Final Fantasy XV SPOILER THREAD

So what happens to Luna's bro, and to the Nifelheim king? And what's Ardyn's deal anyway?

From what i know about Ravus, he becomes a sympathetic character. ANd the Ardyn is apparently a previous Lucian king who was not chosen by the crystal or the gods and so was jealous. Somehow he was cursed by immortality and has been waiting generations to get revenge.

The game is good imo,but it has many flaws and feels a bit unfinished. If you read the Edge (p)review it was actually spot on. The writer said on twitter he felt the game was good, don't mind the overreactions. I consider it to be better than FF XIII, definitely.

If its already better than XIII, its already a buy for me at this point. And I thought XIII was decent. The only real turn off for me while playing the Platinum demo was the framerate seemed choppy at times? Seeming theres no mention of it in this thread, I'm assuming its fixed.

It's been fixed.

They basically ditched the lighting from Platinum and Duscae Demo which is a shame because it was objectively superior but it obviously came at too large of a cost.

You are absolutely not in the middle, lol. That's fine, but seriously, people need to take criticism of this game a bit less personally.

Of course i'm in the middle :P

I don't think the game is gonna be a masterpiece or anything, or even super great. As i said before, i think it'll be a hot mess in terms of cohesion and anyone who has been paying any attention to development on a constant basis will be able to see the seams barely holding together.

But that doesn't mean the game can't be fun or good or a success in its own way. I expect the meta will be an 80 to 85

I would say i'm in the middle of those who claim this game is going to be 10 out of 10 masterpiece that lives up to 10 years of hype and anyone who says otherwise is a hater. And those who have read the spoilers or just seen some footage and have already dismissed the game as the worst failure ever without playing it.

Hard to say till I play it myself, but it sounds like for the most part everything aside from the story turned out to pretty well or at least is fun. It is a shame to hear the story seems to be a mess, but I'll have to see it for myself to make my own conclusions.

This was brought up but I'm not exactly surprised that there's a clash in tone at points. That was something that always seemed off to me, even a bit back in the Versus days. You have all this business of the kingdom being taken down and the possibility your father has been killed, but you're also doing this fun road trip?

Granted, perhaps it would have worked out much better with multiple games. I admit I am curious as to what the sequence of events was going to be with XV as Nomura had intended. It would have had to have more to it to justify that many games. But I suppose that's something everyone would be curious about, eh?

We don't know anything about how the story went in Versus besides the fact that you meet Stella at a party, Nifleheim attacks and you have to end up getting TFO of there.

There was no fun actually portrayed in Versus, just combat and a lot of drama based on the 2011 trailer. Which IMO made the story much more consistent with how it was being portrayed in a darker light.

A lot of the complaints of current FF15 based on the spoilers and ending is that the journey for the most part is pretty light and doesn't support the crazy downer ending in tone until like chapter 6 or 7

No, how could I? They were beautiful, with Stand By Me playing while the pictures prompto took of your journey appearing one by one :(..

Well the game starts with Noctis telling Glauca to take care of Regis, so that was beautifully ironic. Other than that I don't think there were any references. I was hoping for a boss fight again daemon Glauca :(.

:(.

Yeah I'm seriously annoyed by people judging the game based on shitty rushed streams, judging the ending without knowing the context, judging the set-pieces without playing them.

That Leviathan fight was the hypest shit ever when it happened. I wasn't expecting the game to go full anime nor Noctis getting the powerful early on. It was a legit great moment, very memorable, flying througg the destroyed city ripping Leviathan's body apart.

And the last chapter was purely perfection man.. still gives me the chills thinking about it.

I mean, the game has its problem, and blue balls moments, but how couldn't it? It's a game that stayed 10 years in development hell, and it's actually quit respectable how good it turned out to be regardless.

I mean, I'm pretty sure that, not counting Bloodborne, this was the most fun I had with a game this generation. People should give it its fair chance.

So on the credits, it's mostly flashbacks from your adventure?

This is the animation for "Adopt a reasonable tone." for asking with the leviathan for it's power...

Haha what the fuck

Who knows, Glauca may still be a boss in one of the optional dungeons, DLC or a sidequest. We don't know anything about those yet... and it would make sense for the Kingsglaive stuff to be in sidequests since clearly Tabata & co thought Kingsglaive was standalone enough to remove it from the opening of the main game. This means Noctis & the chocobros don't even know that Glauca is Drautos and that he was the one to kill Regis, so he really doesn't have any place in the main story.

I think its better if glauca is written out of the story entirely. THe game should be fully stand alone without need to watch the movie.

The road trip was an aspect of things that stayed through, right? Could of sworn I read that bit.

Watching a stream of some dude exploring Lestallum... Makes me think it's a complete waste of resources and time to recreate a city 1:1 in a jrpg. Ni No Kuni had several really pretty towns and they didn't need to be huge.

Oh.

Eh.

there's a second option to demand it's power...yet THIS is the reasonable one.

wtf was the acting direction for the mocap actors in this game man?? I'm so genuinely curious as to what they were thinking.

Lmaoooooo

Why even have a movie if the fucking antagonist from it doesn't make any meaningful (if any from what I read) appearance in the game set directly after, despite living through it? Does he just hang up his armor and open a noodle store somewhere?

The road trip was an aspect of things that stayed through, right? Could of sworn I read that bit.

