Coming from the PS4, I am blown away by the Xbox One.

I find the dash and UI to be the worst part of the Xbone. It's a lot slower than the 360 or the PS4. It's improved a hell of a lot since it launched but it's still crap compared to the 360 at its best.

Agreed. The UI and dash/app selection is so much faster than the PS4. I really love snap as well, It helps me so much when creating content and using multiple apps at the same time.

I have no problems with xbox's UI

Yes, it can be slow, but in terms of navigation and functionality it's good. Never understood people saying it's difficult to use.

The PS4 system UI is better for me. It does not have ads pushed in your face, it is more intuitive and more responsive. Xbox One menus are a mess, especially configuration and finding "your content".

What ads? You mean the ones that are geared towards Xbox, Xbox Live Gold, and games coming out on the Xbox One? How is it hard to find "Your Content" Not sure if you mean screenshots and clips or what. If you have a recently played game you just press down and you can highlight "share" it'll show you your most recent clips.

Ever since the last update, my PS4 main screen has only six tiles.

It's minimal, it's clean and it's fast. The folders really do wonders if you set them up right.

I personally find this UI literally useless. It's a waste of space to keep everything to one line. It's not a good design, and trying to keep remnants of the XMB dash is a horrible idea.

I feel the exact opposite as you do OP. I really hate the UI on my xbone. It's very confusing and i feel like i have to wade through a bunch of tv/multimedia shit that i never use and don't care about to get wherever i want to go. Love the games on both of my consoles, but definitely prefer the ps4 UI and setup.

You can just click library and have all your games/apps in a grid like the xbox one. The library is much more useful now.

Its like you've made no effort to learn how to use it at all. Its actually inaccurate enough to make me wonder if you've used it at all or in the last year lol.

I've had both a PS4 and Xbox One. I had to make a choice of which to keep and I choose Xbox. I know the PS4 has the better gfx, but everything else is better on XO IMHO. The UI and its feature set is great, and I find it faster than the PS4 UI. There must be some technical issue that makes the UI slow for some and fast for others.

Creating a party for a raid in Destiny on PS4 is fucking atrocious. That said, I'd never get used to Xbox styled analogs. I've used PS style analogs too long. It would be like going back to a mouse after 15+ years of superior trackball use.

Literally the only thing I had trouble with was locating my pins after the NXE UI released. I went to Twitter and asked where they were and a buddy told me to pull RT. Wow. So complicated. lol

In general everything is user friendly and quick. A lot of these gripes come across as unreasonable but who knows. Opinions!

You mean analog sticks, right? Because even just us posting on and reading this forum is an analog.

I prefer the Xbox controller.

I agree with you OP. XB1 interface is just better all around, in all aspects except for speed. That and the controller are the reason I use the system for multiplatform games.

Xbox One UI is so bad, every time I use the Xbox I feel lost. But I agree on the controller, it is the best. I even replaced my dualshock 4's thumbsticks with Xbox One's.

I really wish that Microsoft notice and change this, after reading this topic I realize that I am not the only one that don't like this UI.

Hyperbolic = one person's personal opinion? I don't even agree but nothing said is ridiculous. Comes down to personal taste.

Right, the wording of 'blown away' is kinda hyperbolic, though. I can completely understanding having a personal preference, but when most people in this very thread prefer the UI of the PS4, I'm not sure how one could be 'blown away' by the Xbox's UI.

Again, you can like one over the other, of course I'm not contesting that. It's just the terminalogy used to describe the differences.

Hence 'hyperbolic.'

I'm not sure why you're so offended by my own personal experience. But I last used it last weekend to play Gears of War. It's my first Xbox console, I don't play it nearly as much as I play my PS4. I'm very sorry that my own very subjective experience with a video game console is bothering you so much that it brought you to calling me a liar. Take a deep breath and relax, Dale.

"Hey cortana - i want to pause but can you instead misunderstand me and snap an annoying web search to the right of the screen which I'll have to grab the controller to remove?"

As much as the UI frustrates me, I do find myself playing more on the the Xbox simply because of the HDMI pass through - it's there ready to go at all times.

What?

The Xbox UI is complete and utter trash.

Him reading this kind of hyperbole on a regular basis, probably led him to have extremely low expectations, therefore being blown away once he actually tried it, unlike the most "concern" posts hahaha.

It's much improved, but I still wish it was snappier. Far too slow. And I wish there were better options for organizing my games library. I've never used the PS4 OS, but I heard it's snappy but has a bit less going on. Weird how these difference garner some ridiculous posts from some people. How do these fucking people even function?

It's a much more feature rich OS with some depth and cool features to it in comparison.

I mean, PS4 just got online notifications several months ago for fucks sake. There is a big gap IMO, though some just like the simplified, snappier in some cases experience. That doesn't mean people can't appreciate what the other has to offer; it's just funny that you take "i was blown away" as hyperbole, but skip right past all of the "horrific, utter shit, the worst, abysmal, horrible mess etc etc" posts.

The PS4 is my first Sony system and I gotta say, apart from the exclusives, I'm kinda eh about getting it over the Xbone.

