I have lost all faith in America and can never look at it the same.

You just proved you care nothing about minorities.

It's not only about minorities. Even if you're the biggest racist in the world, I fail to comprehend how you can give the keys of the big house to a trash TV reality show producer, a simpleton, an incompetent.

Not only this guy is horrible, as a racist, a sexist, a dumb guy. But he is incompetent.

It's not only the minorities who will suffer from Trump's presidency. It's the whole country and also the middle white class.

There wasn't a single thing that caused Clinton to lose. Stop acting like if we changed one thing it would be different. There was a lot going on. Many people felt the government wasn't serving them properly. That could be LGBTQ rights, climate change, working class job loss, governmental gridlock. There are so many reasons that led to the loss. I do not believe Bernie would have done any better. I do not believe Biden would have. There is no proof of it. It's just an assumption based on feeling.

Republicans own complete control of government and have a new supreme Court seat. But hey, she had the popular vote right? That will surely add up to a lot when considering new legislation. Oh wait...

I was responding to the statement that nobody likes her, which the popular vote contradicts.

Absolutely no sane person. You'll have to deal with this politically. You'll have to get active and figure out ways to tackle this shit.

What I'm most scared about long term is Republicans in Congress and Trump making a peaceful transferal of power through the Democratic process impossible. You've already seen tons of red states institute voter ID laws directly targeting Democratic voters. They closed and minimized polling places in Democratic districts. Some states are so gerrymandered that the democrats can get a supermajority of votes in elections, and yet almost all of the representatives sent to congress are Republican.

If you don't think the Republicans on a national level are planning how to permanently cement control of government through manipulation of the democratic process, you're sorely mistaken. It's a big part of why Trump losing this election was so important.

During the primaries there were polling of head to head match up s between possible Democratic and Republican candidates. Hillary Clinton was consistently barely eeking out a win against Trump in national head to head match ups. Bernie Sanders would consistently win by anywhere between 7-15%. And yet Hillary Clinton supporters just kept dismissing reality saying "Oh those polls don't matter." Bernie Sanders is the most well liked Senator in America. Hillary Clinton is one of the most disliked candidates in modern history. If you don't think the outcome would have been different I really don't know what to tell you.

I still can't believe the statement: "Donald J. Trump elected 45th President of the United States".

Even after all I've typed tonight.... This is a weird reality.

Welp, was it Francis Bacon who said, "Truth is the daughter of TIME not authority"?

I'm honestly not surprised by the outcome because Trump's opponent was absolutely terrible for being under FBI investigation twice while running for president, having leaked documents in which she confirmed her obvious duplicity, and having presided, as Secretary of State, over the bloody Libyan "regime change" the aftermath of which Obama admitted was "the worst mistake" of his presidency. The writing was on the wall; but the Dems picked her when they had a candidate that was usually polling better against Trump so they probably wanted to lose /sarc.

My first couple bans ever were obtained during this election period and, while I am sure they were completed deserved, I thought it wise to preserve my account by staying away from the forum until everything was resolved the way I expected. I am not dancing on the rooftop for President Trump, since I have my own concerns about him, but I definitely feel that my viewpoint was vindicated by the result.

Anyway, it's not the end of the world; Trump is President not King. I believe the media (who fed Clinton debate questions in advance) and other branches of government will do a better job keeping him in check than they would have done for Clinton. It also remains to be seen exactly what kind of President he'll be. His victory speech called for unity. I hope he takes that seriously going forward.
He helped to foster a divide even larger than what already existed in this country. There will be no unity.

It blows my mind how a woman could ever vote for Trump.

He sexually assaults women! Continually!

If you are a women voting for him you are basically saying you are ok with sexual assault and being treated like an object?

A huge portion were just voting for a Republican. The uneducated rural classes believe that Democrats cannot win for religious reasons, and many of those are middle class white women. If Hillary won, God would lose.

True, but at least their favorability ratings would have been higher.

Trump as a president is a major catastrophe. It's like watching a trainwreck. You feel terrible but you can't look away.

Also, I just found out that Trump's vice president is a creationist. A creationist in a year 2016 is just mindblowingly stupid stuff.

Jesus fucking christ I feel physically ill.

Ya know, I get to work today, get some shit thrown my way by Trump supporters, fine, but I can't even levy the anger at them that I can the Dems right now. Running Hillary was just dumb. You run Biden and the Dems win. With the states Trump stole from her I think even Bernie might have had a closer run. But you run the most established candidate with a ton of baggage versus someone who doesn't follow the laws of politics.

This fucking party.

I'm actually surprised how little blame is being placed on the dems for going with her. What a horrible choice and this election just proves it.

That reminds me of that guy who went absolutely NUTS in very early 2008 on that CNBC channel predicting the recession.

Sometimes a lone outsider who has a particularly special understanding is going to be correct and the greater paradigm is wrong.

That doesn't mean they were guessing.

I'd like to see this, sounds very interesting. Do you have a link?

