My Nintendo Thread: Mii Nintendo, U Nintendo, Wii Nintendo

While, Nintendo of America incompetence strikes again. They went up on the amount of gold coins for discounts. For example, 70 gold coins will net you only a 30% discount on a $20 download Wii game for the Wii U. I recall Kid Icarus for the 3DS having a 30% discount for 70 gold coins and that was a $34.99 game.

Mynintendo update day?

On another note on how Nintendo of America increased the amount of gold coins for an SNES game. They gave out SNES games for like 70 coins now you only get a 30% discount with 40 gold coins. This reward program sucks.

Do you think they will just keep on treating this thing like trash or will there be better times with Super Mario Run and Switch?

Hey guys. I'm sorry if this isn't the right thread, but I really don't want to open up a topic for this. Basically, everything since the NX made me want a Wii U more. I never had a Wii, so it feels like I can enjoy two whole generations since the NX probably won't be backwards compatible.

Is this justified or should I really just wait for the NX? Are there any websites or videos that talk about this? Also, would you say they're gonna offer new bundles or deals for the holidays or should I bite now for a Super Mario Maker or MK8 bundle?

I would seriously wait for the Switch. All the big Wii U titles are rumored to be coming to the new system.

Oh man, alright. This is harder than I thought.

It really depends on your budget. There will probably be decent Wii U deals during the holiday season (and there is always the refurbished option on Nintendo.com

Some titles are being ported and VC will likely come over fairly intact, but the specifics won't be known until the January Direct.

If you see someone offering a great deal, maybe jump in as you get a pretty decent machine that plays Wii U and Wii games out of the box and Gamecube games through home-brew methods.

There have to be better times, otherwise what is even the point of this service? In its current state, MyNintendo isn't rewarding loyalty, it's just spreading frustration. Collecting points only for them to expire because there's nothing interesting to spend them on isn't exactly a good way to foster an active userbase.

It's mindboggling all around. I guess they hoped Miitomo to be able to carry the service on its own or whatever. It's just weird, for the last six months MyNintendo has been without purpose. It's just there.

I'm so desperate to redeem rewards that I'm almost considering getting the HarmoKnight discount just to purchase it on my 2nd 3DS. Depressing!

Oh man, alright. This is harder than I thought.

Although if you wait for the switch to play all the Wii U games you missed, consider this - They're probably going to be $60 for roughly the same game. If you look at the Nintendo Selects line - you can get a good chunk of the must have Wii U games for $20 each. And even then, surely not all those games are getting ports (Pikmin 3, for example, seems unlikely).

These rewards are just pitiful. I like putting the MyNintendo themes on shuffle but they put them out at an unbearably slow pace, how hard is it to just slap stock art onto a recolored background to make some more? Hell, there's already a fourth Samus one that NA still hasn't gotten for whatever reason!

At this stage I am just redeeming the 5 Miitomo ticket pack twice every month because that sets me back 840 points which is about how many I earn every month anyway. Pretty much maintains the status quo at around 5000 while I wait for an actual reward worth redeeming.

It's hard to believe it's only been about a year and a half since Club Nintendo was decommissioned. The Smash Bros. Mewtwo DLC, soundtrack offer, and all of the other physical and digital rewards feel like a distant memory now.

My Nintendo is functionally a beta and timing was a key factor in releasing it in March with Miitomo. I totally see where they don't want to invest a lot of effort in supporting the 3DS and Wii U outside of a few eShop discounts. The only promise the program has is with the Twilight Princess Picross game and the formerly available Warioware Touched. The latter being something entirely new since we've never had a DSiware re-release of a DS game. Since Nintendo is constantly recycling and extending rewards offers, it makes no sense why they were in such a rush to get rid of Warioware.

I'm actually considering cashing in a few platinum coins on that HarmoKnight discount. Do you guys recommend the game?

