am I understanding this correctly??

I am watching the live results right this very second and it appears to be that about 120'000 americans made the difference.

so basically Brexit again? Brexit was 51% to 49% if I remember correctly. this is 48% vs 48%

I now in the US you have to win by state and not plain number of votes so I am not sure if the situation is similar.

actually the american voting system is screwed up and it's not a popular vote thing.

you can actually win the presidency with 22% of the vote

in this case Hillary is likely going to have the majority but still lose like 300-220 (i'm to tired to figure out the exact numbers.)

Tell that to the single parent who can only find part time jobs thanks to the ACA fucking it up for everyone.

Believing every Trump supporter is a racist is one of the reasons why they fucking won.

People had problems and like fucking clockwork were swept under the bus by the left.

Good job, guy. Real nice. Thanks for steeling people who could have been on our side had we a shred of understanding it's not just about racism or xenophobia.

Get the fuck out of that echo chamber, guy.

That's sounds awfully nice.
What is Trump's specific tax and healthcare solution for single parent families. Feel free to link it!

UK:"Brexit was one of the most selfdestructive things a nation can do."

USA:"Lol. Here hold my drink and watch me."

This election is probably good for the video game industry and holywood if noone else. People will have more need for escapism than ever.

Just woke up to this and still feels like a bad dream..i really thought clinton will win.

And that's coming from someone who is living in Europe.

I just don't get it. First Brexit and now this, unbelievable.

i mean if you are willing to overlook trumps numerous sexist facist racist etc flaws
and vote repub regardless...
basically the same as looking the other way because it suits you

So, we've already blamed SJWs, not being nice enough to racists, calling out Trump's flaws and the DNC for electing a woman so far. Please internet and GAF, do continue to reconfirm my newfound beliefs in a shitty humanity.

"Welcome to a brand-new beginning, you sorry shits!"

but yeah, saw that shit coming during the primaries.

Hillary polled incredibly poorly against trump...
while Sanders roflstomped the entire Republican field.

except trump is against blood and violence in games. so there is a decent chance they might target games for extreme censorship.

And Greece too.Obama helped a lot Greece last year when it was half a step away from Grexit.

Greece is beyond saving at this point. Grexit is almost inevitable at this point not matter how long they try to delay it.

On a side note Obama is coming to Athens in the next few days. I really don't want to see his speech when he gets here. It will look dreadful, all his legacy gone overnight.

Hillary may actually end up winning the popular vote and still lose. Amazing.

That's what happened 16 years ago with Gore.

Also Gore lost his home state of Tennessee if he just won that he wouldn't have needed Florida.

Which is like how Hillary lost MI, PA and WI.

Anyway this is a repeat of 2000, except Dubbya wasn't a demagogue.

Don't insult them. Don't talk down to them like they're stupid and wrong about everything. Be a likable person.

Would it be enough? I don't know, I'm not a politician. Obama somehow managed to convince enough of them (white people)

But Obama is charismatic and likeable while Hillary isn't. You can't ask her to be Obama.

I'm not for mandatory voting but when you get 55% voter turnout for the most important election in your country there is definitely something wrong with education and/or the voting system.
If it was made easier to vote, making online voting available nation wide, more people would vote. I'm not surprised 45 % of the country is too lazy to make an important decision at all

He is? First time I'm hearing this. Source?

That being said, Hillary has taken positions on violent video games in the past as well, so that really wouldn't be a point of difference.

at least he has his priorities straight. at least he's totally up for state-sanctioned torture "worse than waterboarding"

America just stepped on a landmine, heard the click, now can't move an inch in fear they'll be blown to hell. Anybody wanna come and defuse this??? Nobody?

George Carlin would be laughing his ass off.

I think the most sobering thing about all of this, is that basically every single minority, every single gay, trans, bi, etc. and every single person who wanted a better tomorrow was just basically given the biggest "fuck you!" ever. And with the Repubs potentially holding all the cards, this truly feels like the bad ending to a video game, except it isn't.

I wish I gotten a drink, it would have made the pain more bearable.

Even if we are, we shouldn't speed it up. The human race will kill itself and I don't want to see it in my lifetime.

If the human race kills itself in your lifetime, it won't be because of global warming, unless as a side effect. Things will be pretty shitty though. The important thing is not to cling to delusions, but prepare for the inevitable.

The Supreme Court trending towards a conservative super majority says hi.
Alright sure but if you're white and not a woman, not LGBT+, and not Muslim, everything's going to be A-OK for you and your circle of totally diverse friends!

Well, maybe not for most of your friends. But that's OK, you can find newer whiter straighter maler ones.

Saddest thing for me is that the world can't afford 4-8 years of a president that doesn't believe global warming is real. It could be the nail in the coffin when it comes to hope of reducing CO2 emissions enough to limit warming to below 2C. It was a slim hope even with reasonable people like Obama/Clinton in charge.

This is my biggest fear. Just a few days ago we were talking about how there's no time left to act against global warming and how the US is essential so that it provides an example to other nations about the necessity to change policies... and now this. I think history will see this election as the beginning of the end for our civilization as we know it. This might have been the last nail in the coffin indeed.

So, honest question: could this lead to actual civil unrest in the US? Or despite all the negatives of this election, will the public just try to deal with it an move on?

Asking due to that shared post of anti-Trump protests.

a referendum against progress, essentially.

This almost feel appropriate, especially after all the "Relax, he can't win." that GAF have been saying for the past 2 years.

As a South African, you guys just voted the equivalent of Jacob Zuma into office. This is surreal. The only difference is that internationally, we are inconsequential. At least we knew what we were getting into, the guy had 783 criminal charges against him when he came into office.

Enjoy the next 8 years. I know we have.

On the plus side, having a complete moron in office really destroys the support base of the ruling party. The opposition parties did exceptionally in our recent municipal elections, and 2019 might be the first time since 1994 that the ANC looses a national election. There's also increasing pressure internally from the ANC to recall Zuma, so maybe Trump will get recalled too?

Well when we attempt to analyze Hillary's shortcoming and see where she mistepped we get people saying that she was flawless, Even after that trailing loss.

Hillary just wasn't a strong candidate for what the American public wanted. They wanted to turn the establishment on its head and Hillary was the establishment.

People who felt they didn't get the change they wanted from Obama are now attempting to see if Trump will make America great again.

It's fine.

It'll be fine!

It's just fine.

Hey, turn up the air conditioning, will you? This heat is killing me.
