Perfect

Another thing people are not talking much about is the fact that The US has lost its moral high ground in the world.

When you can elect a racist, sexist scumebag you already lost the right to lecture the world on anything.

Polls are bullshit and will never be statistically accurate. Margins of error are too much.
Surveys in medicine always cling to extremely conservative measure, painstakingly so.

I thought I would learn from Brexit, but I didn't. It shouldn't shock me as much as it did.

Far from it; I am saddened and disgusted by the general tenor of this thread. What I want is for Americans to stop with the identity politics and start using their heads. I encourage people to set aside their biases and engage their intellectual curiosity--that's always a good thing.

But it's not my responsibility to convince or persuade anyone here. You are responsible for forming your own beliefs.

I wish you the best. You are in charge of your own happiness.
Hahaha, really now. Run on a platform of hate. Please set aside your differences afterwards. For real?

I've said this time and time again but some people have a very "you're either with me or against me" attitude which isn't going to accomplish anything. Human beings are capable of changing and learning. If more people actually look the time to try to have actual discussions instead of spouting accusations at each other then maybe some people would learn something. Once you accuse someone of being a racist/sexist/sjw etc or lump them into those camps because they simply don't agree with you then most people are going to tune out and not give a shit about what you have to say.

I don't think you understand how much over the years people have tried and tried and tried and tried tirelessly to communicate to them. So many times we told them to have some empathy for those lesser, put them in their shoes, research factual history that schools refuse to teach you. And in response we get people trying to smear progress as some evil boogeyman. We can't talk Feminism and Women's Equality without "feminazi" and "sjw" being thrown. We can't talk racism without white people telling us that racism is over and "MLK would be disappointed in you". 8 years later and people are still calling Obama a Muslim terrorist. There is so many tools out there to better understand another person's situation but it's become pretty clear that most ignorant people really do not give a fuck. They don't care. They actively want us to be negatively effected by this. A man endorsed by the KKK is now President. These people are not listening.

Honestly, it's increasingly likely both parties might go with puppets to act as salespeople for their camp. We know you don't need the experience, knowledge, dignity, etc. to be the leader of the country. I remember people (not just Jamie Foxx) talking about Jesse Williams starting a political career to run in a couple years. Same kinds of talk around Michelle Obama. We past all that now.

Give Tom Hanks a blank check and let him play his third or fifth more challenging role.

Clint Eastwood vs. George Clooney. 2020 lets go baby.

like both actors, but obviously different affiliations here.

I kinda hope the rust belt supporters and everyone else that helped vote him in get obliterated by the kinds of policies he and his crony cabinet will enact.

From everything I've seen as an outsider, they'll always have something else to blame other than themselves when it comes to unintended consequences of voting Trump in, even if their choices and actions have fed into those circumstances. Or a baseless ridiculous statement to justify voting against their own interests.

They'll blame the economy.
They'll blame globalisation.
They'll blame China.
Something something better than Clinton.
Something something Obama and Obamacare.
Bootstraps.

Don't get me wrong, like here in the UK, there are vast swathes of the US who have been left behind over the past thirty years, who have struggled to cope with a post manufacturing world, who see globalisation as the enemy, who blame immigration for so much, who have no point of reference to move to more socially liberal times and multiculturalism, who have no hope and feel cut off. However Trump is not the answer to these problems.

if the Democrats really want to copy Trump's blueprint for success they need to like convince the fucking Rock to run in 2020 or something. Seriously the bar has been lowered. You just need someone who can "excite" people with zero substance.

The demographics were supposed to be overwhelmingly in favor of the Democrats. Women and minorities voted for trump, and there was general apathy towards clinton.

They don't need fucking Kanye West, just someone not hillary clinton.

These people already ARE obliterated and Trump was the only one even pretending to care.

Insightful post into the mindset that caused the dems to be steamrolled into oblivion today, tho.

Presidential election: Donald Trump would have lost if Bernie Sanders had been the candidate

He's such a fucking idiot too, such an idiot. He's out there peddling Conspiracies Theories, man. What have we done?

Put your shit together Europe, you're basically the last bastion of freedom now.

Freedom Europe?

lol.

In Italy we are missing an elected government since the last Berlusconi, this dude we have now has been put there surely not by a popular vote.