Places that Obama won easily in 2008 and 2012 flipped to Trump last night, yet we are painting all Trump voters as racists? We should be careful here. Minorities and Women obviously voted for Trump.

Yes, really nailed the moral high ground voting for a shameless billionaire with a fraudulent foundation.

It's okay, if Clinton won there wouldn't even be a 2018, Russia would have nuked us into a crater after Clinton declared war.

How does this make any sense? Why is Clinton the psycho agent of armageddon for a no fly zone, but Trump is no issue whilst demanding military spending go up to record levels and asking why he can't use nukes?

Completely surprised.

Voted for Hillary (live in Florida), the area I live around is mostly Trump supporters. I honestly didn't feel that great about Hillary either but I support more of the democratic party's platforms than republican.

I do hope this teaches people to be less arrogant about their candidates. I've read and heard way too many times that there's no way Trump can win and Hillary has it in the bag.

I am glad 1/2 failed/passed in Florida though.

The only thing I know for sure is we're in the dankest timeline. These four years will have the most advanced memes.

I'm just trying to think positive I guess

I really want to vomit. His damn VP hates guys. I fear for my life now. I heard they keep both the house and senate. :(

Welp, time to pack the bags.

YES! I finally have someone to vote for. I didn't want to support the political elite royal family trend by voting for a Bush or Clinton, and really didn't know what other option there was for me. Now I can vote for a bad ass fiscal conservative. I hope he does the "Your Fired!" thing to all of the government asshats that are running this country into the ground.

It would be really funny if Trump won the presidency based on everyone voting ironically.

Hmmm, not so funny.

Clever girl. Whilst politicians around her were openly criticizing Trump and hoping for Clinton, Merkel said absolutely nothing in that regard. She detests Trump but hasn't shown it one bit. Typical Merkel fashion. Stay flexible and don't show your cards early whenever you can.

It's total double speak. I mean it's very obvious she says she is willing to work with him as long as the values are upheld. Something that is questionable with Trump considering his campaign.

I hope you are aware that there are plenty of people among those who voted for her, who gritted their teeth together and voted against Donald Trump despite despising her. It's not like nobody likes her, but you can't really argue with the votes if she is standing against that pisshead.

It doesn't have to make sense, these people have long been disconnected from reality.

It wasn't her time because America was still dealing with its deep hatred.Likable or not she is/was the most qualified person to run

I find it crazy that we are blaming the left for not being kinder to racists and sexists. Rather than being open to discuss that this country is still filled with racism and sexism. Nah, we are just going to pretend otherwise. Darn if we can only hold hands while I get called a nigger.

You can make an argument that Hillary should have extended an olive branch to uneducated whites and sympathized with them but the entire left?

Maybe it's because I'm not from America, but that is honestly probably the oddest thing about it for me, as even if you're cool with all the heinous stuff Trump said, or just willing to look past it because you want to get yours, or make some sort of angry protest vote, you can't really get past the fact he's just way less qualified for the job.

Pretty much, it's not even that subtle as a stealth burn.

The thing is he basically has carte blanche to do whatever he wants. He has the House, Senate, and Courts.

Now minorities are just praying that all his talk was just lip service to rile up his racist base. But we have today to be down.

Our focus tomorrow now hasto be on political, social, and financial empowerment of minorities of all type

Women can't be racist? Also minorities can be racist against other minorities. I'm not saying we should push that stance but your rebuttal makes no logical sense.

I still can't believe it. Hillary was not going to stop the resentment that the common conservative have against liberals. She should have catered just a bit to the conservatives, find some common ground to work with both sides.

He also thinks electrocuting gay people will make them straight.

I mean statistically its usually the incumbent party that gets the boot after two terms, SOMETIMES one. The party in power gets complacent and the party tgat has been out of power gets motivated. This shouldn't be a huge surprise just in terms of following trends.
Lower Dem turnout coincides with this.

What has people shook is aside from a couple outliers no polls predicted this. I don't even think Republicans saw it coming. I'd say this will change how polls are conducted but it's just as likely things go back to normal now polling wise, so who the hell knows

The "qualifications" attack was weak. We already had 8 years of George Bush led by Dick Cheney.

White men with college degrees were more likely to vote for Trump than those without? How the hell does that happen.

Gut reaction on GAF and the media in general will always head to the fact that Trump supporters are disgusting and got to fly their true colors for once. Not gonna say that isn't true, but Hillary's minority support was well off Obama's, and she couldn't even carry the predominantly blue white populations that he did. How can I be mad at one side who ran one of the shittiest campaigns of all time when the side I voted for couldn't even get their shit together to beat him?

I see a lot of GAF blaming white men for this, but they're a close second to the problem that the Dem party was just dumb.

Aka you give up and become another drone

Leftism isn't even ideological it's material. It's the best option to support your family. People just get pushed the propaganda until they break.
This is a very simplistic view. There are good reasons to go towards more conservatism when you get older when it comes to economics. Depending on your own financial situation.