I love rhythm games. All of the Rhythm Heaven games have been a true joy in my life, and I like Elite Beat Agents. I did like the HarmoKnight demo, but I'm just wondering if it ever gets old. For $12 it sounds like a no-brainer, but I'm wondering if there are many of you who beat the game and look back and think, "Yeah, I'd easily recommend that."

Thoughts? I want to pull the trigger, but the gaming budget is tight so I have to really buckle down on flippant purchasing decisions.

I don't recall Harmoknight going on sale a lot, aside from being one of the last rewards on Club Nintendo. If you liked the demo, it might be up your alley, assuming you know it's gonna be that, but just different songs that have some slight variants at times.

I adore HarmoKnight. Can't recommend it highly enough. It definitely doesn't get old, if anything you'll wish it were longer.

There is one caveat though: if you're only interested in achieving gold rank on each stage, it probably won't be that difficult. The game doesn't really tell you about it but there's a hidden charge mechanic which earns you more points, so if you are into trying to maximize the score you get on each level, then not only is it challenging, there's also some strategy involved in trying to optimize your routes and charge patterns.

I know some people don't like to "make their own challenge" in games so to each their own on that. But I love it.

That avatar, though.
I doubt I'd get too caught up in maximizing scores; like with Rhythm Heaven Megamix I'll probably just focus on getting gold on everything, and then I'll revisit / max out the songs I enjoyed the most. I'll sleep on it and then decide, but for now I'm thinking I'll probably go for it.

I bought Harmoknight with the My Nintendo offer. It's an OKish rhythm game. The music is mostly forgettable and the gameplay gets a bit boring after a while. It's one of the weaker rhythm games made by Nintendo.

You can try the demo. It pretty much shows what you do for the entirety of the game. Music is similar, gameplay the same.

Gamefreak.

Never been on sale btw. Maybe one time max. Same as with Spin Cycle.

but Gamefreak made it. :)

No, Gamefreak did not (who are they? :P). The game was developed by Game Freak (Inc.). Considering that Nintendo funded the title, localised it, and published it, stating that Nintendo made the game is not inaccurate either.

And it's pretty clear what I was looking at. If we are just looking at Nintendo's internally developed music titles, what do we have apart from the Rhythm Paradise series and Jam with the Band? If we look at Nintendo-published music titles, we also have Sound Voyager, Donkey Konga, Elite Beat Agents, and Sing Party.

Sometimes just use your brain and shut up :P

By the way, you can also buy coupons for games that you already own. Since I did not know what to do with my platinum coins, I bought the Hydroventure coupon (I already bought the game before) to see what would happen. The reduced price even shows up on the respective 3DS eShop page.

Jam with the Band is IntSys :P (RH too but there's overlap at least^^)

I hate these "just for you" offers. No, they're not just for me, because I own 90% of the games you're trying to give me deals on.

They are just for you though, since you can't spend your coins on them and gift them to someone else, unlike the other stuff. (Still, them working like this is stupid.)

Jam with the Band is not IntSys. That's a Europe-only DS game created internally at Nintendo. You may confuse this with the Japan-only 3DS title 大合奏!バンドブラザーズP, which is a game based in the same series.

Right, something got jumbled up there in my noggin! :D

I got my birthday 30% off offer from Nintendo. Only select games. I'm trying to decide between NSMB 2 for $21 or Mario Luigi Paper Jam for $28.

Might use some coins to pick up Harmo Knight, heard good things about that. As usual nothing else here to see.

In the U.S., I see some fantastic games on offer! That I already own... If nothing else this is my proof to wait on certain games when Switch is out. At least that way I'll be able to take advantage of some of these discounts.

250 coins will expire this month, should I wait a bit or grab something ? Also, what would you recommand me to grab ? European player here.

Gold coins but everyone should grab Pocket Card Jockey.

On the published side, there's also Dedede's Drum Dash Deluxe, which while short is also pretty decent. Honestly had more fun with it than Harmoknight.
