Why waste so much time on a game you hate? Digital copy or something you can't sel back?
I feel like this is one of those arguments you can't win:
- Didn't play it? Man, you're criticizing a game you didn't even play, go form your own impressions
- Did play it? Well, you spent so much time on it, why spend so much time if you didn't like it
For me, FF XV had all the high and low points of WoW, without the multiplayer part. I kept going just because I was hoping that it got really good, but the entire thing surrounding this is a mess. Some characters got more development in the supporting material than in the actual game, others just get killed off with no ceremony. In short, the story doesn't flow in more than one place, there's the god-awful Chapter 13, and just so much that makes me slap my head in frustration.
I'm just laughing myself silly in my chair right now because this is a game that took 10 years to make, one that I see 'A Final Fantasy for fans and first timers alike' every time I load up the damn game, and then it still came out too early from the oven?
I mean, sure, they are fixing it, but I feel like anyone who goes 'they should have finished it in the first place' is entirely justified because they should have. For everyone quoting the high sales numbers:

Consider this:
- They gave Lightning a trilogy that just got worse as time went on
- They made FF XIV not using the lessons they had learned from their other MMO, then basically had to make a second MMO to apologize for the first one
- Now, they're going to have to patch the story in FF XV (its an RPG, the story should kind of be the central feature)
I mean, I already have FF XV, and I waited for the damn thing for 10 years, so I'll take the free update assuming its free by the time its done. But at this point, I think FF XVI is going to be a really hard sell, because this is Square Enix. I can't recall off the top of my head the last game Square Enix (not Squaresoft) made that I will return to after playing it (and no, the games from Eidos don't count, because SE blamed all their losses on them, and they're games Eidos made anyways).
