DACA under Trump

What happens to immigrants who have already benefited from DACA? He can't retroactively take that away can he? I'm so sad this orange piece of shit won.

He can if he has control of the other branches...which he does.

Sorry GAFers that came here as kids, you're likely going home. I'm so, so, so sorry.

It'll probably get cut, if you have a work card now it might be valid until its expiration.

You really believe he's going to deport all 11 million immigrants? It's not going to happen.

I wish I had a home, I barely remember Mexico, there's nothing there for me. I love America, been here since I was 7, my sister has been here since she could even walk, America has been her whole life.

We're beyond terrified of what will come next.

I am a DACA recipient, and have lived in the US for 27 years.

As soon as I got approved, I immediately got a job, promoted twice, employee of the month, I pay taxes etc etc.

I've already started planning moving back, I believe trump will revoke DACA in January so I am already planning the packing process.

lol I can't believe I'm about to be forced to move away from my parents and family.

Fucking shook right now.

I feel like a third class human being. Just feel like complete shit, wish I wasn't born.

Since DACA was issued by Executive Order, he can kill it unilaterally.
From there, it really is an unknown how his administration decides to go about handling recipient status and deportations.

You guys are really terrifying me. I'm holding back tears right now.

This may sound crazy, but you might look into marrying one of your citizen friends.

If, god forbid, you get deported, you could have started the green card process already and then bide your time in your country of birth while that's all done.

Yes it's an absolute shit scenario, but it gives you an out at least.

I'm here legally. I just have a lot of friends that benefitted from DACA and Trump is terrifying. I'll marry one of them if I have to.

It especially sucks cause I grew up hearing about the American dream, I did everything legally I could to become a citizen. I have a college degree, fully educated in the United States, I fucking love NorCal,

And these past few years under DACA I've tasted the American dream! Living on my own, earning my keep, paying taxes and now I'm getting the boot.

At least we will go back with better knowledge, and I'm sure as hell gonna be more active politically in my new community.

Sorry for the rambling I'm pretty numb.

Hey and we still have Gaf right?

Jeez, man I am so sorry.

Is it possible that due to being a great employee you could get your business to "sponsor" you on a patch to citizenship?

My knowledge on the process is woefully inadequate, but I thought that a sponsorship was one of the holy grails for someone trying to move here and gain citizenship.

Yo. Probably getting deported, already running through contingency plans. RIP my house and two cars, as well as all the property we've accumulated throughout our 16 years here. Hopefully I can finish my degree by next semester before then.

Thanks guys.

The work visa, to my knowledge, has to be applied for from your country of origin.

The problem is, if I leave the US, I can be banned from re entering for 10 years.

But my work specifically doesn't do work visas.

Shirt of getting married I'm screwed.

I am a DACA recipient as well. I'm definitely going to be affected by this election. Trump said he's going to get rid of all the "unconstitutional" executive orders.
There's a lot of people here saying "your life wont be affected, it's just 4 years of the same." But that won't be the case for me. I am legitimately scared of the future. On day 1 I may end up without a job and the government will have all my info to come knocking at my door with a deportation notice.

I've been living here since the age of 5. Studying hard, obtaining good grades, graduated with my Bachelors thanks to the DREAM Act,have no criminal record, and have a decent job where I pay my taxes. But all my hard work and dreams seem to be disappearing right before my eyes.

I feel like this country truly doesn't want me here. I had never felt that more than now.

it's just crazy how much the GOP hates Obama that they are trying to erase everything he stood for

never mind the casualties

It's so sad, since my DACA was approved, I've always lived in fear of being deported, so I've always lived lightly, meaning stuff wise.

I thought I ever do have to go back, I won't have to pack as much.

Fucking lol

Man I work with a lady who has been here for 12 years, has kids in high school and college. She was dreading this election and I feel so bad. Wish there was something I could do for her and her kids.

president donald j trump; killer of DREAM

I'm very very sorry. I hope we are just overreacting.

Its not going to happen. 11 million people is 3% of the population. The protests for BLM that we've seen so far would be nothing compared to what would come from it. We're talking potentially major-cities-burning-down level protests. The republicans will just continue to dogwhistle and blame them for everything.

I don't believe that people will be deported, only the ones with criminal history, he already took that out of his 100 day plan.

