Sure, but they never had to worry about the personal safety of themselves and those around them.

To be fair, many believed that he was going to take away their guns and hand us over to the terrorists, tax us out of existence, abort all the white babies, and destroy our christian churches.
I'm beginning to understand why my father used to get so visibly upset when he'd talk about politics with me. This election has pissed me off to my core. I only try to imagine how many minorities are feeling.

This I believe 100%. A large part of his vocal fanbase are in for a huge fucking surprise. They aren't getting shit. They get to be openly racist, sexist and homophobic for a while maybe. Maybe that's all that mattered for a bunch of them. Financially? They're getting nothing. Likely losing a lot. And they deserve it.

It just really sucks for all the others in their situation who didn't vote him for him. The ones who did though? Yeah, I'm not shedding any tears if they lose it all. They'll find a way to blame someone else regardless. These people will NEVER admit being wrong about anything. It will always be the system. Even if it's the one they pushed for. That's a lost cause.
He'll do a couple of token bills, remove some shit, gut some federal agency budgets, and set back progress in various ways. Much like Obama's semi-decent history, his base'll eat it up and lionize him regardless of his abandoning policy planks.

I think I am now beginning to understand how conservatives feel when Obama got elected and then re-elected. They felt like America just voted in the devil basically!

Please.

Obama ran on optimism and hope and conducted himself with dignity the entire campaign. There was no hatred, there was no bumbling and lying and blaming and complaining and bullying and name calling and racism and sexism and bigotry and pussy grabbing... These things I just described aren't partisan things (I don't think?) so please don't equate Obama to this orange piece of human waste. People who are afraid of and disturbed by this election can't reasonably be compared to the election of Obama, because there was absolutely no rational basis for being afraid in that scenario beyond him being black or a muslim or something.

oh God the reverse of the last eight years

god fucking help us

instead of dismissing it. Think about it. he tried to tank his campaign with batshit crazy comments. and the look on his face when he actually won. And when he sat with obama today. it all makes total sense.

does that look like the look of a man ready to lead the country? I dont think so.

You sound just like Brexit deniers who came up with Boris Johnson "didn't want to actually win" theories after the fact.

It happened. He won. He will be President. The sooner people accept it the better. Go out and protest if you want, that's you're right, that's good. But don't put your hopes into pictures of a tired person.

This subtle but not too subtle shade in comparison to Trump

almost poetic

You are right. He'll probably run again in 4 years and win again. These are dark times. People need to stop fooling themselves.

The only way I could see Trump bowing out is if he's unable to pry himself away from his business. It would be hilarious if he was such a greedy fuck that the blind trust situation, not living in Trump Tower and having to trade out his private jet for Air Force One were all too great a loss for him to justify taking office.

At this point, everyone needs to pray (if you're religious otherwise hope) he'll do amazingly well as president. We're Americans. We don't need to see our president fail horribly. He's got Obama nearby for advice, a team of people he can select to run, people helping him, he's got the resources he just has to do the best he can now that he's there. We gotta live with it. I'd rather be wrong about not voting for him than have our country horribly damaged.

I was upset about it too but after a few days I went into "ok, do the best you can fuck it you're going to be president" mode. If people don't change then it's completely understandable. I'm a different individual.

Don't get me wrong, I like Obama more than many, but I don't want to ignore his abandoning of what got him my vote.

Trump's potential nominees are ringing awfully familar to the Geithner nominee.

Though, hindsight being 20/20, I should have known better (by expecting less) in 2007. It's more or less just seeing the Dems shoot themselves over and over again that's disheartening.

Trump is a massive narcissist. He won't back down, ever. He wanted to be president because it makes him the most powerful man in the world.
He won't give that up just to be a dodgy businessman living in a gold tower, even if his Learjet has a comfier couch than Airforce1.

Donald J. Trump elected 45th President of the United States ( 1 2 3 4 5 ... Last )

American Horror Story: ? |OT| We know nothing about this season ( 1 2 3 4 5 ... Last )

......

Gaf telling it like it is. :P

Idk those really look like the eyes of regret, it's just a photo? No. Theres video, too.

No. This is the complete opposite of what you should do. Forget about praying or hoping everything will be allright in the end. There is no indication whatsoever that Trump will change his character now that he's President. You're basing your hopes on absolutely nothing.

What needs to happen right now is trying to understand what exactly happened and why it happened. Conclusions must be reached and a new approach to politics must be found and established. Half of the nation is done with the status quo. We need to know why and how to better the status quo for everyone. The next battle is just two years away.

The next four years will be very tough on everybody im afraid, and especially on US citizens.

Idk those really look like the eyes of regret, it's just a photo? No. Theres video, too.

Don't do this to yourself.

Can you imagine Trump addressing the nation after the next mass shooting? The next hurricane? The next terrorist attack? Even Bush had the capacity to reflect and show compassion in the event of a national tragedy. I don't think I've ever seen Trump seriously reflect on anything.

What's gonna happen to the wall? You'd think deep down he would realise that it's not gonna happen, but I don't think he is that smart. Will he slowly bullshit everyone out of that promise during his presidency?

i'd bet money that most of the people who voted for Trump didn't actually expect the wall to be built

Then go find another country to live in. I may not have voted for Trump but I love my country and want it to be successful. If Trump ends up a good President and the country becomes successful then I will be extremely thankful for it. I will NEVER wish for it to fail. I have to live here and work here and so do my family and friends. So do your family and friends. I hope Trump has a fantastic term so all Americans can benefit.

