So uh, Titanfall 2 Campaign is amazing

Even if you never plan on playing the multiplayer, the game is worth a rental or purchase for the single player campaign. I rented it for 3 days from Redbox and loved the campaign.

I hope I am still on the first chapter and it gets better because so far I have went to fetch a power core. Only to get back to fetch another power core, to then get back walk in the Titan for a bit then do some corridor shooting. Not exactly seeing anything new here. Especially when You add in the by the numbers mech to human banter.

Oh my sweet child

Yeah, that's probably the single weakest section. It improves.

Buckle up, that's the least interesting component.

You are like 30 mins into the game...

Before everyone starts attacking Dabi, there is a spoiler thread right next to this one on the front page. Probably clicked on the wrong thread.

except even in that thread, you'd only post that stuff if you read that it has unmarked spoilers

Any news/rumors about which graphical improvements we might expect for PS4 PRO ?

I really can't wait to play this Game.

Can someone go through the thread and compile all the "it's the ____ of shooters" or "it feels like ______ and ______ had baby"
Because some of them are amazing.

Damn you canadapost for not getting the order here 4 days ago! Would've dived deep into that campaign and powered through it. Trade off is new job and powering through online training lol.

I can play the waiting game.

I am glad to see the overwhelming praise for the campaign lifted to its own thread! The OT seemed populated by people who already bought the game, many of them for the MP.

Short length + interesting set pieces + first person parkour + cool sci-fi pretty much guarantees I will. I'm kind of easy to please

How would peple compare this to Singularity? I recall that being another FPS that surprised people with cool mechanics and scenarios

Singularity had a more interesting and mysterious world to explore imo, but the gameplay wasn't as meticulously designed designed and varied (although the guns felt great to use). Singularity also had more of a horror focus and was significantly larger. I don't think they felt very similar to play in practice.

The
time shift
level and some of the platforming puzzles were Valve level amazing.

This is possibly equal to Wolfenstein as this my fave FPS campaign this gen, and that's saying something: I bloody ADORED the Wolfenstein campaign.

Makes me want so much more in this world: gives me Firefly vibes so much: so Browncoat it hurts.

Can't believe the quality of this single player campaign. I haven't had this much fun since Half-Life 2, no exaggeration. They've crafted something special here. Multiplayer is incredible on its own, but what they've achieved with the single player needs recognition.

I really hope Respawn does well with this title despite being wedged between BF1 and CoD. Can't stress enough how incredible this game is.

I'd give it a try but then I'd have to stop playing the Mp. Just can't do it. Whole session last night of 49 ms or better ping. It's like we're back in the year 2005 again when people actually cared about servers . Sooooo good. First Mp game of the generation with decent servers. Very first one. Except maybe the first tf but I missed it ps4.

Recommend everyone sick of these bullshit lagfest fps this gen to pick it up. At least so far so good, any counter opinions on the performance?

It's good, but those saying it's better than DOOM, I have to wonder if you're the type to just get very excited about the newest thing.

This still feels like MW and typical military shooter single player. It's done very well but it never leaves that genre.

DOOM was some next level shit.

I think Wolf shits on DOOM ;p

Well, yeah, they're totally different subgenres, excelling in their own ways

Yep, its fantastic so far. Just like BF1 i jumped in on hard ro extend the life a bit more but yeah, hugely impressed. No interest in multiplayer.

One really novel level, and a super cool arena fight, but otherwise it made me feel like a crusty old man. It didn't surprise me often, and I didn't really feel the stakes -- so it was flat (and short). But I'm clearly the outlier here. I do love HL2 and some of the other comparisons in this thread, though.

That's surprising to hear. Had no interest in the game at all after I felt kinda burned with TF1 but I might pick this up on sale further down the line, no interest in MP.

Singleplayer campaigns are my jam, while I dont care about multiplayer at all. This thread has now made me interested in Titanfall 2 very much.

DOOM for me was all about level design, character movement, and encounters.

Titanfall 2 is indeed awesome in single player but I don't feel like the enemies you engage can match DOOM. DOOM was all about highly mobile enemies and management of different enemy types in a single place. It was physical and close in a way that Titanfall isn't.

...but I don't want to use that as a negative spin on TF2 since I DO think they've crafted something special here. It's a very interesting campaign which I had a feeling would be the case based on seeing it prior to release. It's a massive leap over what Call of Duty and Battlefield has been attempting over the last few years.

This is great to hear. I don't have time for it right now, but I look forward to it on Access next year.

Hopefully I get the game from gamefly this week. Quick question to anyone who's played the campaign, how does it compare to call of duty campaigns? Is the story well told? That's my main concern.

Story is simple and straight to the point. Standard hollywood action block buster stuff. In terms of COD campaigns, I propped this SP with the greats like COD4, COD2, and MW2!

That level serves as an organic tutorial on movement, combat and special abilities. Once that's done you get to the meat and potatoes of the game.

So how fluid does the game feel?
If it was any more fluid I'd have a fried PS4 wrapped in towels.

I thought this deserved a thread of its own because people are surprised at how good this is.

Titanfall 2 is mostly known for its multiplayer and usually, for these sort of games, a Campaign is just tacked on or not important. I say that even without the multiplayer, this sits there with DOOM and Wolfenstein as shooters you should buy for its SP alone (imo I think it shits on those two).

Some impressions from the |OT|:

and many, many many many more

Part of me wonders how this would be received by now if it was the very first Titanfall game and didn't have a multiplayer.

Respawn put in a lot of work into this Campaign and it really shows. Multiplayer be damned, don't sleep on this if SP if your thing.

It sounds really good, major kudos to Respawn!
