Blizzcon 2016 - THE YEAR OF THE DEVIL? WE SHALL SEE!

Which Blizzcon announcement are you most hyped for?

Results are only viewable after voting.
No those panels aren't free. Worth noting that they're usually up on youtube by the next day though. And of course any info will be posted by people with access.

Ah, same as last year. Most likely will just keep eye on MMO Champion, Reddit subs and GAF for info as it comes in. Blizzard panels are usually good stuff, but not 30€ good imo.

Is there a youtube link for the opening ceremony? Since I'm not getting the Virtual Ticket this year, just wondering where to watch the opening.

Crowd's ready. Maybe we'll get some pre-ceremony leaks from people walking around the displays again. Doors open 30 mins before the opening ceremony.

Only three official listings are the Blizzard site, Twitch, and MLG.tv.

more likely Main Stage 8pm EST (Diablo 20th Anniversary)

i...if you hate Zarya we can't be friends. :(
Makes 0 sense to not announce it during it's opening ceremony to not only hit that early news cycle but also to entice non-pass holders to jump in to see a bunch of stuff at 8pm when a bunch of information and possible gameplay will be dumped.

Can you use the viewer on blizzcon's website to watch the opening free?

Is that Dan Ryckert in the blue shirt? :D

Guys I think I found a girl in that crowd! Don't quote me though I could be wrong. Lol why do we all look alike? :(

When is the opening ceromony, and is that like there press conference where they announce all there stuff like diablo 4 and sombra ;)
It's at 11AM PDT so a little under three hours. And yes, think of it like their E3 press conference. Usually starts with a keynote and progresses through the major announcements for all their IPs.

Is Blizzard the only company that can get away with making their fans pay to watch this stuff online?

I have, and did. $40 seems a bit much, but the panels are worth it.

I really wish it was cheaper like $20 or something. The free pet is getting old though, no more murlocs!

Everything important will be announced at the opening ceremony, which is free for everyone. And the extra details that come out of the panels will be up online through sites like MMo-Champ pretty much right away, and the panels themselves usually end up on youtube in a day or two.

No one is forcing you to pay anything.

wait you have to pay and watch the panel after some of the announcements are done....

you know what that means don't you...

people who make other people pay to watch for a conference....

At least fans can pay a small fee to see all the panels.

At Comic Con you potentially have to pay thousands to see just a few panels.

If the panels are excellent and interesting, I see no problem with this.

I wasn't being critical of the practice or the fans that choose to pay, so I don't think it's "forced" on anyone. It's just pretty interesting that Blizzard gets their fans to pay to, in a sense, be advertised to about their products. If anything, I'm saying good for them for garnering that sort of reputation. I just can't think of a single other game company that fans would pay to watch panels, etc., online.

Edit: JK Money, didn't you already put Blizzard on the list?

anyone have any idea when they may talk about overwatch at all during the event?

Official description of OW panel reads as follows; "Join the Overwatch developers as they discuss the newest heroes, maps, brawls, and gameplay features in Blizzard’s team-based first-person shooter."

One would expect talk about Ana and Sombra, maybe tease new hero. Talk about event brawls and only new map with possible tease for next new map. And so forth.

If the panels are excellent and interesting, I see no problem with this.

Blizzard panels usually are great if into even some nuts and bolts info about development choices.

I'm really hoping it's not a D3 expansion. D3 has been a dumpster fire from the beginning and they (as they have admitted) would have to change the core design of the game to change simple things like even more stash space or skill design.

Hopefully if they do announce Diablo 4 they will finally understand what made D2 so great (lobbies, pvp, MFing, and trading).

As for WoW I hope they talk more about the story
so we can see who fucks up the world with the infinity stones-- I mean pillars of creation, probably Khadgar you asshole

Have you played the game since RoS? I mean it's really improved since then.

It might not be what you expect from the game, but it's hardly a dumpster fire.
By far the most successful ARPG out there atm.

There's ~6 overwatch panel's; 3 today, 3 tomorrow. They're mostly focused on design except for the fist one today focused on new content (not including opening ceremony).
Anything significant will get a thread on Gaf during opening ceremony or the during the "Overwatch - What's New" Panel @ 1:30 PDT.

PvP as great part of D2? Oh wow.... :D

Also D3 may have its flaws even today, but what they did to it with RoS really salvaged that shitshow. It's actually quite fun ARPG currently and seasons give good reason to keep coming back for few weeks to month at a time.

That doesn't take much tho. Blizzard's standing in industry and widely known IP [Diablo] was destined to sell insane numbers no matter what. Vanilla D3 was easily worst out of three available around that time, Torchlight 2 and Path of Exile Torchlight 2 has its following still afaik, but no huge legs. PoE is going strong and is that Diablo 2 2.0 experience that a lot Diablo fans expected from D3.

Considering we know what happens at the end of the Nighthold thanks to the datamined cinematics,
it's doubtful the next patch will be Old God related
. I'm betting the next expansion will be centred around N'zoth and Azshara.

I dont know what the player count right now, but Path of Exile had about 12,000 playing last night, pretty good for the end of a league. Also I dont know how much money path of exile makes on micro transactions. Both are pretty successful though.

overwatch needs a huge content push.......new stuff is coming at an agonizingly slow rate and virtually everyone i know who was playing a month ago has moved on.

What are you talking about? These has been huge content push. We had Summer Games few months back and just now had mandatory Halloween event. All that new and fresh content!

The opening ceremony is two hours from now?

Yep

Successful =/= good. Diablo 2 LoD to this day has various mod realms and the B.Net realms still have a decent population for trading and playing with others. There's a reason that it has endured that long while Diablo 3 is fading far into memory.

Diablo 3 vanilla was designed to have big patches which causes it to lag behind competition and thus fall into irrelevancy. A Diablo game with micro-transactions and updates every month is more ideal for this type of game which Diablo 3 cannot offer due to how it was designed.

As long as they keep people coming back every time they roll out a new event, I think they'll do fine. Playing every day doesn't sell lootboxes like an event does. I know a ton of folks who stopped playing after launch come back just for the Halloween content.

I don't disagree, but the special events have been pretty good at getting me and my friends back into the game for a week or two at the very least. Definitely think they need to add maps/modes/heroes a bit more frequently than they have been though.

i mean maps and characters, basically, not emotes and sprays. obviously i cannot speak to everyone but halloween event barely rekindled interest in the group i play(ed) with for more than a couple of hours after all the thirsty nerds were done """""""luckily winning"""""" the witch mercy skin.

Shit. I thought the opening ceremony was at 1am my time, it's at 3am. I need to be somewhere tomorrow morning. :(

Sleepy time it is.
