Guess the hope now is that Trump fucks up considerably to the point that those who saw something in him become disillusioned will vote against him in four years. He made a lot of promises to make "America Great Again", and other than the same old shit(shipping illegals away, building a wall), he really didn't iron much out. Imagine him NOT living up to what people "thought" he'd deliver. Imagine middle-class whites continuing to suffer. Just because you're white don't mean you ya can't, we ALL suffered through the Recession, and that was during a Republican President. There is a very real possibility that the majority of people in the country support him, and wish for him to be the president of the country. There's a very real possibility that a sizeable number of people just don't consider those to be a significant issue, and a possibility that there is a very sizeable base of people who actually support or hold those disparaging views. This vote would send a message that they're not in the minority, that they're right to hold those views, that those views are reinforced by this election and the substantial support he received, it's an absolutely terrifying prospect to a minority. It's not just the fear of Trump enacting some outright openly hostile, violent campaign against minorities, but the reinforcement it provides to those with sexist, racist, and homophobic views, and the effect this has on society's openness or acceptance of minorities (or even tolerance).

There's going to be a lot of drama surrounding this. And some of it is warranted, the Repubs are going to control all levels of government and that *sucks* for certain progressive issues.

But at the same time, keep a cool head about it. I don't buy that electing Trump will have nation-ending consequences, he has too little actual policy for that and I personally think he just wants the position to stroke his ego.

Not gonna end the world. But it's gonna be interesting to see what happens to all the social programs dems love. Cuz the majority of the country doesn't care.
