So what you are saying is to expect a port and not an entire new game?

the PS2 game is already on the PS4, the only other things this could mean is PS1 emulation is coming or PSP emulation is coming

anyway PSX hype is kicking into over drive for me now

Well, the VGAs in their current form have existed the same amount of time as PSX has. And always the same weekend. PSX, at its core, is a celebration of the PlayStation brand's fans. Whereas, of course, the VGAs are a reflective award show.

I don't see anything wrong with them co-existing and any sort of announcement cannibalization between the two, I don't think, can be directly correlated. More like "which audience does the announcement appeal to most?"

While a new Parappa game would be cool, I think I'd be more excited for PS1 classics coming to PS4 and Parappa being one of the games. If it's the latter, remember there was that patent early in 2015 that said PS1 and PS2 classics could have enhancements and trophies added. We got the PS2 games last year. Now, that patent is important here, because if the PS1 games are being put through this process, perhaps they fixed the way timing of button press with Parappa. If I recall, Parappa (and other rhythm games of the era) does not work well on current TVs due to input lag that CRTs did not have. That would be neat if they could bring the original back, but with proper timing for button presses.
