Pokémon Sun & Moon |OT| Ultra Beasts and where to find them

I havent seen one of any gender, but is there any reason why people want a female Salandit? Just for breeding or is there an ability / visual difference?

I've been making due with Flame Charge. It's alright, I guess. It gets Flare Blitz eventually, but Rock Head is a Hidden Ability, so its usefulness isn't great with Cursed Body. I wish I had Lightning Rod though, another immunity would be preferred because Marowak dies too easily to make use of Cursed Body.

I'm not really sure why Flame Wheel and Shadow Bone are before 28. There's no point. In fact, it learns Flame Wheel at two different levels before 28 (1 and 11)

Looking at its moveset makes me almost think it had a different evolution method (like Dusk Stone, maybe) before they settled on 28 at night late. A Marowak also doesn't change its stats in any way.

Shadow Bone looks like an excellent move... if Marowak could actually learn it without a Heart Scale. And without Thick Club, using A Marowak is basically pointless. It's bad. With Thick Club it turns into a glass cannon. A pretty decent one, if its movepool wasn't terrible. I was legitimately shocked they couldn't even allow it to learn the Shadow Claw TM.

Move distribution is wacky this game. Decidueye, a Pokemon partially based on Robin Hood, cannot learn Thief.

I suspect it was supposed to learn Shadow Bone when it evolved but someone put the level in wrong or its evolution level got pushed back (surprised they didn't make it an Evolution move). Moves that are supposed to be Tutor only get put in right at the start so they get pushed out by the level 1 set so it's probably not that.

I still don't understand why we can't catch 1 Pokémon among a group.
Rather than getting rid of reinforcements, they should change that.

Metroidvania

People called Romanes they go the house?

I presume the point is to not let you overly take advantage of chains mid-go-through, and potentially 'abuse' the system.

Not saying that it makes sense, but that's about the only reason I can see, lol. Especially since the totem battles disable capturing by default, which would be the only other reason they'd block it.

So apparently this game is yet another hand-holdy abortion and I should just play Pokemon Uranium instead?

You could get over yourself and enjoy a game that's still fun and challenging, even though it's very welcoming to new players

Which is a really good thing as I bet there'll be a lot of em thanks to Go

Can't be caught.

Nope. Wicke even states twice that using pokeballs in the area is forbidden and impossible.

Thanks for the quick replies.
That's why I didn't even try, but I was paranoid when the fight ended so fast and worried that maybe whatever happened downstairs destroyed the "ball jammer" or whatever. Thanks though!

Edit:
How do you get Pokémon that show up on the field (like Wimpod) to respawn?

I read elsewhere it takes 24 hours for it to respawn. I'm waiting for my Wimpod to come back too after accidentally one-shotting him. =[

You're guided through the region, but there's plenty of pitstops you can take along the way and side attractions, unlike certain other regions.

It's also significantly more challenging than any title in recent memory.

I'm joking, actually. I saw someone saying as much in that AM2R whine thread and got pretty upset, since I'm enjoying the game a lot so far.

Nah, tried that. Actually caught the wimpod on first try but I want a different nature.

Don't think it'll ever respawn if you caught it. If it can, it hasn't for me on either Sun or Moon.

There's another later in the game, though.

Uh, so what would be the easiest way to get a pokemon to Level 100 to do Hyper Training considering the experience curve? Already finished the main game.

I really like how you can catch a Rufflet as early as Route 3 - it was wasted in White as it was found late in the game - but it's ridiculous that they didn't change Gen V's insane level 54 evolution requirement.

Anyone else feel bad for the Pokemon who don't get any help? I always am tempted to catch them if I don't already have one

They almost never adjust for that. You can get Ponyt with Stomp super early in some games but it still doesn't evolve until the same level as in Gen 1.

The OST is pretty bad in Sun-Moon. XY have a much better OST.

It's a pity ! /sadface

Impossible, impossibly, absolutely impossible.

The OST in XY is good, but standard Pokemon fare.

S&M breaks away from series tradition by offering a soundtrack with a fairly different vibe and it's so much better for it. The tracks are damn memorable too.

I disagree on the grounds that the routes are really, really narrow. Like fuck, even Kalos and Unova routes don't have this "this is the only pathway" in design.

This.

Question regarding Evolution Moves: if I have a Lv16 Kadabra who learned Kinesis upon Evolution, would he then learn Confusion if I evolved him into an Alakazam right now?

I disagree. You're outright told where to go to, so it's less pitstops and more like "this quest's questline will be halted for this other questline". And the fact that there are fucking cutscenes for every step you make. It's so annoying.

And the challenge I'd argue comes more from unprepared people than anything else. Like I said earlier, the ones having trouble with Smeargle probably didn't give their Trumbeak or Pikipek a Brick Break.

Sun/Moon is weird regarding Kadabra atm, both he and Alakazam are supposed to learn Confusion at lvl 16 instead of Kinesis.

Oh please, XY IS the break from standard fare, hence why many people aren't so keen on it. It uses different melodies and even instruments not usually found in Pokemon and it gets shit on it.

For SM you only see it on certain places (the Hawaiian vibe) but otherwise the music is standard, for some odd reason Hoenn-ish, music.

Thats an interesting question and worth testing, I suspect not though, I'd guess it still goes into the Evolution move logic finds no eligible move and then exists without going to the level up check.

SM is definitely went for a completely different music direction, but different isn't necessarily better. I feel like the game really excelled when it came to more quiet, subdued pieces but didn't handle battle themes well. A lot of them are overly dramatic with a lot of build up to nothing.

I can count the number of tracks that really stood out to me on 1 hand, unfortunately.

Yeah I think Sun Moon succeded in city music and background drops but nothing comes close to matching the Champion themes of early gens or Zinnia of ORAS in terms of Sun/Moon encounter themes.

The ambient styles are beautiful but the more high-beat stuff is mixed. The somber tracks of certain story battles and goffy punk-rock Skull ones are amazing as fk tho. Bascially everything sides the "EPIC" tracks are great.

Pokemon might be better off not trying to keep referencing old songs in their new ones.
