hahahahhahaha wow

I don't know what to say. Obviously Clinton was not a great candidate either but I think the worst outcomes from her presidency wouldn't begin to touch his. If we get out without either WWIII or a violent revolution and a gutted constitution then hopefully we'll have more moderate choices on both sides in 2020. Not holding my breath tho. I'm not sure America realizes what's it done until its too late.

Dude, why would you have more moderate choices on both sides when the Republicans just won the election while being as racist and sexist as possible?

I went to bed during last night's hysteria in hopes that I could wake up to some good news. I want to go back to bed. I can't believe what I'm seeing. This fool really won?

The saddest thing about this is climate change.

Social issues, economics etc can be fixed in the future. If we do nothing to combat climate change, the world is fucked. Four years of Trump as president pretty much spells doom.

I've already been thinking about whether I truly want to bring children into this world, this makes that decision even harder.

As with any sport, it's all about individual matchups

Only Trump could beat Clinton. Every other matchup just favored her too much. On the flipside, Bernie creams him.

So.

The voting was rigged I guess? Can we use that? They wanted to say that. Surely we can now? I wanna say the voting was rigged.

BBC article

This was not just a rejection of Hillary Clinton but also a rejection by half of the country of Barack Obama's America, but that is a piece for another day.

This election, surely the most extraordinary in American history, was a revolt against the political establishment.
And few people personify the political establishment more than Hillary Clinton. During this campaign, for millions of angry voters, she became the face of America's broken politics.
Donald Trump managed to persuade enough voters in enough states that he offered a fix. The billionaire cast himself successfully as the ultimate outsider against the ultimate insider. He was the protest candidate. She represented the status quo.

Constantly, Hillary Clinton claimed that she was the most qualified candidate. Constantly, she recited her curriculum vitae - her experience as first lady, a US senator for New York, a secretary of state.
But in this mad-as-hell election, where there was so much rage and discontent, Donald Trump's supporters saw experience and qualifications as huge negatives. So many people I spoke to during this campaign - especially in the old steel towns of the Rust Belt - wanted a businessman in the White House rather than a career politician. Their hatred of Washington was palpable.
So, too, was their hatred of her. It was visceral. I vividly remember talking to a middle-aged woman in Tennessee, who oozed southern charm, who could not have been more polite. But when the subject of Hillary Clinton came up her whole demeanour changed.

When the country teeters on destruction and people realize their gigantic mistake? I'm naive, but what else do we have left?

so where do dem voters go from here? i assume the dnc is already looking at potential picks for next time and hopefully preparing for midterms... or are midterms a lost cause?

The DNC needs to be nuked and rebuilt from the ashes. No one can trust that corrupt pile of shit again.

This is mainly my concern too. If trump believed in climate change I still would feel a lot better about him winning, but we are already past the point of no return and he's just going to make it worse. Think of all the off shore drilling and fracking that's going to cause irreperable damage to this planet. It really sucks. Need a WEAPON or two right about now to clear up shop.

I think outrage culture and judgmental leftism are the biggest losers. Shit has to end right now or the public won't come back.

The side that gets outraged by the color of Starbuck's cups won tonight. Outrage culture is in full effect, one side just hasn't admit that they revel in it as much.

So, we've already blamed SJWs, not being nice enough to racists, calling out Trump's flaws and the DNC for electing a woman so far. Please internet and GAF, do continue to reconfirm my newfound beliefs in a shitty humanity.

Yeah.

George Carlin would be laughing his ass off.

Man, his reaction to this would have been nuts. Miss him and his comedy specials that was how I first learned about him.

And Robin Williams:
The beginning of his fukitol skit works right now lol.

This was done very recently, it's not from 2000. I wish people would stop sharing it.

huh? The Simpsons episode is from 2000, "Bart to the Future" aired on March 16th... its not "very recently" obviously the show is from 16 years ago, but its relevant today because they predicted a Donald Trump presidency.....

I've never been more embarrassed to be an American. This is truly sad. With the GOP in total control, we're about to go backwards like never before. They have the Presidency, Congress and now will appoint the new Supreme Court judges. Even as a straight white male, I don't feel comfortable living here anymore for the first time in my life.

My mother called me last night to gloat about his victory. She also doesn't believe in evolution and doesn't like/is afraid of Latinas and Arabs (the typical Trump crowd!). About sums it up.

you guys voted trump, you guya deal with it. Dont come to canada, we'd rather have real refugees !

I voted for hill and as many Democrats (phone sorry) as I could locally.

I'm afraid many of us may end up being that. These people that voted for trump have no idea what they have done.

The Republicans now have partial control over the entire world. Think about that for a minute. A radical group of extremists now completely control the usa, and partially control the world.

I think what people fail to understand is social issues do not in any way effect these people. They are poor and white. Their finances effect them and they couldn't give two fucks about anything else. They voted for trump because he was the only one speaking to them about their problems.

Exactly

Trump spoke to them in a way no one has.

It's the economy, stupid. Always has been, always will be.

Sadly, yes, he did. I've gone from rage and despair to stoic introspection at this point, but I won't lie about the boundless resentment that I'm still feeling.

Hubris from the Left and demonizing anyone thinking of voting for Trump was the reason we have Trump winning.

Hubris in the form is picking a supremely unlikable candidate with tons of baggage.

The screenshots are *not* from "Bart to the Future". That episode is about the presidency of Lisa, where they reference that Trump was previously president.

Man, still can't believe it. I slept early hoping things would turn around when I wake up but I guess not. Honestly, I think that deplorables comment really did her in. Republicans have always had an massive advantage when it comes to voting enthusiasm and she super-charged them with those comments. Can't believe I'm saying this but I guess Democrats need to do a better job connecting to whites and white males especially, they still run the country.

Who knew Wisconsin and Michigan would become battleground states? lol Kudos to the people doing the internal polling for the Trump campaign, seeing this at the last second and sending Trump to those states in the 11th hour. Brilliant move on their part.

Hillary also had a shit ton of bad news and press the last few weeks. Hillary played her last hand too early (the sexual assault allegations) and had nothing left to play to combat the late Trump surge.

Far from it; I am saddened and disgusted by the general tenor of this thread. What I want is for Americans to stop with the identity politics and start using their heads. I encourage people to set aside their biases and engage their intellectual curiosity--that's always a good thing.

But it's not my responsibility to convince or persuade anyone here. You are responsible for forming your own beliefs.

I wish you the best. You are in charge of your own happiness.

We tried that 8 years ago and we ended up with obstruction and roadblocks, and a party who put forth a misogynistic, hateful orange alt-right bully who now got elected POTUS who has both the house and senate on his side to enact all his shitty worldviews. The people supporting that party and this candidate will never listen to reason. Time to respond in kind.
The time of a left wing that lets themselves get bullied to submission and into compliance should be done with.
And in a way that we can still not sink as low as the right has.

Who else is hoping for one last pivot?

It shouldn't be your only concern. Social issues will be rolled back up to 70 years. Potential economic collapse is on the horizon if Trump tries to vastly increase tariffs on international goods in an attempt to "bring back jobs" that don't exist. A potential conflict in Europe over us pulling out of NATO.

Those images are not from Bart to the Future.

yeah, 4, or god forbid, 8 years of Trump at possibly the most pivotal points in climate politics ...
