Final Fantasy XV SPOILER THREAD

It was kind of a 'what if' scenario that showed how they could have lived if they married.

or

It was afterlife where Noctis and Luna were married and lived happily ever after after fulfilling their duty.

Pick your poison.

It was a metaphor for them finally reuniting in death, sleeping eternally together.

Yup, my thought. Saved that game for me. Had it being very mediocre unfortunately.

Pitioss Ruins is something else.

Who... who would have thought that the hardest thing in Final Fantasy XV is also the LAST thing I'd expect to see in it.

My hands are so sweaty.

Pitioss is kind of emblematic of FFXV as a whole. Hey, here's a bunch of functional mechanics, but we'll make something fun out of it.

What was everyone's favorite royal weapons? I'll admit I haven't actually tried them all but the shuriken is the clear best. Following that I like the oracle Trident mainly because of the warp strike. The bow is lame as hell in my experience.

Finally finished the game x_x

One question (of many) - why was Noctis in some prison cell for 10 years leading into the last chapter?

So it turns out my favourite theme (hellfire) wasn't a shinomura piece. :P

Oh? Who was the one that did that wonderful piece then?

Yoshitaka Suzuki.

Oh how come he's not credited in the credits under Music then

SE wanted just Shimomura credited in the game, for whatever reason. We won't know the full scope of how many composers worked on XV until the soundtrack credits are released.

Can't answer questions on credits that other people haven't talked about yet till the OST is out in two weeks, but https://twitter.com/robokick/status/803277112077451264

I honestly think a monster fight would have ruined it tbh. Mostly because of how good the penultimate final boss was and I wouldn't want to fight something crazy after that :3

Opinions, I guess. I know some like the fight as it was, but I wouldn't have mind the great transformation into a "final form". It is something I always look forward to in many JRPGs, especially the FF series. Also, it's not like it wouldn't make sense, given how corrupted Ardyn is(and how basically he absorbed daemons into himself). He doesn't have to be an angelic-looking deity, or something, but it would've been cool to see him as some physical embodiment of the darkness, maybe have half his body melted away into inky strands of darkness that flow from him into the vastness of the final "arena".

I don't use them but they're good for a stat boost. Sword of the Father, Trident of the Oracle and Axe of the Tall (I think), really boosts your strength and MP.

jesus you guys weren't kidding about costlemark.
Wtf is up with all these bombs and granades. I can't see anything but purple! jesus christ

Finished the game tonight and have never been more disappointed in a game in my life...

The game just plain doesn't make sense on so many levels...

Story is a mess, the way the game flows is a mess. Character development is a mess. Ravus doesn't even seem like the same person from Kingsglaive.

Gah :(

Man what a great ending. And the Ifrit boss fight was fucking amazing. I wish that was the final boss instead. Noctis dying wasn't really a big deal to me. It was the scenes afterwards that got me. There was a good story in here somewhere. It peaked at chapter 9. The chapters afterwards were pretty good too. It was an appropriate change in tone after what happened in 9. Of course chapter 13 can get bent. Ardyn was a great villain with great voice acting. I sympathized with him. The game definitely had to he incomplete. The World of Ruin need more play time and there definitely needed to be more cutscenes overall. Stuff like Prompto being an MT had zero impact because there was no build up to it at all.

Eat the food that negates elemental damage = they can't hurt you (I'm pretty sure).

So I finally dug into the collectors edition guide more and it's interesting that under Bosses under bestiary, there are only 6 bosses in the game. The three summons, Aranea, Ravus, and Ardyn (only regular form listed, no Armiger). Now two of those aren't real boss fights, more set pieces (Leviathan can be considered a real one I guess). What's most interesting is Ravus has the highest strength and HP. Ifrit's listed HP is something like 99k (again, not sure which form they're referring to but I assume it's post Bahamut). Ardyn has 200k HP and Ravus has a whooping 285k and something like double the strength stat of the other two.

What do you expect? The entire history of this game was a train wreck.

This will never cease to crack me up.

I still am wondering what the gameplay goals for Chapter 13 were. Did they expect the stealth to work correctly? There was little to no explanation and the ring itself was too weak to do anything by stealing lifeforce.

I had to dodge attacks and use Holy to kill the enemies. :/

They talked about that in the latest update about incoming patches. I think they said it was intended to be some kind of change of pace.

Failure for sure.

Lmao seriously someone needs to make a compilation vid of all the most out-of-place photo match-ups they got and put 'em up. Pretty sure 80% of the photos you could choose from anyway would've been either hilariously random or masochistic, lol.

Costlemark makes me appreciate elemancy much much more. I can deal with a boatload of bombs now (mostly, I have a tone of mega-pheonixes from pitioss). Friendly fire damage is actually pretty negligable in this game, you mostly have to worry about them being incapacitated.

