DACA under Trump

DACA recipient here. I came to the conclusion that I have lost everything in this past 12 hours thanks to all this bullshit. I'm a college graduate computer engineer with his future in shambles. Fuck the world and fuck Trump and fuck everyone of you motherfuckers who voted for this piece of yellow shit.

The moment the DACA gets revoked I hope that some shit goes down really bad. I'm talking about Warsaw Ghetto Uprising bad. If I get killed I don't fucking care anymore.

There are an assload of people who didn't vote Trump. Therefore there's an assload of people who could potentially demonstrate against stupid shit.

If he says he's gonna start deporting people, it's time to get together and show him that shit won't fly. Trump supporters did one thing right, they made noise. Now you're the underdogs, make some fucking noise.

The deportings aren't the problem. It's the loss of the ability to work

I am a DACA recipient too. I am currently working on a non-profit that works with the LGBTQIA+ community doing medical case management for HIV+ individuals. We also have a food bank and a workforce development program that I've been helping facilitate.

I was offered a full time position for next year. Additionally, I'm working on a demonstration project for the Department of Health and I am also a Community Health Worker for a Health Clinic in my area. I did IT work for a large company in my city, and I've been volunteering in community health clinics since High School. I am trying to save up for my bachelors in Cybersecurity with a minor for Public Health. I pay taxes and I get no benefits. My dreams were to work in cybersecurity/get clearance and public health in the government/private sector and start my own business...

I had so much dreams and now I won't be able to do anything because according to Trump I am a threat to national security and a criminal :(

Telling my current employers that I might not be here next year and to hold on to the position they were gonna give me, was the hardest thing I've ever done. I'm in tears right now.

I am so sad... so sad and depressed I don't know what to do.

I feel so bad for all of us as well. :(

As a social worker, I have a lot of youth clients who are beneficiaries of DACA. I'm legitimately sick to my stomach thinking about it. I can't wrap my head around people lacking basic empathy to the extent needed to put someone into office who threatens the civil liberties of so many groups within this country. You can call it whatever you want, but its straight up immoral in my eyes.

Where do you think the safest place to move is for someone under DACA now? California? Would they be able to prevent Trump's bullshit?

Its painful that a majority of the people who voted did not vote for the person who was elected president. I feel for anyone who has to deal with this uncertainty. I know things may feel hopeless but their are still a lot of good people who will fight for anyone who is effected by this do not forget more people voted against the next president then for.

My heart breaks reading all these stories, this was my number one fear, I just hope the orange menace is not a fuckin' asshole about this, he's employed undocumented workers and married a woman who worked illegally in the country, he'd be a massive hypocrite to go through with this, I want to give each and every single one of you a hug, I love you all, we'll get through this.

I am a DACA recipient, and have lived in the US for 27 years.

As soon as I got approved, I immediately got a job, promoted twice, employee of the month, I pay taxes etc etc.

I've already started planning moving back, I believe trump will revoke DACA in January so I am already planning the packing process.

lol I can't believe I'm about to be forced to move away from my parents and family.

Fucking shook right now.

I feel like a third class human being. Just feel like complete shit, wish I wasn't born.
Any Trump supporting gloaters here on neogaf want to address this?

Why would I give him the honor of visiting his website? I was voting democratic regardless.

But that's good at least. Still afraid for the family members under DACA though.

I meant people who voted for Trump who didn't know about this

but then I guess this is what they really want :(

On a side note, racism already seems worse today. Had several people ask friends if they were here legally today. Trump winning emboldened them.

Wow, that was quick.

I'm guessing there's gonna be a hotline and people are gonna get anonymously "told on".

I agree.

Americans often talked about how this country or that country has horrible human rights records, and then the US elects a person who has repeatedly touted the same human rights violations as something the US should do?

It is immoral. It's not just the laws and repeals that will screw people over, but the popularization of hating, harming, and neglecting people of other races is something that will hurt those people in day to day life. And this behavior is now entirely validated, because the country elected this guy.

I'm going to guess none of those friends were white because as a white immigrant to America I've never had anyone treat me that way.

A lot of pent up racism is going to be unleashed in the coming years now there's a fascist in the White House.

how does it work now? Like if I was to get married they'd waive the whole leaving the country to apply right?

But you're saying it's at the govt discretion and a trump led USA would mean they wouldn't waive it??

If you get married you become eligible for a green card. But to get it you have to do an interview in another country, like any other immigration process. Then you run into the re-entry ban, because you were in the country "illegally" to begin with so once you leave you can't come back. The government knows this makes no sense, so they have a separate process where you get the re-entry ban waived. This is called advance parole. So you apply for advance parole in the US, get it, then leave the US, then do the green card interview. But if DACA is gone, and INS suddenly is no longer interested in helping DACA people, then they'll just deny the advance parole request and you'll be forced either to not get the green card or be subject to the re-entry ban if you go to get the green card.

Its not going to happen. 11 million people is 3% of the population. The protests for BLM that we've seen so far would be nothing compared to what would come from it. We're talking potentially major-cities-burning-down level protests. The republicans will just continue to dogwhistle and blame them for everything.

All at once? No you're right. It won't nor could it happen. I foresee a much more slow methodical process. He probably won't be able to actually get to that 11 million number but a lot of families are going to ripped apart as he tries.

Thanks for the explanation. Yea that all rings a bell. That's such govt douchbaggery isn't it?

And Another path crumbles

FULL FREEFALL ACTIVATED

Scary af. SCARY as all fuck if he has the power to do this

It's not an "if he has the power." I believe DACA was done under executive order by Obama. Trump could revoke or reverse that decision similarly under executive order and voila. Done. No Congress needed.