But if DACA is gone, then these people won't be able to legally work. And considering how shitty our immigration paths are, most people will have to leave the country if they ever want to get actual residency.

Hillary was going to change that, but it's too late.

and people said Trump won't win, don't underestimate a full GOP America, they just might pick who gets deported or not

hopefully you are right, but Trump already said he will repeal every 'unconstititutional' executive order Obama has made in his election promise manifesto

So I just Google DCAC since I was unsure of what is was and...boy. The very first auto-complete result is DCDA Trump. =/

Wtf? Go home? America is their home.

My GF is in the same situation and it's been stressing her out so much. She feels hopeless and has been in tears since trump was elected. We discussed about marriage we just wish it was under different circumstances

Shirt of getting married I'm screwed.

Marriage doesn't save you. The marriage-derived green card requires you to leave and apply as well; there is a mechanism for parole of the re-entry ban, but it relies on discretion of the INS, which is to say in a post-Trump environment where DACA is dismantled, they will use their discretion to reject it.

Really sorry bud. Was just talking with a DACA girl starting her PhD and she's similarly screwed. :(

On a side note, racism already seems worse today. Had several people ask friends if they were here legally today. Trump winning emboldened them.

I'm also a DACA recipient....

I just can't believe this is happening...

I'm attending one of the best universities in the United States on a full scholarship, and if he removed DACA I could simply be deported...all my hard work will be erased

Not to mention my whole family who might be deported too....ugh why did this have to happen :(

I have a really great friend I met through our Masters program who is affected by this. He was the only one of our cohort who got into a PhD program, and he is very passionate about learning. Doesn't drink, doesn't smoke, pays taxes, was proud to have never relied on welfare, and was one of the smartest people I've met. And now he likely won't get to finish his degree because his funding is reliant on him having citizen status through DACA.

I feel lame saying this is heartbreaking since obviously this hits him a hell of a lot harder than it does me, but Jesus, this is so senseless.

It's enraging seeing people say "the left" are bigots for calling Trump supporters racist. We're telling many, many people who played the rules, who contribute to society, and who are proud to live here to take a hike because... I'll need a Trump supporter to let me know. It isn't because they're stealing our jobs, automation is doing that. It isn't because they're a strain on the welfare system, poor whites in the South receive more welfare. So why exactly are we doing this if not to put them in their place?

True, but at least that would give them a way back in.

how does it work now? Like if I was to get married they'd waive the whole leaving the country to apply right?

But you're saying it's at the govt discretion and a trump led USA would mean they wouldn't waive it??

A good portion of my family is under DACA... So I'm hoping nothing happens and he just leaves it alone.

If you have citizenship you're safe right? Like my parents came to this country and went through the whole process so they should be fine right? I wish I paid more attention to the issues, I did not think Trump would win.

I'm so scared right now, more depressed than I have ever been. I wish I was ignorant so I wouldn't have to deal with the worry & anxiety.

Some tried to cheer me up at school, I'm trying really hard to smile and laugh with them but I feel numb inside, trying to hold back the tears at the thought of not seeing my friends again.

I don't even know how Mexico is like, hell I barely know how to speak Spanish. I was 4 when I arrived here, I'm 24 now in college and a job. I am so scared for my life right now. I wish I could just disappear.

I believe that the waiver only applies if you can show it'd be extreme duress for your family, not emotional duress but stuff like medical or financial, and then it'd be up to them to decide if it's enough of an excuse.

I also feel like that. Like I wish the earth would just open up and swallow me whole.

But then they would rejoice. They'd be happy not to see my brown face again. So fuck them, let's not disappear, make them acknowledge us.

if you have citizenship, yes

can't believe people didn't know about this, he posted his promise manifesto on his website

DACA recipient here,

Only solution i can give to another DACA recipient is to marry a US citizen and have him/her sponsor you for Green Card..

Im currently waiting for my interview for an adjustment status. MY biggest fear right now is when they terminate DACA, my work permit would be terminated too. I work so freaking hard to get to where i am right now..having my dream career. The thought of losing it all is beyond me.. literally in tears at work right now just thinking about it. fuck trump

Why would I give him the honor of visiting his website? I was voting democratic regardless.

But that's good at least. Still afraid for the family members under DACA though.