Dude has bad logic. Nights were already growing longer either way. Kill off all of the royalty and let the crystal stay. Same result.

when you wait 2 millennia for the true king to come about, you make sure that when he dies, its something to relish in. He wanted all the astrals to die, for the crystal to be absorbed, and then and only then, could he kill noct "it would bring me scant satisfaction to kill you as a mortal". Him not killing noctis was purely so that he could feel good when it was all over. Killing noct as the journey starts would be the worst anticlimax ever.

also, nights only grew longer as the oracle grew weaker and the gods lessened in number.

edit: call me basic, but i used the group photo from Caim as mine.

I also think Ardyn wanted to give Noctis the chance to finish him off. The dude is a few thousands years old, I'm sure he's longing for death.

It was a win-win situation for him, either he gets his revenge by killing the crystal's champion, or he can finally rest in peace.

Oh I used a group picture of the bros from one of Prompto's dumb picture quests. I just think it's hilarious how ridiculous you can make that last scene.
Only savage people would do that. I showed her a pic of the bros and Noct in Altissia where she was dead.
Okay, that's pretty savage bruh.

I've seen a few good Noodle Cup ones too lol.

Cannot wait for the PC port where people mod in plain screenshots.
I will always be impressed at how good that last scene looks, questionable picture or not lol
All of the actual cutscenes in the game look phenomenal.

Someone has to use a photo of Stella.

shiva design is so bad

It doesn't do anything new when compared to the Shivas of past entries, but I'm having a hard time disliking it; even if Gentiana herself admittedly looks a lot better - when these are the alternatives, sometimes being traditional is a good thing. I find the lacklustre (regular) summon animation to be more of an issue than the design itself.

I am so deeply depressed because of this game.

I can't stop thinking about it.So much talent,so much anticipation,so much work and money put into this, yet its utterly mediocre.

Its significant for me because I have actually been very closely (almost to an unhealthy degree) this game since 2007.

I amnot even angry or pissed ,but just plain sad & depressed. So this is the feeling of dreams crashing down to reality.

Bow of the Clever actually works disturbingly well with Ignis' Overwhelm technique. I don't know why, but it essentially just makes Noctis keep shooting at the target (it shoots pretty fast as well) until it's either dead, you've run out of HP, or... I dunno, until it just gets bored of you firing so many shots. But yea, due to that, unless I'm missing something, that little combo inadvertently sort of makes it the best Royal Arm, or at least Top 3.

I also like the Shuriken. Heavily disappointed that it got nerfed from how it was in Platinum Demo (The one good thing about the demo no less), but it's still a decent mid-range weapon for those monsters you really don't want to get close to. Sword of the Father gives the most clear-cut passive boost, so I guess it's technically the best, not to mention it's pretty neat owning your father's sword. I also like the Blade of the Mystic, the Shield of the Just, and the Greatsword of the Tall.

Almost done. On the final chapter. Add me to the people that didn't hate chapter 13. At level 50, I didn't have any problems either and got through the first sections to the sword in about 45 minutes give or take. After the sword, even smoother sailings.

You can join the club. 2006 here and I'm super super sad that we'd get such a terribly told story after all those years. There's no excuse, honestly. This game was heavily ambitious but we are told that it isn't even complete after release.... However, nothing is mediocre in the game besides story and the world map for me for me. It fully satisfied me in gameplay and I'd argue the lies about story and the world map are my biggest complaints about the marketing.

speak for yourself, I'm enjoying myself!
Note: I too, have been waiting since '06 hyping this thing up!

I couldn't enjoy the gameplay even.

Far outclassed years ago by the KH series.Completely out done by the likes of Souls series.

I am gutted.

You're a lucky man/girl in my eyes. You're sad, i'm fucking pissed. I waited nearly 10 years for this game and this is the shit that SE gave me. Some fake ass JRPG with WRPG taint splattered all over it.

While I completely enjoyed my time with FFXV, I know that feeling all too well from another game that had a long buildup and a disappointing resolution
(Mass Effect 3.)
In my case, it was good to step away for a bit and try to identify why I had so much invested in the game. It ended up getting me through it and I came out a better person on the other end. Hope you can power through it too.

I'm sad that this's how you feel, I hope the VII remake next year will make it up for you.

I think I need to reflect on this.

I know its just a game ,but for many of us it had a lot more hanging on it.Its something thats worth reconsidering...It feels quite destructive at the moment.Like the loss of something dear.

I am trying to have a different perspective on this...

Maybe its wrong to anticipate a game so much, but then to be pessimistic about every game from here on out is not the solution.

You share the same feelings as one of my friend who was also depressed over the game. He enjoyed it for what it was and gave it 7-8/10 but he was still angry over the whole wait since 2006 and getting this product at the end.

I can understand these feelings although I don't share them. Part of the reason is because i just moved on from the past and so looking back, I never had any feelings for whatever the original concept was supposed to be.

I'm sad that this's how you feel, I hope the VII remake next year will make it up for you.
I don't think getting hyped or setting up expectations is the way to go for now.

The remake could be great ,but I was really looking forward to this because it was supposed to be something new & significant on the gaming landscape.

Witcher 3 ended up doing that.
