Buying a 4K TV for PS4K thread!

Does anyone here own the Samsung KU6290 or KU6300?

I have the 40" KU6290 and it has horrible motion blur. It does not look much worse than most TVs when playing modern games.

But, when I play the NES Mini, it is one of the worst LCD TVs I have ever seen in terms of motion blur. Super Mario 3 really highlights this. The blocks leave trails when the screen scrolls. When you jump, Mario leaves a trail of ghost Marios.

I have tried different HDMI cables/inputs. I also ran Super Mario 3 on an emulator to make sure the NES Mini was not the problem. The results were the same.

Do you have the Samsung set to Game Mode for the picture setting?

They do not have it unfortunately.
I havent seen an HDR 60-65" for less than $1000.

I understand :/

If HDR doesn't matter to you or you are not like me that regrets not saving for later, I would recommend you to do it o/

This is comming from someone with a 32" Full HD TV waiting for the right deal hahaha

Edit: Ok. Found out that the KU6000 series, at least the 6300 and I belive the 6000 also, is not HDR10.
I think I'll wait more...

Fistbump

I got the KD49X8077 (same TV but black)

From what I read we've made a good choice (and cheap on black friday deals)
Very nice! Yeah this to me seems one of the best TVs at this size - looking forward to testing out some 4K and HDR tomorrow!

Upgraded the Netflix plan in anticipation but they don't let you browse the 4K content list on a non-4K device by the looks of it. The wait continues!

LG C6 OLED and LG SH7 soundbar + sub bought!

I just went to Best Buy and now absolutely know 55 is too small for a 4K TV imo (I get that there's some subjective factors)

The kS8000 is gorgeous

What's the equivalent to that one in price and quality but full array backlight from any brand?

What did 65" TVs look like before 4K? Crap? I'm trying to imagine like a 720p 65" TV.

Anyway playing games has TOTALLY changed for me. The extra 20" makes playing games a whole new experience.

I don't think they're equivalent 1:1 but the Vizio M Series comes to mind, particularly the M65-D0 (60 inches and up have a 120hz refresh rate) because it does have FALD. This is the rtings review here.

After spending a lot of time on my new LG UH6030, I am really, really impressed. Final Fantasy XV looks AMAZING, BF1 looks phenomenal, Ratcher & Clank in HDR looks stunning and vibrant, Killing Floor 2 is tack-sharp and Bound is breathtaking. I am in love with 4K!

Is this the TV you're talking about?

Because if it's as good as you say, for $379 I don't know how I can pass.

I might be thinking of the wrong model but I believe all the LG UH models are RGBW and not true RGB which means they are using always white pixels to "fake" luminosity and that means fewer true display pixels. I personally don't think its a huge deal but it definitely makes for lesser images than a true 4K display.

I purchased it yesterday and I love it to death. The HDR looks great to me, but I have never seen it in person before, so I'm not sure great judge. The 4K content and everything is so, so good.
I can't get the wife to give me the thumbs up. So it's a no go for me anyway.

Oh well.

If you were coming from standard def in 06/07, it looked damn good lol.

(First time I saw HD was at a friend's place, gears of war. Not sure if it was 65 inch, but it was up there)

The KS8000 I got through the EPP deal has very minor flashlighting in the top right hand corner and I don't even care. These panels are never perfect. I will keep it with no regrets.

EDIT: Also since the KS8000 does some local dimming, dark scenes where the flashlighting would be noticeable often get dimmed anyway making it even more of a non issue.

thanks for that info. great to hear. my ks9000 is set to be delivered 12/9. they must be busy because that was the earliest date available. that's fine though, since i get my christmas bonus the first week of december and i'm going to pick up a ps4 pro. thought about getting samsungs 4k dvd player but i also signed up on the oppo website for notification when their player is available so i still have to decide if i want to pay the premium for the oppo (i have an oppo bluray player at the moment that i love so may just stick with that for now).

They looked fine, 4k just allows a closer seating position. There are visual acquity slides out there that detail seating distance for various size TVs at each resolution. A 65" is like 6 ft, 9 ft, 12-13 ft for 4K, 1080p, 720 respectively. At those distances, the normal person wouldn't see picture structure. I wouldn't really want to sit closer than 8-9 ft from a 65" anyways, so HDR is the big bonus.

You and the other guys just convinced me to buy this TV. Couldn't resist the price (with no added tax or shipping) for the size and some semblance of HDR. It'll be a huge upgrade regardless from my current TV.

I got a 60" Sony LCD from 2005 and its still going strong. The picture still looks good honestly and its 720p. I have a Vizio M 4k 60" as well and sometimes I enjoy watching a anime on the 60" better I'm not sure why maybe the softer look. Anyways you'd be surprised if it was a high end tv of the time. We paid $4000 for it lol.

This seems strange to me. It HDR on there for marketing then? Since consoles are pushing it and movies might use it, it seems odd to have it but not benefit from it.

