Protests against Trump in NYC and other cities

People should have been doing this shit BEFORE it happened. Now its too late.

EDIT: What I intended to say was that the most important time to do this was before he actually won. I didn't mean to state or imply that people shouldn't do it at all at this point.

That needs to be against some sort of law.
Depicting the murder of a President Elect is some grade A bullshit and needs to be stomped on fast.

Now is not the time to protest. Trump won.

When he tries to do something damaging to the country that will be the time to protest. Pick your battles.

He already has fucking damaged the country. Are you white? How do you not understand what this is about?

Turn out would have be insane with Bernie.

Would have been a land slide.
You couldn't tell this to HillGAF in the Primary. Dismissive responses, mental gymnastics, and avoiding the facts. The DNC and her supporters went all in for Hillary and lost it all last night. Lessons learned today, hopefully.

There is nothing to protest quite honestly. The one genuine way to stop trump has passed yesterday. Those 46% of eligible voters are to blame. The republicans actually didn't get any new voters. It's the democrats who lost more than 6 million voters.

Yeah I'm kinda scratching my head. These protests feel more like an emotional outburst than anything.

Lord knows in a few weeks everyone will have moved on and back to watching The Bachelor or whatever.

Let's see if people are still protesting in the days leading up to the midterms in 2018...or will the Democrats sit at home yet again.

Trump was elected to an office where the job description includes "Most hated man in America"
Let's see how Trumps ego handles it.

Absolutely. HillaryGAF was unbearable to the point I stopped talking about. The primary debate threads were ridiculous.

No I am not. In their own states their votes are equal. And each state gets votes based on the population. What everyone here wants is for lower population areas to get less say in politics which will just further fuel the inequality that already exists in the country. Again why should a high population state get so much more control over the government. If we wanted to fix things more liberal voters in a CA should move east. It would spread some of the wealth around as well.

I think if liberal voters in CA moved east they would become more conservative.

A lot of my family is in danger of losing their jobs and homes if Trump has his way. Sorry, but I and many others refuse to accept that.

I understand the need to protest but everyone in your family realizes it's a waste of time right? Just because you protest him the changeover in January is still going to occur. Seems like people would be better off protesting by volunteering for minority charities and trying to mitigate the damage they are going to do.

I think if liberal voters in CA moved east they would become more conservative.

So you think the location itself has some effect on voting tendencies?

If the Democratic elect had threatened to do JUST ONE of the following, I would condone demonstrations either way:

1. Kill the families of terrorists
2. Make sure the US Military will carry out war crimes
3. Jail their political opponent after a win
4. Implement Stop and Frisk nation wide
5. Ban an entire religion from entering the US
6. Create a registry of all members of one religion in the US
7. Repress freedom of speech, so the media could not talk too negatively about the elect
8. etc.

All of these things are unconstitutional and go against the very fabric of this nation. These are unacceptable positions, regardless of political affiliation.

Whoever threatens just one of these needs to protested and chased out of the country.
Great reply. Maybe I'm just focused more on the weak turn out compared to 4 years ago against someone this vile. It should have been the biggest turnout in our countries history. So these protests just make me more frustrated by last nights outcome.

Some here need to get fucking bent.

Many core values of the majority of American citizens are now disproportionately underrepresented. These protests are not about fighting the results to overturning the election.

The demonstrations are essentially a massive group therapy session. People want to process this shit together in a big way. People need to grieve.

What exactly is the fuck wrong with that?

Minorities are already feeling the profound effects of the result. It is doubtful they will "forget" about it in a few weeks.

By that logic peaceful protest is never fruitful. History has shown us differently.

Seriously though what can I do to make sure everyone is still this pissed off in 2 years?

Portland has so many homeless and mentally ill on the streets, if everyone there was so caring, they would do something about it.

He's already had his day one speech ffs! And on Day one he is already doing damaging things to this country that we all KNEW we he would do when he was the nominee.

Why does GAF need to be so damned apologetic. Why does it have to try to be so damn smart and smug towards everything.

Nothing at all. The alt-right is just invading GAF.

It skews the result, two cities can influence a country the size of a continent.

I can understand its upsetting for those who didn't get the result but I don't remember such distain for the EC before the result, "its part of US voting" for anyone who asked, "it's how we do things" in almost smug fashion but it's gone tits up now.

If the EC is such a problem then grave importance of democratic right should've seen it abolished before the election but then people want a safe guard and valued the fairness of the landmass.

Rules of the game were known. You can't come and say we would've won if we had 4 points for a field goal and change it after the fact. the game is played knowing those rules. Campaigns and voting is done with those rules in place. Take them away you might have different campaigns, maybe even more republicans come out. Increase more points for field goal and the players would play a different game.

Well you better get a better memory. People have been complaining about the EC forever.

Nobody is saying the rules have been broken, they are saying the rules are bad. You do know you're supposed to actually speak up when you thinks things are bad right? It skews shit. All it does is ensure the "reliably democratic" and "reliably republican" states don't get any attention at all.

I wonder how many of the protesters could have voted but choose not to in states like Michigan, Wisconsin, Florida etc. I guess they were too busy doing that manaquine challenge.
