Pokémon Sun & Moon |OT| Ultra Beasts and where to find them

So I've been in the leak thread this past week reading impressions, I thought if people are interested here's a summary of the pros and cons of Sun and Moon. I haven't played them myself, but here's some key points that may effect your purchase...

No specific spoilers but still tagging them in case you want to go in fresh...impressions on scope of plot, difficulty, Pokemon, music, graphics, and post-game

Plot: I've heard it has the "best plot" of a Pokemon game perhaps, with some exciting moments and such, yet at the same time this also means more linearity and pushing the player along with cutscenes. The main game is better than XY at the very least. Decent amount of classic cameos, but nothing B2W2-level.

Difficulty: I've heard the game isn't super challenging, the opponents still use less Pokemon than before, yet with the level scale system back from BW it's harder to overlevel compared to XY. At the same time the Totem Battles can be tricky with some interesting combos, the opponents now actively target weaknesses and switch, and many of the New Pokemon are on the slower side so using them means the opponent will get in an attack at least instead of you just sweeping through them.

Pokemon: Not as varied as XY, but a decent amount of classics---the New Pokemon seem to have a "Johto syndrome" where they're a bit pushed to the side in many cases with low encounter rates and such. Also they're all pretty slow, including ones who you think would be fast. Some classic Pokemon got buffs (one got a nerf), including stat upgrades and new Abilities. There's not many non-Alola Dex Pokemon available in the post-game right now, so you'll need to rely on PokeBank if you're going for 100% National Dex. There's no in-game National Dex, presumably being saved for Bank.

Music: Varied and really nice, weakness music is possibly the default battle themes but everything else is good---"best OST since Black and White".

Graphics: Frame rate still takes a dip pretty regularly, and the addition of Trainers lead presumably to the removal of Triple and Rotation as well as Hordes. Otherwise the region looks nice.

Post-game: Neat new system that makes competitive training pretty interesting and fast, though requires some set-up. Multiple Legendary Pokemon to catch and a Battle Facility that's fairly challenging. About XY-level from what I've heard. Downside is very few non-Alola Dex Pokemon to catch and not a lot of new areas that open up. Do get to rematch various major Trainers though such as Trial Captains, and use more than just 2 Pokemon like the Battle Chateau rematches in XY.

=/ None of this sounds very appealing to me.

I posted about Nuzlockes before and I mentioned Projared would be streaming one tomorrow at 4PM EST well Team Four Star is also doing one starting tomorrow as well.

Oh and to get in the mood, I dressed in all of my skull related apparel! Team Skull has my favorite design of all of the evil teams and they are as edgy as I want everything to be c:

I haven't worn my fingerless skeleton gloves in ages... also not pictured are my bat wing boots c:

Thanks to Daylight Savings Time, you have to wait an additional hour than you usually have to! So technically you would only have to wait 1.5 hour now, instead of the 2.5 hours! Stinks right?

Actually this is the time it would be if Daylight Savings Time didn't exist. Since we're not observing it right now.

I've got some amazing Nuzlocke run streamers in my favorites bar. Will happily share some links if they kick off runs either tonight or over the weekend. I will be SHOCKED if anyone gets through the game in one piece blind - although some may have been doing their own prep work watching leak streams in advance.

Blind Nuzlocke runs will be absolute carnage and entertaining as all heck.

Got the litten babies boomin. I guess people want eggs so I don't have to hatch em. The Taurus rodeo daycare trick is so sketchy. I worry about that circle pad so I do it slow. Def need a magby if you're gonna breed.

Edit: I love team skull. I hope they have an outfit.

Man...
Massive spoilers for an evolutionary line you've been warned
Lunala/Solgaleo's pre-evos are going to be murder on people's living dexes huh

Not a big deal if you own both games.
You outright catch your game's legendary and receive a Cosmog in the postgame. If you have both games you get both legendaries and two Cosmogs, enough for a living dex.

Not especially.
You get a replacement Cosmog in the post-game. Just grab two each run through the game, evolve one part-way and you're set.

Never played XY, but do the boy and girl have an equal amount of effort put into accessories/clothing in this? I think I heard the girls were favored when it came to the fashion in XY. Anyone know if it's the same in this?

Girls are still favored although both genders have more options now.
There may be some exclusive clothing and customization options locked behind Festival Plaza upgrades that haven't really been tapped into as well.

Girls have more variety again. And as far as clothing goes I preferred Gen VI's options for male characters.

Thanks for the info. I'll see if I can make my guy spiffy.

I've successfully managed to stay in the dark in this game. :) I looked up the starter evolutions so I wouldn't end up with a dud
but I don't like any of them :(
and I heard there's no gyms now, and I saw a few of the other new pokemon, but that's about it. I'm not crazy excited as I think I'm pretty bored with the Pokémon formula, but I'm sure I'll still enjoy it and I'll keep an open mind.

Magby is relatively close by so it's not too bad a wait there.

Also, Team Skull does have an outfit iirc

Might have to try using Araquanid (bug/water) in my first competitive team.

Water Bubble - Decreases Fire-type move power on the Pokémon by 50%. Increases power of Water-type moves used by the Pokémon by 100% before adding STAB. Prevents Burn
+
Hydro Vortex Z-Move (160)

That combo seems ridiculous.
Only 70 base attack, but it seems pretty bulky with solid typing and 92/132 in defensive stats, so getting off a Hydro Vortex shouldn't be a problem.
Excited to try it out.

EDIT: My bad, sorry for the spoiler guys.

I see Granbull has been switched to Fairy. I forget about the Pokemon sometimes. Is it any good?
Fairy-type pokemon are coveted as checks against the many Fighting / Dragon / Dark pokemon out there and Granbull boasts the highest physical attack out of all of them (
with the exception of Tapu Bulu
).

It boasts lackluster defenses and speed but it hits hard... most notably with Play Rough and the new Twinkle Tackle Z-move. Just keep it away from Poison abusers and anyone armed with Flash Cannon or Mirror Shot. Intimidate and the extra effect of Play Rough can whittle down most physical attackers. That said, Belly Drum Huge Power Azumarill is still preferred... and IS available via Island Scanner. It just isn't VGC-viable. Clefable is, though. And most of its checks aren't around any more.

Could you put the above text in spoilers please? I don't think this pokemon has been revealed yet and some of us don't want to be spoiled.

Thanks!

I don't think so. Being pure fairy can be a hindrance. For fairy type, I prefer Azumarrill or Togekiss.

Cleafable just beats him hard. Get that one, or once Bank reopens, Azumarill.

Hmm, interesting.

Did they make it Fairy just because it's pink?

Did anyone else order these games from Toys R Us when the two were $51 total a couple weeks ago? Might have been a glitch but so far no cancellation. They haven't been shipped yet, but that may be because I did the free/slowest shipping.
