So uh, Titanfall 2 Campaign is amazing

In my opinion, Effect and Cause is the first truly GREAT mission in the game. So, uh, keep going. It gets better.

Played it and it didn't really change my opinion. It honestly blows my mind the amount of praise this game is getting. I normally don't like to shit on games but I paid 60 for the digital version and feel the need to gripe:

- campaign is straight up repetitive and boring. Story delivery is meh
- art direction and level design is bland as hell.
- graphics look like a high res PC game from the 90's with no lighting...guess that's the cost of 60 fps
- guns look like they were designed with a random weapon parts generator

Still gonna see the campaign through, just got to
some assault on an air base mission after meeting Briggs
.

This is the most absurd post I've seen in a while. There's nothing inventive about this game, it's the same repetition of the wall running mechanic the whole game.

So how far are you now? Did you get to the next part (Effect and Cause)? Or are you just going to keep shitting on this game in all of the threads?

EDIT: Saw your next post, guess this game isn't for you. I think you might be one of the only posters that I have seen does not like the campaign. Are you related to Arthur Gies by chance?

This is the only thread I've bitched in...I'll stay out of the OT. I've paid for the game and the only satisfaction I'm getting from it is bitching about it :p

Just finished this. I wasn't expecting much after the MP beta, but man it's ridiculous how much fun I had through this campaign. This build up was great and the final levels are everything I wanted in a Titanfall campaign.

I feel like with Doom, the campaign should have been advertised much more than the multiplayer. I hope the sales pick up, Respawn did a fantastic job IMO.

Some random thoughts/observations

-
Funny how when the time travel part comes no one is particularly surprised, then again they are bending space time to warp ships i suppose

-
Had more fun in the time travel segments than in Quantum Break's. Someone else mentioned it earlier but shifting between an era infested with monsters and one with soldiers was a brilliant design move, cant wait to see people much better than me post videos of their playthroughs

-Exactly how long does this take place after Titanfall 1? Sarah and Blisk look roughly the same iirc. Didnt catch any mentions of General Graves

-I guess in-fiction pilots are bonded to one mech instead of just calling endless reinforcements from the sky

-Blisk seemed much more of a company man in the first one

-Couldnt the IMC just replicate the research they were doing? I think i remember hearing the militia had found dozens of such research sites

-Were the 6-4 all pilots too or just special ops?

-Are there plans for novels and other extended fiction?

This makes me absurdly excited for Respawn's Star Wars game. Show's there's some serious know how at Respawn. Bring it on!

Posted this in the OT, but lots of the GB dudes including past member Austin are loving the campaign :-)

Just killed
Ash
, when does this start getting "amazing" because so far it's pretty dull.

All guns are samey, story so far is shallow, set pieces are bland, and the graphics are really mediocre.

I regret reading this thread since it's what convinced me to purchase this game.

For context, what games do you find "amazing"?

whaaa..? I watched a playthrough of the single player, and everyone in the stream chat, as well as the streamer agreed it was generic, by the books and insanely easy and forgettable. Stunned people on GAF are in love with it. The only thing I thought was good were the graphics.

Watching people play games isn't even close to the experience of playing a game. It's like watching two people have sex versus having sex.

See I don't think the story or characters in the campaign are great, pretty generic and mediocre. However I found the world you are traveling through, the actual gameplay involved and the general presentation was very well done. I also liked the BT relationship more than expected. I think the biggest thing that would have made the single player was a bit more downtime. I would have loved to have a campfire night scene where you're just hanging with BT shooting the shit.

im quite interested in this, but i can't pay $60 for a 5 hour campaign. I wont touch the multiplayer. So I guess im waiting for the first price drop. I don't really want to buy it used, if its as good as people are saying then i want to support in hopes they make another.

I wonder how much they take into account sales after the price drops when deciding on making another.

