You know how Drumpf won?

Hillary's deplorables comment. She poked the sleeping rurals and they all went cyber on her, themselves and everyone.

Definitely knew that would be bad for her the moment it leaked even if I didn't disagree that 50% of Trump supporters were deplorables. Didn't think it'd cost the election. Still don't think it did.

Wikileaks one-sided leaking the dem's stuff was definitely a factor.

I begrudgingly voted Trump. If the Dems had given me a candidate I could have gotten behind I would have voted Dem. People loved jumping on me for my choice and calling me all kinds of names. Feeling a bit justified now. Still, really shitty that these were our choices.
Oh you'll feel fucking justified in four years alright.

Thanks for voting to taking my rights away!

Registered as non affiliated, white guy, begrudgingly voted Hillary over a third party for fear of the current situation, started drinking when PA got Trumped. All I can say right now to minorities, LGBTQ community, women and, any one else this affects is to look for the helpers. Not all of us are bad and there are good people that are just ignorant to what they did. Please be safe and find people you can trust. The powers that be can try to tear us apart but we have to stay strong as people.

I'm gonna pass out and hope this is a nightmare.

Why would they take it personally if they weren't, in fact, deplorable?

yeah of course but lets face it. time to stop calling a spade a spade, these morons need to be talked to like they are being empathized with....without condoning the bigotry they have.

it's a very tricky tightrope but it's gotta be done. many of these voters do have understandable reasons to vote for trump as well as some really hateful ones too. the democratic party needs to appeal to their concerns that don't stem from bigotry.

and in some cases racists can have their minds changed. it's about finding a way to reach them. it's time to take back some of these states. seems like they've been hardwired to be republican for far too long.

In a very morbid and selfish way I want to see how Trump ruins the lives of his dear supporters and how long it will take for them to understand what they did to their country and the future of their children.

Let's be honest oti, they'll blame other people. That's how it always works. People don't learn.

Poor whites though.

There's a 100k difference in the popular vote now. Half of Washington hasn't reported in. 16% of California.

Yep. Hillary won the popular vote. The majority of the country voted against Trump and now we get him and a Congress that will give him a blank check.

white weenie decks are hard to beat if you build wrong

Hillary lost because over 7 million Democrats did not come out to vote for her. Obama won with nearly 66 million votes. As it stands right now Hillary has 58.5 million. EVen Trump is about 2 million behind what Romney had in 2012.
Her numbers speak for themselves, awful dem turnout, either out of confidence or distaste (or both)

This has been my stance with Brexit as well.

At least there's a small (albeit incredibly small) chance Brexit may now not happen though...

The lack of empathy here on both sides is abhorrent. Everyone is either a cartoon villain racist or some bleeding heart hippy. People are complex animals, with varying experiences, communities, and needs. This leads to differing worldviews and opinions. Believe it or not, it wasn't a choice between two clone candidates, only one was a racist, sexist shit bag and the other a saint. The vast majority of people on Trumps side weren't voting for "fuck yeah racism! Grab them minorities by the pussy!" the same way that Clinton voters weren't voting for "take all the money away from hard working Americans."
That so many people in these threads have so little empathy towards their fellow man to distill their unique personal interests into these crude mockeries of reasoning is disturbing.

I have quite a lot of empathy, but have none for racists or those who choose to ignore any logic, reason, or actual discussion. I remember at the beginning of this year, in a GAF thread, I said that trump was a racist for what he had said about asians, and about the children who are given automatic citizenship if born in the US and the mother is married to a US citizen. I was told, he's not being racist at all about some of the comments he made. There are many who chose to to ignore every horrible thing he said. There was no way to have a reasonable debate because you got shut out when you talked about his actions. But ohhh thank you wise one for telling people to to act and feel when people have a reaction and genuine fear of a man who wants to destroy lives. What won tonight was racism, sexism, xenophobia, and more. His ideals and policies are hateful and he inspires and incites more hate. There's no defending it and anyone trying to rationalize it is living in denial.

I agree.

I'm going to admit right now that I have been a Trump supporter for over a year. But I didn't talk about it because I felt I'd be tarred and feathered over it. I saw the binary nature of us versus them on both sides and said 'I'm playing this close to the chest.' As for why I supported him, I wanted Trump to either destroy the Republican establishment because I was fed up with their lukewarm shit or change the world. And honestly? He got both and I'm ecstatic over it. For better or worse, I will own it. I understand all of the shit he said/did rubbed people the wrong way, and he definitely went overboard a few times. But I just wanted something different than DC insiders. Bernie, for all of the outsider talk, isn't an outsider. The dude looked like his soul was destroyed after endorsing Hillary, and his supporters felt cheated, and got validated from it via WikiLeaks. But honestly, that was a debate that I think would've been enlightening to everyone. But since it didn't (and probably won't due to Bernie's age) happen, we have to think about where we go from here.

