The fucking scenarios are hilarious. Like any group of friends that are getting together to play couch co-op are almost certainly using a TV. Maybe I could see the road trip thing happening , but no. I don't know anyone who are getting together with their friends to pass out tiny gimped remotes (Remember playing Mario Cart on Wii and how much the Wii-mote sucked ass) and play on a 6.2" screen out on a park bench or something.
Not saying the option is bad, but they seemed to really focus on it, when that's really not something that will be used extensively or is as anywhere near important as the titles and system details.
supposely is a console dev that leaked some previous info that ended up being true. What has the user Zlatan leaked before? What are his credentials?
Just like they did with the Nintendo Thrii Dii Ess.
Yeah I don't see this taking off like the Wiimote. So, why would the average joe choose this over their smartphone / tablet? I mean, judging by the video that's the target audience.. I don't buy it though.

Microsoft would only need to enable remote play at the same quality as their in home streaming via the Xbox app to have the same features.
Hell, they demoed Halo 4 being streamed to a mobile years ago.
There are people who want console games on the go. Pretty sure my cousin is still like that and why she only has a 3DS and iPhone. This might make her interested. So, why would the average joe choose this over their smartphone / tablet? I mean, judging by the video that's the target audience.. I don't buy it though.
So, the announcement video sits now at 1.74 million views on YouTube. Not bad for the first 9 hours.
Yup. And it's at 4.3 million on Facebook.
So then.
Switch, PS4 Pro, Xbox Scorpio ... they can say what they want, this looks like the start of Gen 9 to me.
3DS will continue to get a small amount of support, but not from Nintendo. Switch will replace the 3DS, but Nintendo isn't just killing it off.So if it's primarily a home console, that means the 3DS line will continue in some fashion, then.

I was looking at the trailer and noticed that the 'joycon grip' seems to have some bulky grips on the back. It's an interesting design choice, probably helps a lot to get a good grip for such a square button layout. I'm not sure this has been discussed yet, but it caught my eye.

i updated my prior post.Like what exactly?
Yes we do. Nintendo merged their handheld and console hardware decisions years ago, when development on this started in full force. Iwata was also saying at least a year or so ago that they were looking to consolidate their development onto one platform.
This is THE Nintendo platform going forward.

Anyone else think they should have called the console the Nintendo JoyCon?
'Con' short for console.
Updated to 2.5 million on YouTube now.
They'd have to know what s Wii u is firstIn all fairness they might think it's a new controller for the WiiU when they see it.
Pretty much. At least 8.5, but yeah, Gen 9.So then.
Switch, PS4 Pro, Xbox Scorpio ... they can say what they want, this looks like the start of Gen 9 to me.
I dunno, I could see meeting at a bar and playing Mario Kart over some beers. The fucking scenarios are hilarious. Because it provides comfortable home console gaming on the go
I'm strictly a portable gamer; not sure how to feel about this.3DS will continue to get a small amount of support, but not from Nintendo. Switch will replace the 3DS, but Nintendo isn't just killing it off.
It's definitely a soft reboot of sorts.Pretty much. At least 8.5, but yeah, Gen 9.
Agreed, I think that would be an ideal price for this anything higher and they are setting themselves up for failure.I think Nintendo should go for the budget gamer price point
They may make a small loss but due to the architecture the costs of the system will come down so fast. Some of these old tablets are a fraction of the price they were for when they launched.
I'm not a fan of it, It's a pretty mediocre name but maybe it will grow on me.Switch is an amazing name.
Marketing on point right out the gate.

You're getting an incredibly powerful handheld device, feel happy.
The dock has 2 2.0 USB ports and 1 3.0How do you hook up game cube controllers to this though?
In the dock maybe?

I wouldn't count on it. I'm putting as much stock in "primarily a home console" as I put in "the DS is a third pillar" circa 2004.So if it's primarily a home console, that means the 3DS line will continue in some fashion, then.
