Has anyone figured out how to build a base yet? Also, where do you purchase freighters from?
I'm not talking about the multiplayer itself (it should be possible to run into other players, no matter how infrequently), I'm talking more about the people wanting to match up with friends. They even said that the only way you could do that was to actually find their position in the galaxy and travel to them. So unlike the "multiplayer" aspect, there was never a promise that you would be able to find and play with friendsThat's why I am bemused by the promise of multiplayer being broken. Through every interview Shaun himself said it was practically impossible to find another player anyway , yet because 2 random people found it early ( my guess is the spawn generation fuckt up to even allow that to happen), it's suddenly a massive broken feature .
Let's assume it was in , chances are if the spawn generation had worked correctly no one would have ever found anyone anyway . So the bitchingn is kind of pointless.
Definitely grill them on all the other missing features (factions , space battles etc), but multiplayer seems like the least important broken promise.
I never expected multiplayer and I never expected to see another player online .
Anyway hope we can get some more patch impressions in here , I will definitely rebuy when it's cheap and jump back in , hopefully by then they have even more patches planned .
could you always land on freighter ships (after you saved them from an attack) and claim a reward from the captain?
edit: damn, i just bought a freighter ship that looks like a fucking star destroyer.
I'd like to see reviews from people who have yet to play the game at all with this new update.
I was feeling hesitant on buying it at first, so I'm glad I waited. At the same time, seeing them put in the work necessary, I have a feeling I would enjoy this more with the update, or perhaps after the next big one.
Also, where do you purchase freighters from?

Great update, but it really doesn't fix the core problem of the game.
Essentially, this update gives players the ability to grind and make some cool bases and spaceships, but ultimately the game will still feel hollow and pointless because:
1. There is nothing actually happening in the universe. There's no conflict (enemies, civilizations/agents in your way), no purpose, nothing. After you've built your stuff... you've just kinda built some stuff that you can look at.
2. There's no multiplayer. It would've been neat if we could at least congregate at someone's base or freighter.
So yeah, I'll probably play again for a bit only to wonder why I'm doing any of this at all and stop playing.
Yes, too much time has passed to address the issue and keep playing the victim card.
So when they come back and play the victim card, I'm not allowed to call them out on it?
Did you actually read the rest of my post or just zero on on that and skip the rest?
Reading comprehension is a thing. You should try it sometime, RPGam3r. Like, the immediate sentence following that one. Perspective, holy shit!
Yea, I don't really get it myself how this suddenly fixes everything.
So this is basically where the game should've been at when it launched? I'll be watching from a distance and see how thing will be going.
nobody said it does. and if you want multiplayer or a story...its simply not the right game for you. no patch will fix that.
It's not a single sentence. It's not just that one tweet. They have constantly reveled in their own greatness of their small team and mention it constantly.
How about mentioning the consumer? How about considering the consumer instead of themselves, for once?

Minecraft and a billion+ reasons says hi.
This ain't Minecraft, but don't knock resource management and building games. They're their own genre and there's plenty to do if designed well.
One thing I thought would have been pretty mind blowing that was mentioned I think by a GT podcast(?) was how fucking insane would it be if MP was a thing that worked but due to the universe's sheer size, you rarely saw anyone - their example was like you've been playing for a month or two and out of nowhere come across another player. That would absolutely freak me out. Like... What would you do? Try to communicate? Attack? Jump up and down? Trade supplies?Yea, I don't really get it myself how this suddenly fixes everything.
Probably has to do with me being a consumer and having respect for them, too.I read the rest of your post. I disagree with you and you feel the need to attack my reading ability, wtf. How HG has treated their messaging is the least of your concern as a developer with that attitude.
It's not supposed to.Yea, I don't really get it myself how this suddenly fixes everything.
Welcome to the Foundation Update. It adds the foundations of base building, and is a foundation for things to come. This is the first of many free updates.
I hope Hello Games continues to improve No Man's Sky and make it into the game they wanted it to be.

This is hardly the freeform building game that Minecraft is, lol, they're not comparable at all.
Regardless, the game's initial promise from the trailers is that No Man's Sky does have a purpose. The center of the galaxy is what everyone was supposed to strive for, trying their best to get there while fighting or helping enemy factions and such.
After the game released and all of that turned out to be a sham, the diehard fans such as yourself change topic and argue "Well, this isn't supposed to be that type of game, it's for exploration!!!" -> Conveniently missing the fact that the exploration in NMS is objectively terrible.
And now apparently after this update the game is going to be a base building game of Minecraft caliber. lul
Good for Hello Games! Glad they've been working away on updates and hope this is the start of their redemption. Seems like people are being positive at present, can't wait to see what the next update brings.Overview video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hI9PvjJJijY

Figured it would be handy to have a fresh post to discuss the update itself.
Lock if not.
There is literally a mode where you can build whatever the hell you want. They are limited in the tile set (which can be added to), but please stop moving the goal posts as it were in terms of what this update adds.
Wow, I'm actually considering purchasing the game now.
Probably has to do with me being a consumer and having respect for them, too.
Crazy, right?
