Trump and Trump voters are not quite the same thing and while yes, they have tolerance for his bullshit it might not be their highest priority (and objectively they are white and it's not so this has to be accounted for in your strategy). Making a case for your plight gives you the high-ground, call everyone else a racist and they'll just stop listening to you or worsen their opinion. It doesn't matter what a moral stance looks like, some strategies work better than others as unintuitive and regrettable as it might seem.
