Is the older crowd who don't play games really going to suddenly get into gaming because of this?
He means people in their 30's and 40's that have a family and a job
I guess my girlfriend and I need to decide between sharing one at home and only one of us playing portable or buying two and having an unused dock.
Start with one and then decide if a 2nd is necessary. Won't be cheap though.

I dont think that is actually the answer to the problem with the handheld market before though. Like does anyone think Vita failed because the games werent AAA console style enough?
Yep. People want a quick distraction for games between commutes and stuff. They dont care if it's AAA skyrim or angry birds. So why should they get the Switch if they already have a phone?

I love the fact that the logo is a Yin-Yang:

yeahhhh, I may be in the same predicament here. Wonder how that's going to be handled...

I mean, technically if you just wanted to make this a handheld, couldn't they sell a separate package without the dock?

They really lose me at the detatchable controllers. I just do not see the appeal.

I'm still interested in the console, but that idea just makes little sense to me.
Its a smart idea as long as the build quality is good.

They're also optional you can get a pro controller. Not sure how anyone could have an issue with them really.

The trailer featured the type of demographic who buy iPhones, not Nintendo handhelds. I think they are dreaming if they think 'non standard gamers' are going to buy this thing. In significant numbers that is.

What if the Nintendo Switch allows you to play both iOS/Android Nintendo apps on the system. Super Mario Run auto downloads to the switch cloud after purchase. So when you walk in the house you get a "Play at Home?" notification on your phone.

I can't wait to be traveling while a big game comes out, then playing it in handheld mode until I FINALLY get home and can plug it into the dock <3

The more I read the info the more my hype is deflated.

I'll use it mainly for portable console on the go, thickness, battery life kind of killed it.

I don't know how do I feel anymore. it more like underpowered console with screen attach rather that super Nintendo portable with hdmi output
Aren't those the same thing?

What do you mean here? Do you just mean that the controller should be built into the tablet permanently like the GamePad or do you mean that you don't understand the point of not just having the Pro controller be the only controller and call it a day?

Not bad.

As long as its not too expensive i think this may be the first nintendo console i buy since snes.

I'd get it just for the exclusives. Use my pro for everything else.

Seems likely. I actually think that the grip won't charge them but will act as a battery pack/create a singular wireless connection since bluetooth maxes out at 7 devices.
I doubt it'll link the, there's two indicators.

I wouldn't be surprised if, to do 4-players, you have to use at least a Pro controller. And I would be fine with it, to be honest.

I think thats their plan. Looks like Console/dock package (cones with controller) might be, what, 250? Then the controllers/screen sold individually at like 150 I'd guess.

Well, I mean, we'll see what gets ported. It's kind of silly to me to just assume that ports are definitely happening of every game I care about.

Maybe im just being daft. Wiiu games didnt sell that much bc nobody owned it. With splatoon and kart in todays trailer, it kind of confirmed my suspicions we will see 1.5 versions of wiius popular games to fill the Switch library quickly.

Of course, i could be completely off the mark, and wiiu will be worth holding on to for those classics, and switch will only ever see its sequels.

Ugh, so damn beautiful. Thank you Nintendo for being different. Not sure where I'm going to put the base though being that you have to insert the tablet into it.

bish gets all the credit :)
Why is it so large? To accommodate the controller attachments? I have a 7" tablet and that thing by itself is in no way portable.

Damn, that controller looks like it would be absolutely awful to use. :(

I do really hope that the classic controller type thing they showed is the default controller for the system as this and the little detachable controller things look terrible.

Console looks good, not a fan of the completely vertical buttons, gonna be crampy, but at least there is the pro controller. Dont like the Logo on the front of the dock either. But oh well.

Also the name is meh, makes me think of an actual switch/whip

It's just one option of playing it as a semi-portable while not holding down the screen. Otherwise the controls are traditional, both as a handheld and as a home console.

...hate me...
The detachable controllers are optional, you can just keep them on all the time and use a Pro controller. Don't see an issue when it's just an additional feature that sometimes can come handy and fun.

You need a full controller.

2 sticks, the D-pad. 4 shoulders, 4 face buttons at the least

*edit to your edit*

They are playing with half of the controller though

The full controller has 8 buttons (4 are "direction") and 4 shoulder buttons, with 2 sticks. Half gives you 1 stick, 4 buttons, and 2 shoulders (You can see by the way you're holding the controllers that their fingers are in a place to use them).

A self-controlling camera (Which you'd want anyway if two people were on the screen) is already something you see in a lot of games. And if 6 buttons aren't enough to play a basketball game, well, I'd say there's probably some over-design going on right now, but that's a matter of opinion.

Yep. Just seems a way for them to keep costs down by presumably packing the the grip attachment for use with TV play vs. having to pack in a full separate controller or require people to buy one separately.

I am talking about older gamers. Clearly.

I am referring to lapsed gamers in their mid-to-late 30s, early 40s.

People who once liked playing more complex games, but just do not have the time or patience anymore to deal with bullshit.

If the device can essentially replace their tablet for the basics, then Nintendo may have a market here.

If you can browse social media , and basically use as an iPad would be great.

I'm not saying your daft. I just think we're jumping the gun here a bit. I mean if all you want is like the five most popular Wii U games then I don't think you're going out on a limb assuming that there'll be Switch ports. But I'm not expecting every single good Wii U game to automatically get ported.

Well then. This is the exact console I needed. If From Soft is onboard with porting over souls games I'm down with it. Skyrim portable is also super cool.

I'm looking forward to it!

I hope the (presumed) big NX software Nintendo Direct happens this year. If it's not until January, I'm gonna' die.

Just remember anything we see wont be playable til at least March anyways. At least we dont have to wait any longer to know were going to be playing new nintendo come spring.

Just seen the trailer and color me intrigued. Will need to see more of the games and the system specs but it seems very promising so far. Nintendo just needs to price it right to have it fly off the shelves.

I'm blown away. First time a Nintendo product lived up to the hype and expectation that was placed on it IMO. Sleek product and advertising. This is Nintendo 2.0 and I'm loving it!