Obama knew he didn't have a snowball's chance of getting it past an obstructionist congress, so now Trump can dismantle it with a slash of his pen.

So...then what now...? :'(
What about trying to apply for advance parole now before he gets in office?
Or getting married now thus going through the process before he's in office?
Could that possibly work?

Nothing I think. See how it's rigged against us? Lol and my only crime is being brought here as a child by my parents. Fml

I don't think you have to leave the country to do the interview. I got married over the summer and we are applying for an adjustment of status. My lawyer has already submitted all the info, and we are currently waiting for our schedule interview.

My sister friend did something like this and she just got her green card. She didn;t have to leave the US for the interview. The interview process was fairly quick, you showed up, bring a photo album and the agent in charge will ask you a few question and off you go.

I really hope with Trump terminating DACA, he will not change any of that.

God if i have to leave the U.S.. i dont know.. all my family members are here in the US and they have become a US citizen. I'm the only member in my family who is not a citizen yet.

Same here, but I won't for one second blame them for that. Everything they did was for my well-being, so that I could have a better life and a brighter future than they ever had. I thank them for that even if at the moment everything feels like it's crumbling all around me.

Of course not. It's all about getting rid of people with brown skin.

They'll purge them slowly enough that there'll be no 'big bang' moment where everyone is compelled to fight.

Don't take this as a "I'm going to kill myself" post but waking up this morning, I really felt like I lost the will to live, I've never felt this scared about the future. Last night someone was firing off fireworks while I ponder a future where I will have to uproot myself to a country that I don't know anything about.

This is terrifying...I don't understand why someone living for so long in a country can't have citizenship.

Where are your parents now?
This makes no sense to me..

So my parents also live in NorCal. They have a different work visa that allows them to continue to work. Me my brother and sister aren't under the same visa as them. We are under DACA.

Basically through a bunch of bs we weren't able to apply for the same visa as them. We could have tried but that involves leaving the country and applying but that runs the risk of being banned for 10 years.

So of DACA is taken away all here of us couldn't work. I kinda don't see being physically deported, so it would be either under the table work or go back.

I'm gonna actually go over to my parents and talk to them tomorrow and figure this out. My dad wants to hire a lawyer and see what our options are I guess.

I know my parents will stay here. They run a pretty successful business and own property and stuff. My brother and sister would just move back in with them and ride it I guess. I'm definetly not moving back in with them lol.

Very true. And very good point. They were and still are looking out for me.
Good luck bro. I hope it all works out for us all.

Bro I woke up and payed awake in bed for like 2 hours. I felt like I weighed a ton. I guess I still haven't come to terms at what's gonna happen.

Works gonna be horrible. People are gonna rib me cause everyone knows how much I hate trump.

There gonna make jokes about me leaving the country not knowing that it's actually gonna become reality.

Goddamn I'm tearing up reading this thread. Thank god my parents became citizens as soon and possible and made me one as a kid.

I think it's pretty safe to assume that we won't granting any new work permits under DACA, but I don't think it's a foregone conclusion that people who are currently under DACA won't be grandfathered in or at least not hunted down for deportation.
It will probably require some fighting from liberals, but I don't think that's a non-winnable battle and it would certainly be a good issue to organize against.

Hey I know it doesn't feel like it but you are just as American and valued in our society! Your success at work and love from your family proves you are valued!

What a crazy situation, I'm so sorry for you and your family. I hope you find a way to stay here and work legally. It just seems completely absurd to me that your parents came to this country with a child and yet that child isn't granted the same rights as them.

Thank you. I really appreciate your kind words.

Thanks. Yup, legal immigration is a crazy thing. Forgot to mention my grandpa is a legal citizen. He claimed asylum from India.

In his website the "Donald Trump’s Contract with the American Voter" says that he will deport more than 2 million people.

Five actions to restore security and the constitutional rule of law:

★ FIRST, cancel every unconstitutional executive action, memorandum and order issued by President Obama.
★ SECOND, begin the process of selecting a replacement for Justice Scalia from one of the 20 judges on my list, who will uphold and defend the U.S. Constitution.
★ THIRD, cancel all federal funding to sanctuary cities.
★ FOURTH, begin removing the more than two million criminal illegal immigrants from the country and cancel visas to foreign countries that won’t take them back.
★ FIFTH, suspend immigration from terror-prone regions where vetting cannot safely occur. All vetting of people coming into our country will be considered “extreme vetting.”

Straight down scary stuff. :/ Can only hope that everyone lands on their feet.

They shouldn't be able to repeal certain things years down the road imho.

It especially sucks cause I grew up hearing about the American dream, I did everything legally I could to become a citizen. I have a college degree, fully educated in the United States, I fucking love NorCal,

And these past few years under DACA I've tasted the American dream! Living on my own, earning my keep, paying taxes and now I'm getting the boot.

At least we will go back with better knowledge, and I'm sure as hell gonna be more active politically in my new community.

Sorry for the rambling I'm pretty numb.

Hey and we still have Gaf right?

Sorry to hear that. There isn't enough detail in your post but if you have not already done so please reach out to an immigration attorney to start the process/path to citizenship. There might still be a way around it.

Key word "criminal". So those who have committed any crimes. As far as what degree of crimes committed, I have no idea.
Considering that getting caught with pot gets you deported* even if you're here with a legal status, I think the bar is going to be pretty fucking low.

* okay, it's not like the immigration police will come knocking at your door, but you're not getting to the next stage if you have any drug related thing on your record.