Most recently: DOOM
Hmmmm, don't know what to say. I guess the game isn't for you. I loved Doom but I loved the freedom this game offered more. Playing through it again and the scenarios are playing out a lot differently than my first play through. The variety and sense of building awesomeness is quite good too. Top that off with a great mp (Doom's was passible but lacking) and i think it is easy to see what everyone is raving about. Everyone has different tastes and if you didn't like it, that's cool too. Doom is a fantastic game so at least you have good taste :)

do what I do. Buy it, beat it in five hours, call EA and get that $60 refund because of their Great Game Guarantee, ???, PROFIT!

I'm feeling this was supposed to be a joke, am I right?

I hope it was supposed to be a joke, sounds awful otherwise with Respawn in the thread :(

Just finished. I liked it overall but it definitely peaks with the
time
stuff. Unfortunately, since that's 1/3 (?) into the game, the rest of it goes downhill from there. It's not that the rest of the campaign is BAD per se, it just doesn't reach that early level of creativity. The later levels are also fairly titan heavy, and while I enjoy the titan combat it is best in limited doses IMO.

It does do the set piece style campaign better than any game since Black Ops, which is a real credit to the folks at Respawn.

I bought GOW4 and BF1, really enjoying both and thought I dont need any shooters for a long time.

I played titanfall 2 beta on x1 twice and wasnt compelled to keep playing.

I kept reading all the positive impressions of the final gamed and was trying to not get convinced to buy, but I broke and went and got the pc version from cd keys for $45.

3 days later, I havent touched gow or bf1 and loving every second I get to play titanfall2. Sleeper of the year and Im only 30 mins into the campaign. THe full game with all the modes, unlockables, maps etc is one heck of a package and nothing beats the fluid movement of titanfall2.

lol you fucker I know you don't do that

JC's the Scumbag King, y'all ain't know?

His throne is made of thousands of copies of great IPs that didn't sell enough and are now dead.

This is why I'm eternally grateful that Half Life 3 will never be made. It's his punishment.

How mature is the campaign? I let my son play the first one, but it didn't really have much of the story.

PG13 ish. Probably fine depending on what you normally limit him to of course.

Most recently: DOOM

Well, DOOM was great. But this game subjectively gives it a run for it's money, if not beats it outright. Not sure how you can complain so much tbh with the utter trash most FPS campaigns have been for the last decade.

There's gore, especially when you melee people with the Titan, but I don't think it's that different from the first one. If you were okay with him playing that, this should be fine too.

That's fucking disgusting and I'm pretty sure that's return fraud.

He'll be fine here if the first one was okay. Grunt banter in the original and Stryder executions were basically more mature than anything in Titanfall 2.

Finished it tonight. One of the best SP FPS campaigns in recent memory.

I love how so much of the design of the spaces focuses on fun first, believability second. Some of these spaces basically feel like level designers were allowed to gray box whatever they wanted as long as it was fun, then artists came in later and made it all look pretty.

I also think that the willingness to abandon certain mechanics at the end of the same chapter they're introduced in is a confidence that few other developers have.

I'm thinking that the length also will make replays pretty painless since it's so lean.

Fantastic game. So glad I didn't skip this. The TT hooked me, and if it wasn't for that, I'm not sure TF2 would even be on my radar since this quarter is so packed with quality.

It's my GOTY right now.

Story is a Saturday morning cartoon. Some of the animations are violent but they are all kind of ridiculously over the top.

In terms of swears I can't really remember much. There is one scene where the robot jacks off though.

It was good with a couple of stand out levels mainly the
time travel
stuff. I was getting tired of it by the end though. Worth a play through.

What? Why are you lying?

I don't know if I could disagree with you more.... the whole campaign felt so fresh, it was like crispy lettuce wrapped around fresh avocado, tomato and bacon.

The campaign innovations were monumental IMO, and in turn, has made my enjoyment of the MP much more, I feel like I'm part of the Militia now, and have a new found deep respect for Pilots in the TF universe.
