DOTA 2 v7.00: New Journey (Test Client Dec 11, Main Client Dec 12)

Dota 2 is superior to League in the same way that Chess is superior to Checkers.

Yes, you can argue they are different games, and they are. But one is vastly more complex and interesting.

It's actually exciting to think that the game could change so fundamentally that an MMR reset would be necessary.
I want a MMR reset because the inflation is getting out of control. We're about to hit 10k mmr players. Something like seasons or brackets could help.

How Dota players really feel about LoL players:

Because in dota people want to pick more than 20 heroes.

I dunno man, I think having only a free rotation pool is a challenge more than dota could ever handle!

The hardest choice is picking what hero to unlock after all those hours!

Yeah, babies need something to play too.

😎

I won't lie, I've played so much League at this point that I can kinda just play it on autopilot while I listen to music or podcasts, whereas Dota actually requires me to focus on what is happening so I don't make huge mistakes.

Granted that might just be because I'm terrible at Dota and have way less experience with it compared to League, but I dunno.

We're all getting baited here. We weren't even minding LoL. We should ignore the dude

my jimmies are overrustled

I am being serious. I have no intention of turning this thread into LoL vs DOTA2, because I understand the differences. What I am asking is this: the Opening is a troll with the Icefrog-talk, or just a jest that I am not let into cause I do not follow the patching of this game? If it is the latter, then discard my question.

Edit: Blizzard's inability to tighten up its policy regarding SCII balance changes is what brought that game to its knees, so I do not believe any team should consider to be above listening to player feedbacks, and listening fast enough.

If youre talking about the image thats basically an icefrog meme because every single new patch people find things to complain about only to make a heel face turn after the competitive scene has played it out and they be like; this is the best patch ever.

Valve's ability to hype up their game updates through secrecy and still manage to always over deliver on that hype is truly impressive.

I don't even play DotA2, and I'm excited!

People always complain no matter how balanced a patch is because they lose for whatever reason, they'll blame it on the game but it's mostly probably on the decisions their team made. Also it's mostly jokingly said. I haven't been playing recently but I thought this last patch was agreed to be very good and that's why it's been a long time from any big changes, now it's just to freshen things up from getting stale I guess.

It's when your lead balance designer has proven his competence again and again.
People actually look forward to changes.

Dota 2 is actually amazingly well balanced, generally speaking. I'm more of a League player myself and in League, there are usually only a handful of characters that are viable in competitive play. In Dota 2, almost every hero is viable during a good patch (and 6.88 is a good patch, we saw almost every hero get picked at TI6).

If you are judging just by balance, this Dota 2 patch has been significantly more balanced than any League of Legends patch in that game's entire history. Just as one example, about 10 heroes of 113 were neither picked nor banned during the International (which was before the current patch was implemented, improving balance). League hovers around 50% of the available characters going untouched during World Championships every year, with 59 picked or banned out of 130+ total in 2016.

To go off this, it was like what, 108/112 heroes were picked/banned at TI6? Which is crazy usage, even if some only got a game or 2 here or there. What's even more amazing is gimmicky heroes do have a place in niche strategies, i.e. Pudge, Chen (SD sendbacks), Techies/Tusk. One of the things I love about Dota that I never experienced when I played League (not knocking it, I'm sure it's changed since then).