The journey and roadtrip aspect was apart of Versus's story yes, but i think when it switched to 15, and especially after tabata took over, the road trip angle became far more prominent. By the end of development, i think that it was primarily pushed as a way to pad out the game with things to do while putting the story on the back burner.

Apparently people say that half the game nothing actually happens significantly in the story.

Certainly a speculation that would make sense with things. It is a shame we'll probably never know the full truth.

WHen Stella was thrown out of the picture, Ravus was downgraded and other things were changed, i think that was absolutely apart of it.

They had to rewrite everything completely differently and delete everything else that didn't mesh with completing the product.

What's funny is that i actually think the tragic parts of the game actually make logical sense when they start happening.

Luna as the oracle brought 'light' to the world, while the king's lucius brought darkness.

Apparently since Luna died, the world would always be consumed with darkness as there was no more light, the balance was destroyed.

THe kingdom of lucius was apparently apart of the evil darkness that was always held at bay by the family of the oracle, and so to save the world, the Kingdom of Lucian had to be completely annihilated.

Through this, magic in the world was deleted and the legends became nothing more than memories to humans

I certainly am. One reason Tabata mentioned is that SE would rather not have the game run over more than one game, for financial reasons I assume. But then proceed to make a feature-length CGI film, an OVA series, along with several DLC stories.

I don't understand. What was even the point of even gutting the game to such an extent? Especially since they didn't do that to Agito XIII, they simply renamed it Type-0 and called it a day. Even remade the game for PS4 and XB1. That was also apart of the FNC.

Yeah, Ravus or whoever he may have originally been was certainly since they had appeared to be aiming him as a rival to Noctis or at least that's what I speculate just from how he was framed in the few times we saw him.

Putting it that way it does make sense I'd say.

Outsourcing a CGI movie, a cheap anime series(making anime is comparatively cheap to every other form of media) was super cheap compared to adding onto the base game, and DLC was in the cards for post launch anyway surely.

How was Ravus downgraded, all we saw was a dude in a hood. With the same mouth and chin as every Nomura character ever. :|

Well, we knew he had the power to go up against Noctis's signature ability at one time, and the fact that he was shrouded implies a very high importance due to his relationship with Stella as well.

Now he's just a dude who got his arm burnt off by being a dumbass, and in the game he's just a robot arm guy who has a sword who gets beat and becomes a good guy.

He was super hyped up at one point

They also downgraded Noctis from having bazillions of swords to only having 13.

Although the story seems to be pure butt (although that's really nothing new for this franchise), the gameplay and dungeons seem to be pretty good from what I'm seeing. I think that's how most reviews will go.

Since he had no character back then people can fantasize about him being better than the Ravus we have now.

Fair point. We really didn't have a damn clue who he was back then and still don't really. I'd be curious to know if he was meant to be Stella's brother back then. I suppose that goes for most of Versus since we didn't know much beyond some scant details with most of it concerning the invasion.

I think its plenty obvious that character arcs, entire characters and entire plot points have been significantly deleted and or changed even from just a few years ago in FF15's lifespan.

I'm not saying its good or bad, but denying that is the case literally does not make sense, that is what a development hell is like.

Yap anyone can post the synopsis of the plot. Why is Noctis fighting the summons?
And where can i find the ending fight on YouTube?
Kind of sad old, im open to spoiling a FF game nowadays.

Guys, Nomura took his Versus ideas to KH3...
I bet.

Anyway, I can't get the cosmogony/cosmonogy (which is it?) lore stuff out of my head.

I'm also wondering if there's a Bahamut fight before the final battle at some point to gain the ability to summon her(?). And who is Bahamut?

Noctis is fighting the summons to gain the power of the gods. The summors are literal gods of their world. He's also trying to find the 13 swords of Lucius scattered throughout the world. And to reunite with Luna who is the Oracle. Oracle is light and Lucian is darkness is their world, so they must always be revolving or bad things happen. Turns out bad shit happens and things go south

Bahumut is rumored to be Araeana

But that's just a CGI concept render, (i.e. the vast majority of anything we saw from Vesus), that had no bearing on the game itself and likely wouldn't have even made it into the game? Plus it's Nomura, his story would've likely been terrible anyways, there's no way Versus's story would've been even remotely good with Nomura being the writer.

That doesn't make sense to me. Kingsglaive wasn't entirely outsourced. The production was shared between Visual Works and several studios. Sure the anime is relatively cheaper to produce, but my point is why bother pursuing that in the first place?

By 2011 when it was still Versus, according to Nomura the game was playable from start to finish, but had trouble running stably on PS3's hardware. It was at this time they decided to move assets over to PS4, continuing development and even recreating some assets in higher quality. The project was pretty much moving foward. I'm guessing at this point Nomura was co-directing with Tabata, which was disclosed alongside the reveal in 2013.

All the drastic changes came after that. All the preproduction was done. The game was making headway, yet for some reason SE wanted it to go in another direction. Literally. I'm very much curious in hearing their reasoning for that decision.

I agree with you but also disagree with you. But that's only because I love Nomura's pseudo-anime garbage ironically. I can accept it's all pretty stupid and nonsensical for the majority.

Solid Sora beat the game and says that isn't true.

edit: beaten like a horse

that's why i said 'rumored' guys.

As for Ardyn...he's pretty understated as a villain. Just a previous Lucian king who was angry that the power of the crstyal didn't recognize him. He got cursed with no aging and was corrupted by the evil within the bloodline. So his whole beef with Noctis is destroying the lucian bloodline and the crystal
