She visited Michigan, North Carolina, Florida, Ohio, and Pennsylvania. Didn't matter.
See I'm not sure she really got out there enough. It was the same thing with Bill in that Clinton's seem to do the minimum amount possible to get by. Which is of course problematic when your opponent is mobilizing voters in key areas better.

"Trump crushed two political dynasties: the Bushes, and the Clintons."

Never thought about it like that. This was definitely an anti-establishment vote.

I said a few times that the DNC is as broken as the RNC is this year and was laughed away.

Anti-Establishment definitely was the vote of the people. They tried with the tea party it wasn't going well they went nuclear.

The problem is that it wasn't a discussion between a candidate who says "I think we should stimulate economy through tax breaks" and one who says "I think we should stimulate it through increasing the minimum wage".

It was between a candidate who said "I think we should collaborate internationally over climate change" and one who said "Climate change is a conspiracy made up by the Chinese".

You can only reach across the aisle so much. If we compromised anymore we'd essentially be giving them everything they want.

Says who?

Polls...

What polls?

Polls...most of them...all of them

Yeah thanks for all the polls that assured a HC victory

Also this is mostly DNC's fault for ignoring what most dems/independents wanted (Bernie) and pushing forward with HC. I am sure it would have been not this brutal if Bernie was in it.

Let this sink in...

A person with no political background outside of some bribes and has more democratic ideas won the Republican nomination against established people in government. Said person destroyed those candidates and then went to the general election as a clown. Said clown toppled another well respected smart politician and he won the presidency by electoral votes something no one thought was even possible. Then Clinton barely won the popular vote by a margin so insignificant it really isn't worth bringing up.

Protest votes are a real thing. Hating the establishment is a real thing. People disgruntled with dynasty politics is a real thing.

This is the fault of everyone who didn't vote or voted third party. No one else.

What if Trump suprises everyone and becomes a decent leader?

Treasury secretary

Trump himself has indicated that he wants to give the Treasury secretary job to his finance chairman, Mnuchin, a 17-year-veteran of Goldman Sachs who now works as the chairman and chief executive of the private investment firm Dune Capital Management. Mnuchin has also worked for OneWest Bank, which was later sold to CIT Group in 2015.

Meanwhile, a person who spoke to the Trump campaign told POLITICO that the aides have also discussed tapping Sarah Palin for Interior secretary. Trump has said he’d like to put Palin in his cabinet, and Palin has made no secret of her interest.

He lost by millions of votes. Most dems/independents wanted Hillary. They went with Hillary.

the kind of extremely patronizing and antagonizing comments i've seen in this thread are exactly why trump won. you do not peacefully convince people that you are right by aggressively making fun of them and telling them that they are wrong, even if it's true. that makes them even more entrenched in their own beliefs, and breeds resentment as well. it's really sad that the left has failed to realize this, and it has led to this massive divide in the country. i say that as someone who leans left-of-center when it comes to politics.

I agree, I wish the media did a better job of explaining Trump's faults instead of screaming the same old "YOU'RE RACIST REEEE" argument over and over again.

It cultivates resentment and makes people actively want to vote against her.

How much bad can Trump really do? Ignorant question... but wouldn't the Senate/House have the actual power?

The wall and killing trade deals is not going to happen.

Obamacare is dead. Rich will have all time low taxes.

Rural America still fucked.

46.9% of the country didn't vote and a bit over 2% voted third party. She's also won the popular vote.

By like 0.2%. Against Trump. Let that set in, along with his Presidency...

I really wish he was around to revel in the insanity of today. He would have absolutely tore Trump several new ones.

And then the hard left would have torn him a new one for being intolerant and offensive... As much as I love Carlin and wish he was alive today, he wouldn't stand a chance.

Serious question as a european.

Read almost this entire thread trying to make me understand what the hell happened in your country.

But something doesn't seem right, all the posts have about the same question or are complaining.

Where are the 50.000.000!!! percentage that vote Trump saying something in this thread?

Iis there truly a part of society that we don't see or understand? (Like i think is happening all across Europe)

They did, people didn't care. If all someone heard was racism, its because they are the types to think being called a racist is worse than being one.

They are here, its the ones poking fun and saying I told you so. They don't have anything else to talk about, because their candidate didn't have a real platform. Unless you count hate and fear.

Trump's entire run, even before he ran for President was based on antagonizing, patronizing and appealing to resentiments.

Does the Birther movement ring a bell?

They all got banned this year.

The kick in the balls is if he is decent its further validation in the eyes of Republicans in the sense that if he's "decent" then Democrats in the House/Senate, being "the adults in the room" will play ball and he gets credit for being able to work Cross the Aisle where President Obama could not.