We are hostage of our beloved European economic technicians, if you call that freedom...

There is a reason that explains why everywhere in Europe it's advancing populism, we feel asphyxiated, hostage of a political elite that is clueless on new visionary proposals and blind on the big issues the population is versed in.

Help out an ignorant -

When Trump said he'll put a 45% tariff on Chinese imports in his first 100 days, will that apply to anything manufactured out of China and sold in America?

So... iPhones? All electronics, basically?

If so, isn't that going to completely fuck up the consumer economy in the US, at least in the short and mid term? I doubt companies will just swallow that themselves.

Or is there fine print on that kind of tariff?

i don't think anybody knows

his "policies" were statements designed to attract voters, not to be followed-through with any clear plan or projected result

Eh, it's not an american exclusive phenomenon, a lot of Europe's countries are in the shit too and this year or the next there are elections in France and Germany with the fascists and racists having some real chances (at least in France, Germany I'm not so sure). Spain just chose a stupid, clueless, babbling idiot as president for example.

All of the western world is getting more stupid and more scared as time passes and the more progressive politics have no room amongst all this fear and stupidness. Not that the progressive politicians are smart enough or can get across the message, mind you.

We are in the dark ages now because of fear and egoism, something big must happen so that people will wake up. Never underestimate human stupidness, all of this has happened and will happen again, we are just like that. Just brace yourselves.

They will still be finding a way to blame Obama until at least 2030.

I just need to say it again our rights are at stake here.

I cried when Wisconsin tallied. I cried for woman, I cried for minority's, LGBT, people with disabilities, and the list goes on. Guys wtf has this country done.

This is one of the few things I don't see getting through Congress. But, yeah, that tarriff would basically fuck consumer goods prices and murder the middle/lower classes.

I guess the next question is if a Republican congress will keep him in check. If he continues to antagonise the 'establishment republicans' who don't go along with things like this that he wants to do, they could make life difficult for themselves mutually. Which maybe is no bad thing...

He's going to surround himself with establishment Republicans....but he's anti-establishment.

He's a spoonfed billionaire 1%er.....but he's looking out for the little guy.

He brags about skirting tax loopholes and won't release his returns....but he's going to clean up wall street and Washington corruption.

He outsources all of his own production business outside of the country...but he's going to bring back blue collar jobs.

The logic of a Donald J. Trump supporter.

Exactly.

We're apparently not allowed to discuss racism anymore after the most (negatively) racially charged presidential candidate that I can remember has become leader of the USA. You know, because "racism had nothing to do with it!" and everyone who was concerned with his racism/sexism/assholery was just missing the "real issues".

But when you dig down into his core tenets, they don't even make sense. They're a direct contradiction of his CURRENT every day life.

So what do you have left to talk about apart from "FUCK HILLARY CLINTON!". I find it truly hard to believe that Hillary Clinton truly pissed off so many people.

Its all a shitshow.

Truly, it appears that anger, hatred, and "feelings" about the way things are are more important than facts, critical thought, and a genuine desire for understanding in this new world tainted by populist rhetoric.

You know what, guys and gals? For being such a smart bunch of caring liberals, the hatred shown toward me in this thread speaks volumes of you.

Guess you're not the wonderful, welcoming, and inclusive people you all pretend to be.

Much easier to project your problems onto others you don't agree with, I suppose.

The good news is, you have four years to learn differently, if Donald Trump does right by the people and the country.

He may. He may not. I can only hope for the best.

I'll just leave this here to lighten the mood.

Ashamed of my country. That so many would fail here. It's staggering and I just can't reconcile it.

It's 1:44am and I just can't sleep. I lye here thinking about my children and their safety. My family and My friends families. Ebbing and flowing from the pain of the present moment, where this country has come from and for the future.

To wake to this awful news, I basically have no words. You fucked up America. This is the man that represents your country now. You have elected Donald Trump to be your leader. Let that sink in for a moment. That's how fucked US of A is as a country.

Feels like after Brexit. Quite numb at the moment, and then I am going to calmly and collectedly drink myself silly this afternoon.

Clinton just not showing up is indeed, spineless.

Way to thank the people that worked tirelessly on your campaign.

I agree.

Her supporters put in a ton of work, time, and money into her campaign.

She should have given some type of speech to her supporters.
