1 new map and 1 character does feel a little on the light side, but to be fair they've put out a shitton of balance patches. I think it evens itself out.
They have said they didnt expect to have to put so much work into competitive, and had to take development off other projects to finish it.
But balance updates arent content. They dont count for anything really.

Thing is, maps are good and all, but characters are what will keep this game alive. Ana's addition was great, I didn't really feel the new map.
Map packs are great for other games. Overwatch is about the characters.
Come on Blizzard. Hopefully this delay in everything is because they are building up a bank of half complete heroes so once they start, they keep coming.

Balance isn't content, it's just to keep things fair. Sorry, but balancing should be a requirement if they want this game to be esports friendly.

I think a lot of people missed the news that this isn't actually an ARG, and that Sombra will come out or not whenever Blizzard damn well pleases while a delusional subset of the fanbase believes they are contributing somehow to the 'progress' of the ultimate reveal.

Yep, it's sad they get a free pass. Only have to look at D3/WoW/SC to see that their meager content releases is their 'working as intended'.
I had to quit WoW after Cataclysm launch due to the lack of content and the constant balance changes, not to mention every Expansion changed skills and classes drastically.
I want something like Riot/Valve and how they release heroes/champs to LoL and Dota2. Riot has regular releases, but they can often run into balance issues since there are so many champions now. I love how when Valve/IceFrog releases a new hero for Dota2, they aren't readily available in ranked games/tournaments, so they can see how the community adapts to them.
I want Blizzard to adopt a hybrid of those two mentalities for OW.

The amount of content and quality expected for Overwatch heroes ensures that they will never release every 3 weeks, and that's fine imo. They feel so complete and they all have a lot of skins and interactions with the other characters.
However I do agree that they are taking too long with Sombra, and if they're going to take their time with characters I wish they would release maps in the gaps. We've had one.

I think the problem with sombra is that they've started hyping her too soon, the arg made it look like she was releasing in september, and now we're looking at at least november as a release date :/
Its not like doomfist that everyone knows its coming someday but we are fine with the wait, she kinda announced herself then left with no real content :|

Then what was your point of saying 'This isn't a MOBA though'? That implies that MOBAs are exclusive to that style of content release. Spoiler: it's not.

It's hilarious to me that Blizzard always gets a free pass while activision is hated on constantly. They answer to the same board of directors.

Completely anecdotal obviously, but my entire friend circle has stopped playing the game. The new map was cool but how deeply different was it from other maps? I don't consider balances or even competitive mode to really be "content". This game is all about the cast of heroes. That's the way it was sold to me and to many others, and I don't feel like Blizzard has followed through on those expectations.

She is definitely going to be released for the Halloween update based on rate of this upload.
Or they just could stop doing these ARG's that overstate their welcome by weeks, then release heroes when they are ready and it makes sense when it comes to timing.
Yeah but tbh they should've started the ARG today or even mid October and just ran it for a week or two. They've been dragging it out for so long that people just don't care much anymore.
Or better yet skip the ARG shit altogether and do surprise release on PTR
