Curved are supposed to solve the issue of viewing angles and color washout, however, they suffer from worse backlighting, light bleeding, cloudiness. I have yet to see a curved panel that matches the flat panel of the same model. I think the inherent curve itself affects it. OLED curved because of the nature of the technology does not suffer like LCD panels do.
Edge lighting typically does that. The curve in screens even OLEDS (which don't share the problem obviously) is a stupid fucking gimmick that barely improved viewing angle at the expense of the user, increased costs, lack of backlighting and reduced local dimming capabilities. The potential quality of the TV is reduced typically by the curved screen.
But it looks cool right!
Definitely worth it.
