Pokémon Sun & Moon |OT| Ultra Beasts and where to find them

So how long before I can get a fishing rod or the ability to Surf with PokeRide?

I want to be able to add either a Wishiwashi or a Mareanie to my team as soon as I can.

I'm about to fight Team Skull for the first time.

1)I'm not sure, but if you level up your plaza, sometimes Sophicles will offer you a new building. I've had him introduce Rare Kitchen 2, a straight upgrade to Rare Kitchen 1. There is also another upgrade that lets you buy shops from other guests with Festival Coins. But since today is day one, people probably won't have a lot of options.

2)Yes... but I don't know how I did it.

1) I guess it will be while before people figure out the best methods. No big deal since I probably won't mess with the feature too much until post-game.

2) I just figured it out. The mark disappears when there are no more guests who have a request for you. And I also discovered that a person name will have a red background when they have a request. If not, it's blue.

So is everyone happy with Sun/Moon - I probably might get Switch and depending on the reviews the enhanced port... haven't played a full Pokemon game since Black/White. I will probably enjoy it but I can't bring myself to playing something like a DS/3DS Pokemon game anymore(usually end up spending far too much time).

Sun acquired!

Naturally, instead of immediately opening it and playing, I decided to jump on gaf and post about it, as any normal person would. lol

Don't worry Popplio, I'll be there soon~

Picked it up with a 2DS. I'll pick up an XL once they drop in price (I had one but sold it awhile ago for some cash when I was broke). Can't wait to dive into it tonight, I really haven't been looking at anything from it in the past 2 months.

Can someone briefly summarize this in a way that doesn't involve an obnoxious YouTuber?
1. Have a strong Pokemon with False Swipe and moves with a lot of PP.
2. Have an antidote and adrenaline orb.
3. Get into fight with Pokemon you want the shiny for.
4. Use False Swipe.
5. Use Adrenaline Orb so the Pokemon calls for help more often (a lot more because low health).
6. Wait until it calls for help. If it's not a shiny, kill the new one.
*. Use antidote to skip a turn if the Pokemon doesn't call for help or if you need to skip a turn. There's a bug that if your Pokemon isn't poisoned and you use an antidote it wastes the turn but not the item. Use potions to heal up or whatever.
7. Repeat 20-30 times then kill the original because it has run out of PP.
8. Repeat until shiny.

Dude got 2 shinies in 80 attempts. Yeah, luck, but it seems way faster and the rates are higher. Plus this method is good for EV and EXP.

1. False swipe wild Pokemon to 1hp
2. Use adrenaline orb to get it to call for help
3. Help Pokémon have a higher chance of having Hidden abilities/being shiny
4. Keep the battle going as long as possible to keep help Pokémon coming

Oh wow, I only found out after watching a streamer something that I wondered for a long while after finishing the game.

End game SPOILERS:

That one house where the father tells you the son ran away is actually a daughter, and it's the Elite Four flying specialist. I was like "where the hell did this woman came from".
Wait, there's a house like that? I have to check this out myself later...

Is there an optimal level to evolve Pikachu? IIRC most Pokemon that evolve with a stone lose some moves after evolution, so it can be best to wait until they learn their most powerful moves before evolving. But presumably Raichu's moveset is pretty different. Best to evolve as soon as possible?

Anyone going for Litten? I actually think Incineroar looks cool as a companion, but I don't see many fans.

There are two inceniroar avatars here.

You can check Serebii for more specifics, but Pikachu learns Thunderbolt around Lv42. Alolan Raichu, just like the regular one, presumably can only learn its movesets (Psychic for example) through Heart Scales, or whatever the equivalent of those are in Gen 7 if it's been replaced.

I woke up at 6am and started playing. I love how the devs listened to feedback regarding making balanced teams early. I have a pretty well rounded team before I even got to fight the Team Skull Grunts.

I also found a Pichu pretty early, I am all about the Alolian Raichu when I can get it!

I was really torn between Rowlett and Litten, but I'm going to go with Rowlett. Hearing about this potential Star version is exciting though, because I'll definitely use Litten for that one.

How are you guys feeling about the Switch Stars rumor/leak?

I keep going back and forth now about whether I'm gonna pick this up. :S

Pokemon games come out almost yearly, I'd be more surprised if there wasn't another game next year. Eurogamer reporting it as 'Sun/Moon port' is gonna shake some people but if it's the third version then that wouldn't be so different for the franchise minus the jump to new hardware.

Edit: I guess Sun/Moon port was just the initial GAF thread title

Is it advised to have a competitive team that primarily is speed based (5 team members) but has one that is completely shit in terms of speed? Or is it common that you go all in on one or the other (all 6 speed, or all 6 slow with a Trick room user)?

Hey, better than fishing in one spot over and over again.

Just picked up Sun and I don't eve have a 3DS yet...This will be the first pokemon game I've played in quite some time.

I got one of those mythical pokemon cards from GS too, is it confirmed if they work in Sun/Moon. Back of the card only mentions X/Y and OR/AS

So apparently my delayed copy from Amazon that kept looping from local to Louisville to out for delivery over and over again got delivered and I got to play up to the point you get a starter during my lunch break.

Got a female Rowlet first go, so that's neat.
