Voted at 8am! Hillary got this

Okay, dunno what I'm more indiginant about:

a) Sky News is covering the build-up more than the BBC, who are electing to follow the Royal Letter from Prince Harry with more scrutiny
b) Said broadcaster I have to watch decided to cut off an Oxfam appeal for Syrian refugees to show Trump himself vote

Hillary only needs to take one of those battleground states to win it.

If Florida goes blue, then she has it in the bag.

But no network will call her the winner until the polls close in California.

I've never understood why we don't wait for Hawaii polls to close?

Well I've voted republican my whole adult life, but I just got back for voting for Hilldawg. Feels weird, but I know it's right.

Republicans want to do whatever they can to suppress the minority vote.

Ekai is exactly right. Early voting means people who work hourly jobs and can't afford to miss work on a Tuesday can vote, which for a lot of Republicans means the minority vote has more chance to be exercised. As we saw in NC some Republicans really don't want them at the polls.

Winning for these guys is more important than fairness and equal opportunity.

My ballot:

In the end I couldn't pull the trigger on Trump. While he's someone who I really wanted to vote for on an emotional level, you have to realize that he simply isn't a true believer, just another GOP snake oil salesman, only more bombastic and less intelligent. I am glad he ran, and I hope his movement continues to grow and eventually pushes the Grover Norquist chamber of commerce types out of the party. This time it was free trade, in four years it might be regressive taxation, or lax financial regulation, or labor rights. When the day comes that the base fully awakens and forces the party to move beyond trickle down and hostility to labor, I’ll be ready to support them, but until then I’ll continue to begrudgingly vote for Democrats.

(And yes, I totally broke state law by taking this photo)

Mods should reverse his username.

One last ad I glimpsed before this whole thing is over.

... And seeing the individuals on them - and their descriptions - cracked me up. Yeah, I'm sure the Duck Dynasty millionaires are TOTALLY "middle-class".

Everything relative to Trump. Mere millionaires are middle class to him. Everybody else is poor. =P

Waking up on election day:

Leaving to vote:

After voting:

God I dread the next four years.

My small town of a bit over 1,000 as of the last census had a long line this morning when the polls opened according to the people there I just showed up as it was cleared up. According to them the turnout is way ahead of 2012 so far but I'm in the part of Michigan that doesn't matter so, eh. There's been a real lack of Trump or Clinton signs this election out front of peoples homes which on one hand is surprising but on the other not, I think I've only seen two signs and both were for Trump.

While I was there the city manager had to go out and remove a Trump sign that someone placed by across the street.

Voted for the H (New York so my vote doesn't matter all that much, even if Trump is from here and he has actually run a bunch of campaign ads in the state). Also voted for Democrats down the line aside from one Libertarian candidate for state senate - the "Red Light Robin Hood" who goes around sabotaging all of the red light cams Suffolk County is notorious for :)

Hopefully they'll disappear soon enough

Unlikely. If anything (and sadly) I believe this election, regardless of who wins, will have the undesirable effect of having emboldened the most reactionary, racist and xenophobic groups of people who live in the US. And these people won't simply disappear into a puff of smoke after Trump is defeated/leaves. It'll be something you as a country will have to deal with, and it's not going to be easy. And what is worse, in my opinion, is that everything that Trump did was just revealing what lied under the carpet, but that was always there, hidden.

There are plenty of trump supporters that just make drive by posts to say everyone on GAF is wrong and trump will win but most of them don't stay long enough to actually argue or explain anything.

Strangely synonymous with what put the Republican party in the current position it's in. A largely ignorant base that refuses any attempt to learn about the issues.

No line at my polling place, so in and out in five minutes.

So I'm not sure if it's election related but my girlfriend who works in the District of Columbia says there is a building on fire there.

It's probably just a coincidence but as a reminder, stay safe out there guys. In a world where disgusting people vandalize churches for Trump you can't be too careful.