Broly, you going to tell everyone that Hillary was going to bring the apocalypse? It's something you said in your tumblr post and over Twitter in our quibbles. It seemed like one of your big factors besides a world war 3, that she would make 1 world government which would bring about the apocalypse. You seemed downright paranoid about it this past week. It is absolutely clear in your post here that you know everything he stood for was wrong but you still voted for him and against millions of people's interests and their very lives and well being. Your hopes that this will change things a great deal and your "no risk, no reward" statement feels like you treated this entire thing like a game when it's not. It's real life, with real people like myself who will be severely hurt by this. You voted for someone that thinks PoC's, women, the disabled are subhuman and a vice president that wants to put every gay in electroshock therapy for conversion. And you seem to feel no shame about it because you think some big change will happen that shakes the establishment. Trump is still the establishment, and you helped him get there as well as a nation under the rule of the republican party that you want to destroyed or reformed. And boy did he reform the party, he rejuvenated them with all kinds of hatred, giving people more positions and more like that to join the ranks openly and further into the mainstream. The Klu Klux Klan are currently celebrating openly over this occasion.

I'm absolutely terrified for the things to come. For my friends, my family, for everyone. I'm also terrified for myself since I am a disabled person.

Leicester crowned PL champs, Brexit, Portugal wins the Euro, Cubs are champions, Trump is the president of mfkin USA HURRAAHHH.

What a year.

What the hell happened? At 8pm it seemed Trump was about to get his ass kicked. I watch a movie and turn on the news at couple hours later and suddenly he turned it around. Early voting vs those voting today?

Btw, she will likely win the popular vote thanks to California. She will probably win close in Michigan. About the same 25,000 votes Trump won Wisconsin. Looks like he will win Arizona. He is up 70,000 votes with 98% reporting there.

Pennsylvania was the key. Republicans have been trying desperately to put the state in play every 4 years, and somehow Donald Trump does it. Fucking insane.

You feel justified in emboldening and supporting a racist platform? One that has the KKK thanking God for electing Trump?

it was also likely partially places reporting that hillary was basically a sure thing.

funny thing.

when you tell someone that it's basically a sure thing that a person is going to win... they have a bad habit of not going out and voting for that person because it doesn't matter.

you know... until 6 mil people do that same thing :/

Let's be honest oti, they'll blame other people. That's how it always works. People don't learn.

Yup, I thought there would be a similar silver lining to Brexit, but those guys who championed British sovereignty, turned on our own judges when they witnessed British sovereignty in action.

Well it sucks, but the votes are in. Rather I like it or not, Donald is my president. I hope for the best with him at the helm.

Why would they take it personally if they weren't, in fact, deplorable?
Does it matter? You can think it, but you don't have to say it to their face. It's idiotic.

Its not going to convince them to vote for you. Or anyone. You only increase their conviction that you're the establishment that doesn't give a fuck about them. And see what happens?

It's still hard to understand that this has actually happened.

I almost feel like a lot of nations need to implement some kind of test where voters have to show that they know something about politics before they can vote. Trump might not have been able to vote for himself.

I begrudgingly voted Trump. If the Dems had given me a candidate I could have gotten behind I would have voted Dem. People loved jumping on me for my choice and calling me all kinds of names. Feeling a bit justified now. Still, really shitty that these were our choices.

I don't get the logic. You wanted to vote Democrat. But the candidate wasn't that good. So you pull a complete 180 and go for someone the exact opposite of what you want?

Seriously. I don't understand people that thinks this way. It's basically throwing stones at your own home.

No wonder you get these results, people really don't think about the politics, just who is the politic.

Nobody listened to Michael Moore, he was right that Trump was going to win because the white public were angered about losing their jobs and the government/politicians ignoring them.

Saddest thing for me is that the world can't afford 4-8 years of a president that doesn't believe global warming is real. It could be the nail in the coffin when it comes to hope of reducing CO2 emissions enough to limit warming to below 2C. It was a slim hope even with reasonable people like Obama/Clinton in charge.

Yep.. At least try the primary bro. Rubio and Fuckin Ted would probably beat Hillary too. Damn.

Rubio and Ted aren't winning the Rust Belt based on their economic policies.

There's a reason those states went red for the first time in 30 years. And it mostly has to do with Trump.
