Overwatch has developed quite a fan art following....

Honestly, I don't get why people get so worked up about shipping.

For me, it's just a variation of wish fulfillment. And wishfulfillment comes in a variety of forms. By that, I mean there was a picture before of everyone in formal suits. That's because someone thought they'd look good in suits, so they manifested that in an image. Or someone drew a picture of Mercy in a Victorian outfit, because they wanted to see her in that kind of outfit. Someone, somewhere, is writing a Overwatch x Battleborn fanfic, or a fanfic of exploring Zarya's dark past inspired by that fan art of her looking over the dead body of a kid, or just a tale of Junkrat and Roadhog on a merc mission or whatever.

That's all that fan stuff is. I honestly don't get why shipping has it's own catergory and name. It's just another form of fan wish fulfillment, and there's no reason that anyone should not indulge in that if they want to.

Complaining about shipping fan art in this particular thread be like beating a dead director.

There's going to be a Halloween brawl where everyone but Mercy is undead, and her ult kills all enemies in the vicinity instead of raising her teammates.

Same way people get worked up over sports and celebrities?

I don't get those either!

though that's not quite what I mean. I can get people getting excited about shipping. What I don't get is "Oh, you like that other pairing? Let me hammer your face in" or even "I hate shipping, I wish fans wouldn't post all that shit". The point of fandom is to have fans rearrange things how they like. If they want to make shipping fan art and I didn't want to see it, I'd just scroll over it.

This is kinda why the only shipping picture that I really enjoyed is the one with Mercy behind 76 saying something like "you are still our hero jack". Little actual "romance" in it and more a nod to his former position, with the shipping being able to be written off as just admiration for one of the actual "heroes" of their time.

Of course I'm also with you on your final statement so my opinion on the matter doesn't really matter.

Whoops. I always got thrown off because Soldier was young while Rein already seemed old.

Not fanart but I don't care there's no way I'm not posting this. South Korea continues to be one of the best allies the Pharmercy nation has.

Dang!
That's the good stuff!

Guess it's time to play catch up. One or two could be reposts, honestly, but sometimes you might as well if it's sourced and the pages existed long ago.

[Lots of Images]

I don't even play Overwatch, but from all the ships that has flooded the internet since the game launched, Mercy76 is the only I like lol
