That doesn't apply to everyone. My character is Cammy and she's in the game. What I don't want is them to blow their load on new characters especially when they could turn out to be lame like El Fuerte, Rufus, Hakan and Laura.
They're not going to sell season passes at the beginning if people know a bunch of new characters that aren't fan favorites are being added and that's when you will sell a good chunk of the passes.Lol people complained about the season pass for S1 not saying what characters would come with it.
There's no need to announce the new characters right now. Capcom is letting us have fun guessing and then when the patch drops the 20th we'll datamine the shit out of it.
If they're completely new characters, there's nothing to guess. That's not fun at all. They could at least give us something more as a hint, because silhouettes of characters we've never seen before tell us absolutely nothing.Lol people complained about the season pass for S1 not saying what characters would come with it.

Most of them sucked. I've used Alex for hundreds of matches and I still wish I hadn't spent money on him (should have bought Guile even if he has never excited me much). If the buffs are good I'll buy the S1 pass at a low price during this upcoming steam sale since I'm only getting 5 characters. What people said about characters being "new to the universe" makes Ingrid possible, though. If she is in there and the S2 DLC cast isn't butt then I might just buy the pass way sooner at full price.Season 1 Character Pass had all returning characters, look how will it worked out. May as well do brand new characters with the way people shit on every decision SFV goes with.

I think it's pretty important for them to sell season passes early on. If they're not making money, they're not going to be putting as much money into the game in the future. You can only sell season passes at the beginning? S1's pass became really good/worth it when Urien dropped and when they added the colors 3-10 for both outfits. That was in September, months after they announced the pass.
I mean they will give us a hint eventually. Why does it have to be right now? And yeah i guess if they are brand spanking new, never-before-seen characters then guessing would be hard but im sure theres hints somewhere in SFV and the CFN portal.

Eh, not really. A lot of people (myself included) plan on buying every character released for this game regardless of who they are.old or new, you don't buy a season pass now either way.
thats dumb, wait and see what it has.
I like the spirit of it... for me 3s is the pinnacle of the genre from a conceptual standpoint along with the gameplay, audio/visual elements, etc. If I want to play the likes of Sagat, Sakura, etc that badly I'll pick up any of several dozen fighting games that he's featured in -- and probably be able to play it online. I'll never truly understand the "It's not (insert series) for me if (insert character) isn't in it" stuff. In a fighting game, the more new shit the better for me. New stages, new characters, new combos/mechanics. How many people bitched about Cammy, Vega and Guile not being in Street Fighter Alpha, instead we got some wannabe-Ryu schoolgirl, a wannabe Guile, a fishnet wearing ninja from Final Fight, etc. Lo and behold, SFA was successful and those characters became popular. I'm not saying people don't have a right to feel a certain way, just that I can't sympathize.
With all that said, in the context of SFV this reads to me like a mixed message from Capcom. Season 2 would've been the perfect time to reintroduce characters that were in high demand and sprinkle some new ones in. They have to literally sell these characters, after all, and a game that's doing well can afford to take risks like this. A game that isn't? Well, I guess it's good for people like me, but I don't really understand the decision!
No way that this game gets support until 2020. Expect it to be discontinued way before of that.

Let's go Akira!
And I totally see Ingrid now that she's mentioned. Hopefully Haggar too?
Hell, Marvel Vs. Capcom: Infinite is going to wind up receiving a lot of attention more so than SF V will once it's out. Even from tournament players. The only reason that people play SF V in tournaments at this point is for the prize money.
SF V just doesn't have the same charm as SF IV & it's iterations.
I hope the newcomers add a bit more national or geographical diversity to the cast. I'd love to see a character from Oceania, and more Asian (other than the countries represented in the series thus far) and African characters.

They may name her Kolin for the sake of continuity if she's coming.I think the new characters (from looking at the silhouettes and some art) are the following:
- Helen
- Gotetsu
- Matthew (Delta Red member, has cybernetic implants.)
- Satsuki
- Luke (a character from the cancelled Capcom Fighting All-Stars)
Judging by the way they worded it, I want to think they meant characters who don't have a playable / non NPC-controlled form in the series. I could easily be wrong about this and I'm willing to change my mind if so.
My reasons for why these are based on the similarities with specific details between the silhouettes and the art. Not to mention some of them are a bit obvious after looking at specific art based on the guesses.

I love how people try to pass this off as factual. Like it's impossible to enjoy the game in it's current state lol smh
Holy shit, that might be the dumbest article I've ever seen.Max and Scott!!!???
I'd much rather we get no more East Asian characters at all (they've got enough representation to last for ages) and get folks from India, Eastern Europe, Sub-Saharan Africa, Latin America, etc... and we'd be good. In this instance Tekken is doing a much better job of having a global roster.
It's pretty crazy that Laura is the series' first character from Latin America, for example.
I agree with anyone saying getting people to buy a season pass without knowing who is in it or even a rough gameplay description isn't smart.
That's too aimed at the dedicated.
SFV has had the highest amount of competitive entrants in tournaments than any other fighter in FGC history. It has some of the best backing a fighting game has had. Its also going to be continually supported.
You're right that MvC:I will receive a lot of attention from most ordinary people, and thats because Marvel characters appeal to a wider audience than just Street Fighter. But is its competitive scene going to eclipse SFV? No. Not even close. You can believe it will, but you're gonna be staring in disbelief as SFV continues to do more competitively at events like EVO, both in terms of streamers & entrants, than any other game.
Blanka, Hawk, Juli, Sean, and Oro don't count?

Making statements like this as if they are fact is funny.

We'll see. Give it another year or two from now.
Plus just because that they said that they'll support it until 2020 doesn't mean that they'll fulfill it. Plans can always change.
Why would plans change? They're on an upswing right now. Dear lord, this SFV salt is delicious in some ways. They really have no intention of going anywhere for awhile. They've monetized the FGC, which has been their goal.
They've confirmed from the get-go that there would be a second season. But that doesn't mean that we'll see a season 3 or above. Unlike today, back in 2008, Capcom was financially stable to put out more characters & more iterations, etc. with SF IV. Towards Ultra SF IV, they were in trouble financially, & even had to recycle 4 characters & some stages from Street Fighter x Tekken as well as making a character from using a Cammy clone (Decapre) in order to pass them off as "new shit."
They need the financial support for it to keep going (& I mean a good sum, especially in terms of making more characters, etc.), & they're certainly aren't going to get it from tournaments, especially when Capcom themselves have to also use some of their money (or money from Sony) just for tournaments like EVO in general.
Unless he's the guest character and Akira changed their minds, Capcom's doesn't own the rights to Garuda, or any of the characters created by developer Akira for SF EX series..