I live in another country. Trump and his cabinet of deplorables will fuck over everybody when they pull out of the climate change protocols.

I want his policies to become massively unpopular so the Dems get back some control in the midterms and to ensure that he is a one time president. Climate change it far too important. Unfortunately if your country has to go through really tough time for that to happen so be it.

Clinton fucked you over big time with her incompetence.

The elections were fun because no one realistically expected Trump to win because he kept sending out dumb messages and tweets every single day. That is where my humor of Trump being president came from.

Now that he is actually going to be POTUS and I am here safely on the other side of the ocean, I am seriously feeling worried for the poor and middle class people that already have a hard enough time to keep their heads above water.

All these tax reductions and improving the infrastructure. That money has to come from somewhere. I hope all his shows were for show and his action will stay mild. One can dream, right.

This. Some of us that live in different countries actually want our kids and grand-kids to have a hospitable planet left to live on in the future. Unfortunately due to the 1/4 of stupid Americans who were dumb enough to vote for him, Trump and his team of science denying super villains threatens to irreversibly fuck this up for everyone, not just the Americans, and it's just so fucking sad.

As a Brit with no knowledge of the inner workings of the US government, are there any laws that were passed under Obama that Trump or the Republicans *cannot* undo? Or is everything fair game if it goes through the standard processes?

Are there any safeguards in place that could block even an attempt to undo laws if said attempt is made?

While the climate change thing bothers me as an outsider, everything else bothers me too just as a normal fucking human being concerned about the well-being of the American people.

Honestly why would you even share the first bit right now

Yup. Trump. Someone with no experience running a country. There will be an immense burden he will have to bear, and from the look of things he is not looking forward to it at all. He looks scared, not confident. He wanted to stroke his ego. Get close but not actually win, it would have made him ridiculously famous. It would go down in the history books. But he bit off more than he could chew and now is paying the price.

This is a really ridiculous narrative, man. Nobody ever would try to tank their own campaign at this scale : 1. You have drummed up hundreds of thousands (or millions) of dollars from investors who you CANNOT let down, and 2 we're talking about Donald Trump, a man who will not accept failure. He's been trying for 20 years. I'd fully believe that he did this just to increase his own stocks - and it fucking worked.

I hope Trump will be fighting with the Republican congress so much that not a lot of our fears become realized.
US agriculture need trade bills to sell corn and wheat. So farming state Republicans will be opposed to gutting trade bills.
It looks like Paul Ryan will stay as house leader. He and Trump dislike each other. That will lead to some friction between the two.
There are enough Democrats in the Senate to prevent some of the bad bills to be passed.
I really doubt "The Wall" will materialize. I can see the Republicans settling for increased border patrols and reinforcing current fencing.
As far as the middle east is concerned, Trump will probably continue support for Saudi Arabia to keep Iran from becoming stronger. So really 4 more years of the current situation, unfortunately. ISIS is currently losing and hopefully will not be a big factor in 2-3 years. I think Afghanistan will be on its own and be run by the Taliban in 4 years.
Domestically, I think abortions will decrease as they become less available. Christianity will see a revival of power. The glass ceiling for women and minorities will become stronger.
Education will become more privatized. Coal production will increase but I believe the Republicans will realize that wind turbines and solar power are actually better and in place so that the use of coal will be limited.

if he doesn't build the wall hes going to turn his attention to another issue.. my bet would be undoing everything about gay marriage and abortion.

Republicans control both houses so they have a lot of leverage, but it's not a supermajority so they won't be able to just do whatever they want. They're gonna go after a lot of laws, and try to push their own, but the Dems in Congress will fight back.

I think all the ones Obama pushed through without backing from the other parts of government can be quashed instantly but anything else not so easily.

I spoke with a co-worker last night who told me her sister voted for Trump because he'll probably get assassinated anyway and Pence can take over and we'll all be okay. I just stared in disbelief. Stupid people are truly dangerous, and they helped put this fuckface in office.

I really want that "Make America Great Again" Presidential Cap but unfortunately Trump's shop only ships within the US.

Unfortunately, here in Europe only cheap imitations from China are available, so if a nice GAF member from the US could get me one, it would be highly appreciated.
I'd sent you the money for the cap and shipping with PayPal, just contact me. :)

lol, you can wear what you want but I'm not sure asking GAF to supply you with a Trump hat is going to end as you expect.

Also Ebay I'd guess would be your best bet.

If you actually live in Germany, there's a black poetry to this

Why the hell would you want this in Europe

As a historical piece of evidence, maybe? :) I wouldn't throw it away if I found one.

Edit: Doesn't mean I would wear it. I know people who found old Nazi flags in the attic. Doesn't mean they are Nazis for keeping them ;D (A bit of a drastic comparison but you get the point).

Well, it would make a good Christmas gift for my Uncle. But I would buy a child sized one so he could never wear it.

Y'all are falling for trolls. People are coming out from the woodwork since the election is over and baiting clearly left leaning Gaf and then everyone acts surprised that their are actual Trump supporters in here.

I'n not a troll, I really want this cap. As I said, it is impossible to get this thing here in Germany, so I thought asking in an international forum might be a clever way to highten my chances.
