And I think the same of you. But the fact is, more Americans seem to agree with me right now than agree with you.

Treat the next four years as a learning opportunity. Keep an open mind. With age comes wisdom.

Its not a learning opportunity at all. The horrible underbelly of this country is written in the history books and it never went away. It's more like a confirming opportunity.

Lol yeah fuck facts. You're stupid for wanting facts.

The majority of America didn't agree with you by the way less than two thirds of the country voted.

Maybe you should use your wisdom to invest in a math textbook.

Well to look at the bright side for those of us living in the UK it means that we can expect a new series of Auf Weidersehen Pet next year. There's a bloomin great big wall that needs building so expect Jimmy Nail and co to hop on a plane with their tools lol

What are your thoughts on electing an openly racist president?
The fact this will fuck over lots of minorities (stop and frisk, muslim ban, mexicans, etc)

Yup. That article is gold. People who look down on other and accuse them of being ignorant, dim-witted, and deplorable only further widens the divide. It helped lead us to where we are now. Fear mongering, bigotry, and racism played large parts obviously, but the smugness of the holier-than-though folks more willing to insult rather than educate played a part.

And the common refrain is that the racists/sexists are just going to die out anyway. Yeah, not with the results we're seeing here, folks. Education is going to be key, and no one likes a condescending teacher.

Democracy is not healthy if people vote against their real interests because they are too fucking ignorant to know better.

That is not the problem of Democracy but rather the corrupt that prefer to keep their population ignorant so they can pull shit like what Trump just did.

This thread also confirms for me what I have suspected for a while: that the U.S. educational system has been well and truly overtaken by leftist teachers and teachings.

Try to keep an open mind and think critically for yourself; I think eventually some of you will come around.

God bless America and all of its people. I don't know what Trump will bring, but I know what Clinton told us she'd bring, and it is not the stuff that made America the greatest country in the world.
A white supremacist is president-elect of the nation with the biggest nuclear armament in the world.

The United States was never the greatest country in the world and it certainly isn't it tonight.

No, it isn't. Bigotry, religious fanaticism, and gun nuttery is. Don't make this more complex than it is. I know these people, I know how they think.

what about the ones who voted for obama last election and now trump? while those are big factors in play there are other things that have been overlooked.

Is there a video montage yet of people who voted for Trump saying 'I didn't think he would win?' ala Brexit?

I'm waiting for the open and frank xenophobia that just got a massive validation. The sexism will stay under the radar because lets face it, Trump's horrible shit involving women is never getting mentioned again.

No, it isn't. Racism and ignorance is. Don't make this more complex than it is. I know these people, I know how they think.

You know 49.1% of voting Americans? You can't just lump together such an overwhelming majority of people as being motivated by racism and ignorance.

The fact of the matter is that the Democrats lost it because they bet on the most uninspiring and unlikable candidate in recent memory. Hillary lost an election you or I could have won and everyone, Democrats included, assumed it was all natural course.

You know the worst part about this is that he denies climate change.

This is one of the most important issues in the next hundred years as a species. And the most powerful country in the world not only denies it, but also blames it to the second most powerful country in the world as a hoax.

In addition to a host of other issues, but this also bother me about. It's such a comically stupid stance that is going to fuck over the rest of the world. With repubs controlling the country I can't imagine the propaganda to deny it.

try again
Pretty sure this is exactly what I was talking about. Thanks for proving my point. By adopting a smug attitude, liberals (who I mostly agree with, BTW, in case anyone wants to fling some ad hominems) are ultimately pushing the divide further apart. The inability to consider that others arrive at their viewpoints through the experiences that life has thrown their way rather than simple stupidity is why this and Brexit happened. Why would these people, "voting against their self interest," ever listen to the horde of people who have no time for them save to call them "fucking idiots," "bigots," "assholes," and the like? You guys can continue to alienate those people, who read Twitter, who are on Facebook. You're sure as shit not going to convince anyone, but at least you'll feel good about yourself as you bask in your innate superiority.

I'll that ya what though, Carlin sure was right.

"Garbage in, garbage out."

I've basically lost all hope that humanity will transcend all this pettiness in my lifetime at this point.

so im hearing it wasnt even close? what were the numbers?

do these people really exist?

I'm not going to humor anyone kicking "both sides" and frankly I think it should be banworthy

Open mind? To what? Tolerating bigotry? Sexism? Laughing at disabled people? Calling women fat pigs? Singling out an entire race of people because of their religion? Grabbing them by the pussy? Etc.?

It seems like a lot of silent trump supporters are suddenly asking for unity, which is great.

But where the fuck were you guys when he was saying and doing all that crazy shit?

No, it's not some kind of conspiracy. The population being low information in regards to politics, regardless of the party, is always gonna be the case.

And yet look how they voted. Look at who is going to suffer under this presidency and beyond with the loss of the Supreme Court.

I always think critically and I disagree with pretty much everything you advocate.

America is not the greatest country in the world and its never been.

You are not the greatest poster in NeoGAF and never have been. Kidding aside, the Constitution was an incredible achievement, and don't forget our involvement in WWII, that we put the first man on the moon, our medical and scientific advancements, etc. What country would you put as tops? The word, "great", is a pretty subjective world, I realize, but I gotta know what ground you're standing on here.

I can absolutely lump them together, look who they voted for.

I see one positive and one positive only. That Trump will be so bad it will motivate the population to protest and create a revolution that might lead to the actual changes needed in government. Don't think this would have happened with Hilary, but BAD BAD BAD needs to happen before people are motivated to move.

Don't shut your minds off to this very shitty situation disillusioned dems. Be MORE involved, me MORE critical, and be MORE focused on what your government is doing.

Watch the corporations that you syphon your weekly earnings to and watch if what they are doing is fair and just.

This could be an opportunity here folks, it could be.

No reaction from Germany yet?

Seems they are still shocked.

What do you expect? Whe had our own Trump and its hard to see when other countrys are stupid enough to do the same mistake.

God Damn Americans you should have learned from history but you decided to repeat it. Brilliant.
