Buying a 4K TV for PS4K thread!

Oh I know. I've been in the Retro AV Club thread asking them far too many questions about the XRGB-Mini. I still don't trust myself to configure and use one correctly.
It's all about how much you'd be willing to invest in the cables really. Avoid JP-21 if you do and you shouldn't have much trouble.

I have never heard of price matching with BestBuy if they can't pull up and see the price.

I price matched a ton of stuff there, and they always proceed with asking from where and then they pull up the website to confirm.

That's what we're trained to do at least. Occasionally on small items they'll just look at your phone. But a TV? They're going to try and pull it up on their computer or phone usually.

Lol ill straight up log into my perks at work account if they really need to see it on their computer.

Man I want that KS8000 65" but here in Canada its still 3,000 bucks wtf lol

Congrats to those of you snagging it for 1299!!!!

Order it and ship any means necessary to some place. Even with holding costs or duties, you will save almost 1400 bucks.

I was told the website is having issues by a sales rep when I talked to them on the phone an hour or so ago. I was able to add it to cart and checkout as of 2 minutes ago on my phone. 1444.36 with white glove shipping for the 65". Was hoping there wouldn't be any sales tax but w/e, it's a great price.

I would have tried to go out and see if any of my local Best Buys would have matched it but I'm not sure the box would fit in my Kia Soul and didn't want to chance it going out of stock by the time I got there. Good luck to those that are trying it.

Got 5 invites if anyone needs.

Going to try but I wont save 1400, the great american dollar will make sure of that.

It'll be more like 600 but still 600 is 600 haha

Damn im going to use a re-shipping company but the website wont take Canadian Credit Card :(

OMG best buy was totally was gonna do it! I'm so dissapointed! So I ordered it on their site for the $1000 then decided to cancel to try to get them to price match it for $730. But thing is I put the 1st purchase on a credit card and the money didn't go back on yet! Got to the payment part and it wouldn't go through! Aaaarrggghhhh

Did you just show them the deal on your phone?

I still can't set up a perksatwork.com account due to the "email already in use" thing. Has anyone found a solid solution to this?

I initially cleared my cache and closed the browser. I tried again but it didn't work so I clicked on the link for the help center and then clicked on the trouble with initial setup help topic. That took me back to the fedex login. I kept going back and forth and then I logged out of the perks website and then logged back in and it asked me to reset my password. After doing that it took me to the main page for the Fedex Perksatwork account.

I'd love to be able to be more specific but I was clicking around and moving back and forth a lot so I cannot pinpoint what I did exactly. It's possible so don't give up.

I don't think clearing the cache, incognito mode, etc. really did anything for me. I did somehow manage to change my password. I really don't know how it happened though so who knows.... Now I'm debating on whether I should go ahead and pull the trigger on this or wait for the B6/C6 to drop, or to just wait for next year. $760 after tax seems like a steal though for this TV.

Edit: Thanks to everyone for the help. It really does seem to be a matter of trial and error.

That's my problem...I really feel like this technology is going to mature. I want to replace my plasma with an OLED... I'm so conflicted on this TV.

Just tried a best-buy price match they didn't let me match because it was a corporate account/deal or whatever but she almost did it smfh. Might try another bestbuy

It is a steal. I seriously question your purchasing ability if you are in the market for a 4K HDR television and think $760 for an almost flagship level 55" Samsung is something to debate.

Waiting for next year, unless you find this exact same employee purchasing scheme on a mass scale, you won't ever see these prices. Not even black friday or clearance will you see these prices.

In the words of Gandalf, for anyone reading this and wanting a 4k/HDR set, FLY YOU FOOLS!

My best buy told me that TV was not eligible for price matching at all, FWIW. :/ Some "contract deal with samsung."

Thinking I got hosed.

My tv stand is 48 inches wide, would the 55 inch ks8000 fit? I see the stand is a bit smaller than the width of the tv, which bestbuy.com says is 48"...so I assume it'd fit. How is samsung's return policy?

For sure. I 100% would of had it i didn't fuck myself over. The guy ringing me out even brought the manager to price match it.