Its like playing a 1080p movie on a 720p tv. The tv will accept the 1080p source, but it will still play it on 720p. It wont turn your tv into a 1080p tv. A lot of the more affordable tvs will accept the hdr signal, but since it does not have a wide color gamut, it will display it with the gamut the tv is capable of.

I dont know how companies can get away with it. Its similar to how some tvs say on the box 120hz, even though it is a native 60hz tv.

The ku6300 is still a good tv for the price. I think it is the best tv in this price range.

A mix of both. By saying it is HDR you are more likely to buy it over a non HDR 4k tv. However, while the 6300 series does not have a wide color gamut or hit over 1100 nits of brightness, it is able to use HDR metadata to improve the image over a 4K SDR image especially in terms of using its roughly 400 nits of brightness to highlight details. But up against any HDR tv with a wide color gamut or full UHD premium certified spec, you will see the limitations.

I really, REALLY wish this samsung employee pricing would work/ship for people in Canada. I've got a decade old 32" I've been using and can't afford the $2000 it costs here, and even the $1400 ish right now that it would be all in for the smallest one from BH is sounding high. Anyone dissatisfied with theirs and bought an OLED and feel like donating their KS8000 before it gets dusty ? lol.

Was thinking of getting LG Electronics 43UH6030 43-Inch 4K Ultra HD Smart LED TV (2016 Model) from Newegg since it's an early "Black Friday" deal ($299.99).

I'm also getting a PS4 Pro on Monday. You reckon this TV will be good enough, or is it worth just saving another $500 and get a better one?
I really love this model from LG, I own 2 of them now. I bought the Black Friday deal from Microcenter and had them price match Wal-Mart's $297 deal.

* By far, this was the best dual use TV and monitor I could find. With Game picture mode, PC and Ultra Deep Color options enabled, it works beautifully with my Windows PC tower. You can even hack a 75 Hz 1080p resolution if you know how with your VGA card's app or the CRU utility. If you want real native 120 Hz panels at this screen size, then you gotta pay more for Sony models. Most all brands 55" or more will be 120 Hz for real, but that's too big for a dual use case on your work desk.

* I like the smart OS, but I wish LG had gone with Android given all the app developer support... There are still very little apps made for LG's custom OS...

* Playing a movie file from a USB memory stick is a breeze.

* I don't care about the RGBW pixel structure, any video, 4K included, looks beautiful with the right adjustments. I know that's why they're cheaper than others, but this hasn't bothered me one bit, even when using my PC, and I bought many test models (most TVs, some only monitors), yet this looked better than even a 22" AOC computer monitor designated for that purpose!!

* First time I encountered IPS panels, and I do love how there's no distortion from any angle, but the panel is glossy and reflective, so not good. Not to mention no true blacks, but if you really want that, go for LG's OLED models.

Anyway, I think you should give it a shot, great deal for the money, and you got your 30 days if it doesn't quite meet your needs. I was really hoping it was a native 120 Hz panel, that would've made it perfect, but I had to learn how that Tru Motion marketing is fakery and it's at best 60 Hz although it does accept a 1080p 75 Hz signal which made the video look really good with my PC.

Pleaaaaaaase help, LG 49UH668V, 10bit or not as I'm finding contrasting information.

Spanish LG site says HDR10:
http://www.lg.com/es/television/lg-49UH668V

English LG site says HDRPro which supposedly means HDR10:
http://www.lg.com/uk/tvs/lg-49UH668V

S21 says HDR10:
http://www.s21.com/lg-49uh668v.htm

US LG says HDR10:
http://www.lg.com/us/experience-tvs/hdr/4k-hdr

But display spec says 8 bit:

Can get one at a steal so tempted but only if compat with XBox One S HDR.

Think of it like HDR-lite. It still looks noticeably better than SDR. But ya, its not as future-proof.

This review team usually mentions the support for 10-bit color depth on LG models. You can't find an exact model here, but this was a review for a 49" in the UH series so should be pretty close to yours.

Quote: "The UH6500 can reproduce a 10 bit color depth without any problems, but unfortunately colors are not as saturated as seen in other wide color gamut TV"

I'm curious to see how much 4K content they have. Worth an upgrade for a month probably but I think I'm grandfathered in at a lower price on the HD tier so if I switch that will probably go away. Might try to see if I can sign up for a free trial in my wife's name

Same here, I wonder if there isn't much 4K stuff there yet and that's why they don't let you freely see the list of titles without upgrading and using a 4K device?

I used to get a lower price but that ended a few months ago and I was moved to the standard £7.49 price - 4K/HDR plan with 4 streams was £8.99, so it wasn't a huge difference at those price points.

does anybody know if one of this has hdr10?

Samsung KU6519 SAMSUNG KU6079

i looked it up and some review´s say it´s only 8bit others say it´s 10bit. is there a firmware update?
