Yeah, he's done a great job, I quite like his character so far in his couple of scenes.

That Hulk reference by Lennie James, Morgan gonna wreck some shit when forced.

Ask he told Rick: "This shit right here (Spencer and Rosita's uprising) is burying further in the hole." I think that "hole" wouldn't get filled and Negan would just continue to put Pressure on Rick. The no-name deaths aren't a factor, it's that Rick knows eventually he does have to fight Negan to save Carl and Judith and the community.

That's fair enough but I still think there should've been a higher consequence for what Rosita did.

Also if you're Rick and you basically buy into the agreement and accept Negan's premise (which he has for x amount of episodes now), then Negan was basically pretty reasonable/correct in that scene. Rick's crew *did* do all the things Negan said they did. Rick's crew fucked up on the agreement so Negan punished them.

I know the point of the ep though is to show that Rick is done with the agreement because he realizes how futile it is and that he'll never be able to control his people, and more will just be killed and so on so at some point you have to fight. But this realization came within like 10 minutes of the episode ending, for the entire season he was dutiful. Why wasn't this a slow change/build up over time? Like he should've started to think about rebelling 2-3 episodes ago then this moment is an appropriate catalyst that triggers prior feelings.

If you want to give Rick a *sudden* realization then it has to be something extremely profound, like something happening to his kids. That's just how I feel though idk I'm just pretty disappointed in the season overall it's a lot slower/pointless than usual to me.
 
So the boots person isn't someone even people who read the comics should know, right? Because I do and I still have no clue what that is trying to tease
 
Mid season finale was slow in places but pretty good overall. Nice to see the group coming back together and that preview looked good.

Can't wait til Queen Carol comes back to go Rambo on these muthafuckas.

It's not the impact/importance of the characters that made Rick wake up. I think it's what others have mentioned. Rick can see now that there is no peace no matter how much he provides for Negan.
 
I thought the Rick/Daryl reunion was really touching, as was everyone reuniting. It quickly turned laugh out loud hilarious with everyone nodding or smiling at each other. I get the intention, but it dragged on waaaaaaaaaaay too long. Praise be to Jesus for loaning Daryl a decent fucking shirt for once.

I hope the Daryl/Maggie dynamic does get touched on, because considering the baggage with Glenn's death, I can't believe we didn't seem them reunite. TWD continues to drive me crazy with having big emotional moments off screen. We only often see the aftermaths, or it just gets glossed over.

This episode is probably the most fun I've had all season, though, and it's also the most I enjoyed Negan. JDM losing the beard freaked me out, definitely looks a lot more like his comics counterpart. I'm still finding him a bit over the top, but I thought him losing his shit over Lucille was fantastic. I'm disappointed that we lost Olivia so early, I'm curious as to who will end up filling her role from the comics.
I always like the Negan/Olivia dynamic, too.

My poor bb Aaron, ow. It was nice to see some snippets of him and Eric, though, and Rosita referencing their relationship. It's always nice for Eric to get some minimal screen time!

Great episode. No bullshit, the ending when Maggie open the gate and everything that followed got me super emotional, I had tears. I love those moments on the show.

Because Rick and his group have always had an attitude of "we don't tuck our tail and run" when shit goes bad. Yeah. What you're saying makes total sense. I think a lot people in that situation would do exactly what you suggested.

I don't disagree. But this is the Walking Dead. So sudden realizations and plot armor are the menu de jour.

What if they run into someone worse than Negan? What if they head out and find a 30k strong walker herd? Scavenging for food and supplies is harder now than it was in the past. Where can they go that's nicer than Alexandria? Running seems easy, but sometimes fighting against a known entity is better than dealing with the unknown.

They don't have a guaranteed food source (like the river/ocean for the women). Even if they did, what makes you think another Negan/Governor/big-bad wouldn't come knocking? Those folks are going to be around the world over. Running away doesn't solve the problem, it just prolongs it.

Walls, running water, power, food all sustainable. That is it, Neegan's main base doesn't even have that stuff.
 
I kinda feel bad for the actor playing Spencer. He basically just has to take all the shit for the sake of the show. His character was pretty useful imo as it's good to have someone question Rick's legitimacy, but since Rick's the main dude Spencer has to be portrayed as cowardly/asshole so the audience dislikes him. As a disliked smaller side character nobody's going to miss him even though the actor did well imo.
 
I'm a WD apostate and I was wondering if I should start watching again in February. I've read the comics up until All Out War so I know what's happened already. How has the critical reception been since Dead Glenn? Thankfully the next arc shouldn't rely on ridiculous cliffhangers and plot armor that ruined season 6.

It's still dumb like the previous seasons. If you're into that, it's worth watching for Negan's general hammy-ness. Otherwise, duck out?

I'm glad he's off the show.
Now the CW can start working on a One Tree Hill revive

All I'm gunna say is that ending was the best the show has been in over a season and a half. The story works best when all the characters are together and interacting with each other. Daryl handing the pistol over to Rick was just fantastic.

Reminded me of OLD walking dead.. Just for a split second.

Only issue I have is that we're gunna have to go through a handful of episodes showing all the communities organizing a plan together. More set up. But that's TWD in a nutshell.

Would make for excellent binge-watching because of all the buildup, week-long waits between episodes and now 2 months till till the next one doesn't help.