The biggest problem I have is the controller. It's so small and my hands hurt every time I use it.

Calm down yourself friend, do you think anyone who questions you is mad?

I'm not offended I just don't believe your hyperbole. You can talk about how how your feelings are subjective, but when your "subjective" feelings cause to to state things that are objectively, provably false, people are going to call it into question.

In no way do you have to "wade thru" anything tv related to launch a game. That's simply not true.

Explain this part then:
" i feel like i have to wade through a bunch of tv/multimedia shit that i never use and don't care about to get wherever i want to go"

Because all that tv/multimedia shit that you never use and apparently had to wade through is in it's own separate tab where all you have to do is hit the right or left bumper to move off of.

I'm going to put on my resume "can use Xbox one OS with relative ease" going by how "horrible" and "confusing" it is to use by many. Quite a skill I have, I have to admit.

Having both, Xbox controller and ps4 ui would be the killer combo. I hate the Xbox ui and the quality of the dualshock 4 is appalling. :|

this is the winner. I've been through 4 DS4s for various failures. then again, I use my ps4 probably 5x as much as I do my Xbone. My Day One Xbox One controller does have some nasty stick drift now, but overall it's still hanging tough for me. I am going to get one of those new controllers that ships with the S, that should fix things.

Yes and avoiding said Tab is as easy as these 4 terribly complicated steps.

1. Don't hit RB.

2. Press A to launch the game which is in the highlight already if youve got the disc in.

3. or, press right one time to get to my games and apps, a button, and right one more time to select from list of installed games.

4 press RT one time if you've got it pinned, and launch the game.

wow, how amazingly confusing and tangled... /s

Man, I've had the exact opposite experience than OP.

Guess we just have different sensibilities.

The Xbox UI is laggy enough that sometimes when playing Forza Horizon 3 and bouncing to the dash to start up the Groove app I've started up another game by accident. That sucks.

The PS4 is snappy, and handles game updates much better and quicker as well. When you get an update for Gears or Horizon (for example), first you'll see the screen that says "this game needs an update", then you have to wait until you're prompted to start the update. Then you go to another screen which has a decent wait before you even see a progress bar that holds at 0 for far too long. Then you wait for the update to download, and then you can restart the game. Updates "just happen" on the PS4, with firmware updates being the only ones that really require you to take some action and wait.

And starting a party on PS4 is just as simple. Bring up your friend in the quick menu, and select chat and it'll start a party and send the invite out in one action.

But hey, the Xbox OS is definitely doing the job well for plenty of people, so maybe we just have different habits with our console use. I just wish it was much snappier for my uses at least, no pun intended.

I like my Xbox One almost entirely because the controller is fucking great. It took some getting used to after years of using 360 controllers, but I think the X1 pad is my favorite of all time. The DS4 is good, but the build quality and battery life are lacking compared to the X1 controller. I'm planning on picking up the revised One S controller later this year, I've heard nothing but great things about it.

That said, with Scorpio, MS needs to make the X1's UI snappier. It's embarassing how slow it is. Like, guys, you're a freaking software company. Come on.

Have both. Like PS4 better. Xbone UI is ugly and slow. Hate the ads on homepage. Hated 'Metro' or whatever its called since I first saw it.

Edit: That being said I do like how achievments give you percentages based on how far along you are to completing it. But I also love how PS4 separates its trophies by DLC.

Also controllers. PS4 is great but build quality is kind of low end. Xbone controller is solid but not sure I like it as much.

The pad is easily the best I've used. It's a fantastic bit of kit, and I miss the rumble triggers when I'm on my PS4. They are a great feature.

Please tell me you are joking and not really this stupid?

He's obviously joking. Come on man!

It's freakin incredible. The textured sides where you grip it feel so damn good. Snug as a glove. It's my new favorite controller surpassing the Forza 6 LE one.

Yep, couldn't agree more. It's one of my most anticipated improvements.

For controller based UIs, while I do like the Xbone's more than the PS4's, I think Steam in big picture mode trumps both.

edit: I don't think the Xbone UI is... slow per say as much as the main issue is the repsonsiveness and framerate of animations that feel way off base.

Well, yes it's an opinion, obviously.

But otoh, if memory serves, the OP has spent a lot of time in the PS4Pro thread talking shit about it, so..
Maybe that's where some people come from?

Cuts both ways. There's a bunch of fanboys talking shit on both sides. We don't need to sink to the lowest common denominator

He's obviously joking. Come on Man!

I suspected as much but it's real hard to tell sometimes around here.

The UI was okay speed when I first got it but something about one of these updates made it super laggy. I can't even smoothly enter the commands for my profile sign-in. I do like the changes they made but I wonder why it got so slow.

Controller is the best ever. The only thing I could think of for improvements were done for the Elite controller, so I'd like to try that, but don't have so much cash to spare.

I hate the XB1 UI. I just want to play games. I constantly get errors, it's slow and laggy, it takes forever to install anything.

When I want to play a game it tells me "Preparing to launch," and then never does. I have to restart it all the time.

It's awful.