You were lucky, otherwise there is no way they would be allowed to price match employee pricing from a corporate site of a product. Seems to be a YMMV type of thing.

Fuck I paid 1700 for the KS 65". It will be shipped tomorrow to my friends place in Michigan.

I could have really saved $500 :(

The stand I believe is something like 38". Rtings review says it. The stand being on the side and not the middle is the only reason I haven't bought the TV yet. My TV stand is small lol.

usually they won't let you do that though. like they have to be able to open it and it's kind of at their discretion. I should go to Best Buy and see if they'll do it though. just bring the TV home today and easy returns.

Between my general dislike of anything Samsung (apart from their SSDs), a need for a new RX, a shite internet connection prohibiting 4k Netflix, and a lack of purchase intent for 4k BluRay, a 4k TV just doesn't make any sense for me right now.

Unless my current TV dies I have decided to stick with it for the next 18 months at least. I'll take my supersampled Pro games for the time being.

I still don't want one and yet I still keep looking at this thread.

Been looking at a KD55XD9305BU solely because with cashback its "only" £1440.

I must resist!

So I decided to buy it, the Sony 55XD93 (55X93D in the US). Currys have a 10.5% cashback going, and the free soundbar I should be able to sell for at least £100, though I've seen them sell at £150 on ebay.

So I go to order. The TV I can have delivered tomorrow, great! The soundbar is now collection only...and you can't put the bloody code in to get it free with the TV when it's collection only!

So for now I'm holding off. I could probably walk in to a store and get it all together, but then I don't get the £168 cashback. fml.

So yeah, mildly miffed.
LLShC.gif

I can for the cashback, but because you pay in store and not online you can't use the code you use to get the soundbar for free. So the only remaining option is buy the TV without the free soundbar for £1570, get £168 cashback and be happy with a £1400 TV.

I don't even want the bloody soundbar, but its £100+ I can get back.

Curses.

Well there is is, my shameful history of the thread. Now that Currys seemed to magically get stock of the soundbar at midnight, I've one of these on the way! Not getting here till the 15th since I'm working anyway so no bother there!

How do you get the cashback at Curry's? Is it on all models over a certain price?

A little harsh, but you make valid points.

Yes! Me too. I have to get a TV that fits on a narrow stand, too, thanks to some architectural quirks in how my living room is designed. Only thing that kept me from getting the KS8000 today. Looks like it'll be a Sony or LG at some point for me.

$2,100 all in for me shipped to Mississauga via crossborderpickups

Best Buy sells this TV for $3,500 + tax typically; you're saving $600 x 3

Haha was only joking. Never rush when it comes to large purchases. But the quality and size and price of this deal is unheard of. 55" almost flagship for $729? 65" for 1279? It is on sale right now at Costco for a huge discount and is still $400+ than this deal.

I have only been in the thread to help with information and had purchased a sony X800D just 1.5 months ago and even I ended up purchasing the 65" KS8000 because I won't see this price again. Next years televisions will be better but $1279 for this quality at this size won't be there.

I must say that this is a turn off for me as well.
Same here. The legs are too wide to fit my TV stand. It's probably the main reason I haven't pulled the trigger on this steal of a deal - the other being that I don't exactly NEED a new TV at the moment. :)

...but, for those in the same boat as me, you can always buy something like this;

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0122TVI7U/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A2T4RI5JPP2USG

This TV at $729 + tax + $50 for a different stand is still a steal. It's a no-brainer if you're in the market for an affordable 4K TV and play games.

The stand I believe is something like 38". Rtings review says it. The stand being on the side and not the middle is the only reason I haven't bought the TV yet. My TV stand is small lol.
I don't believe that's accurate. The 55KS8000 itself is 48.2" wide. If you look at any picture of it, you can see the legs extend almost to the edges of the TV. The 60" and the 65" variation, on the other hand, have adjustable legs that can be situated in a narrower position. I'm not sure of the exact distance, but I do believe the 38" you're referring to is for the 60" model...I read a few things advising to steer clear of the 60" though, as that panel is not made by Samsung.

Did you use a Canadian credit card? I can't figure out how to buy it using my Canadian credit card or PayPal.
