved to the Tower, nothing would've change.
And Patrol is just Patrol. You complete same patrol missions and public events as on every other planet. Plus I doubt you'll do it after all quests.

Plus there is a new arena called Archon's Forge in Patrol too.
I don't know why people forgot the Arena when in TTK the arena was the best social activity (Court of Oryx).

It's definitely a weaker patrol in comparison to the Dreadnaught in my opinion. In fact I'd say everything about ROI is weaker to it's counterpart in TTK. Still happy with it though.
Dreadnaught was full of secrets, Plaguelands doesn't have any of them. Maybe I'm wrong, but it's just a circle.
Forge is amazing only if you meet other players and always have a SIVA offering. If you go there solo or with just two friends, most of the time it won't last for too long.

Here's the the thing, MP centric games and expansions aren't easily measured in hours of gameplay.

Fairly sure ROI was supposed to be Destiny 2. (or Destiny 2 is delayed resulting in this last gap filler)

The main story missions are really really short,that's my only problem with this expansion.Haven't played the raid yet,but it looks cool from what I've seen in youtube

Nope, destiny 2 was supposed to be released this fall but got delayed and this is the filler til then.
Destiny 2 has the bulk of 500 bungie employees and whatever numbers high moon studios adds to that, ROI was made by a small live team usually tasked with small patches but instead made to put together this expac with whatever assets they had available from past work which is why so much of it is recycled.
I've been playing all week, and have done all but the last boss phase of the raid (LL370+ DPS gate, I think) and I'm really liking it. No expansion will ever top TTK, but ROI is a nice attempt.
The story stuff is short but well done. The exotic weapon quests are especially good for nostalgia and lore types.
The new strikes are good. I LOVE the Archon Machine Priest one, particularly for the boss.
The new Crucible mode (solo and team Supremacy/Kill Confirmed) is hectic and a welcome addition because it really ratchets up the pace. Especially on The Drifter where the lack of gravity causes dropped crests to float!
The raid felt really great. Less frustrating and time consuming platforming this time around, which was much appreciated after running King's Fall so much the past two weeks for Y2 Moments of Triumph. Bosses require lots of coordinating movement amongst the entire group. Early to call it but it might be my favourite raid so far.
There are a bunch of system tweaks that improve leveling reputations now, mainly the fact that you can choose weapon or armour rewards now. You'll still be boned for artifacts and ghosts past 350 since they don't drop frequently.
My real negatives from ROI come from things like leveling now feels like such a slog past 350 (remember how I said the raid's final boss I'd basically a hard DPS check, requiring LL370+?) because you need drops. People have resorted to exploits where they can farm Omnigul to drop the 2-3 blues per kill in order to level since doing this playing strikes regularly (or playing for single legendary drops or exotic engrams with Three of Coins in crucible haha) takes a long time.
Archon's Forge also seems like a bungled opportunity compared to Court of Oryx. You can only carry one SIVA Offering (starts AF fights, similar to Runes in COO) and rewards of any kind are not guaranteed. So not only are you rarely getting the means to play in AF, it's a gamble if you're relying on it for any kind of reward other than progress toward a bounty or something like that. I still need to spend more time with it to get a better handle on it, however.
I really do think ROI is a great expansion but it has its drawbacks that might slow people from properly enjoying the raid until they can get above 370. The game is great fun when you're under 350 since it's easy to level and enjoy the new content, but when you need to go above 350 for more challenging stuff (NF, raid), trying to get there can be a slow grind.

it's not "6 hours of gameplay" unless you just don't understand destiny at all.
people who play destiny regularly and are still buying the dlc will likely get wayyyy more than 6 hours of it. this is not a game where you play through all the new stuff once and then it's over. you're playing this stuff through multiple times, at different levels, for different gear.
i mean, if you don't understand the basic concept of destiny at this point, why are you still posting in the threads?

I really like this expansion, and it gives me a lot of hope for Destiny 2. Stuff like Ornaments are a simple but really cool way to make gear more unique.
Assuming it's a limitation of being tied to the original game, but having two separate Cosmodromes is pretty funny. Hopefully in Destiny two they streamline it so you don't have the weird parallel thing going, really confused me in the Khvostov quest.

I get what they're going for with the "Oh we've done so much together!" vibe, but the new voice just being there with no explanation bugs the hell out of me and made that entire mission insufferable. Bungie doing their best to erase year 1 from the history books lol

i have no interest in RoI after playing ~1325 hours, according to timewastedondestiny.com. Dlc was meh to me. I played the first half of the raid but it couldn't revive my destiny passion. Maybe destiny 2 might be different.
The fact that you are comparing a Destiny Expansion with COD DLC map pack makes the rest of your post(s) just plain ignorable.

You do know that Dinklage was removed entirely, right? It's all the same Ghost voice from beginning to end, now, so only old videos and those of us playing pre-TTK will have memories of the old voice.

- Social hubs are a joke, all community is built through third party websites
- Loading into/out of planets takes me out of the immersion of being in space. Way too much loading
- World is a joke, doesn't feel big enough. Earth is just Russia, come the fuck on.
- And no clan features in a game completely reliant on group content? What?

$30 for 6 hours of enjoyment?! Amazing. John Oliver tickets were $120 for a 90 minute show.
You can really tell most of Bungie are working on D2. ROI feels super low budget to me. I guess the setting isn't helping much either. The lovecraftian weirdness of Taken King lent itself really well to the mysteries that they put into the expansion.

TTK was definitely much larger scale in terms of content, but I don't feel like ROI feels low budget at all. I'm thoroughly enjoying it. Wrath of the Machine is a fantastic raid.
Haven't played the raid yet, just finished the "campagin". How is the PvE endgame compared to TTK? I loved all the smaller quests and stuff after killing Oryx.

Taken King was epic and had very good climaxes, both boss fights (story and raid) really felt like something special. Dreadnaught is much more interesting place to explore too.
Rise of Iron feels like it should have happened before TTK, it's still enjoyable but not on the same levels. After I'm done with the hard mode raid and 100% trophies, I'm still very much looking forward to Destiny 2.
