yeezus is a classic, no debate.

I have been moved by this post in a way I thought not possible and for that I give you full marks.

However...

fuck is funny about reggie in a top 10 list? i have a hard time taking one serious without him

You talking that good good right now and Muddy Waters is an underrated album. Redman is superdope for sure I just don't know about top ten. Here's the thing for me the drop off from 5 to I say about 17 on my list is so small that I can easily put somebody from the teens in the top 8.

Like how is Black Thought not on most folks top ten list, when from a strictly technical standpoint he is without flaw which I can say about few other emcees in my top ten.

How can anybody that really listens to this rap shit keep Common or Scarface of a top ten list and that list be considered legit?

Kanye ain't got the skills to bang even if he has an album with an actual contender for the crown.

Opinions and all. You're probably 25 or younger. Just saying

I bet KB and Redman could rap circles around anyone that you'd replace them with. Legends
Lupe fiasco, AZ, black thought, common, doom.

Should I continue?

Edit: ice cube wasn't even on that list. But I'm the young one apparently

see i get this but it depends on what you want in an MC - if you're talking just technical you're gonna get dudes that heads love but never put a proper album together for most. if you want an overall complete package type MC, i think Mos is a great example here but past Black On Both Sides i only fuck with maybe 1 other of his albums.

Thought has a fantastic discography behind him (even if the last 2 or so didn't really resonate with me), but while i'll never argue Face or Com on someone else's list, their works have ranged from classic to stinkers/forgettable efforts. its why i tend to think most people say rank Ghost over Meth - consistency is a trait i think a lot of people wanna see in their top 10 artists. i weigh it in as well but it's not everything, for me.

but on the other hand? some dudes will put up someone like Jadakiss and for me i'd have to think: would i enjoy a random track by this dude more than i would say, Q-Tip? Cube? Kdot? etc and when the answer's no, it's hard to have them keep that spot.

but i totally see the small difference in a top 10 vs top 20 list, yeah...like, i struggle with 10 but when it's 20 i feel a lot less worried about dudes like Guru dropping off, cause i love that dude.

Yup. Consistency is what keeps Jay-Z in most peoples Top 10 including mine (8th or 9th) while Mos Def or Jay Elec or even Doom are not and its based mostly on that fact. But if I were to ask my self who's a better emcee Jay-Z would be 4th on the list of people i named.

see it's funny to see jigga as an example, cause the first half of his body of work was so strong, but since he came back after black album it's been american gangster & not much else worth holding onto, i thought

still a top 10 dude though

Is he not more relevant in hip hop than any of us gaffers?

the dude who took an L from lil b? nahh i liked some of his early mixtapes but i'd only look to him in a competition of abusing beautiful video models

So he doesn't know more about the industry than us...you just said that

budden knows all types of industry shit & it's actually pretty interesting when he speaks on it

but he thinks he's a better rapper than method man & a number of other dudes that are empirically better so no, the fact he geographically hails from jersey doesn't mean his personal taste isn't asscheeks

joey wishes his body of work was half as good as reggie, these are facts

You're turning this into a budden vs Redman thing. Which isn't what I said.

But since you did bring that up I will say that I don't think Redman has a song out better than All of me ft Emany

you made fun of a dude putting redman in his top 10, then cited jersey MC's who don't do that, that's how we got here

red's a legend, buddens aint on his own momma's top 10 MC list. if you don't rate reggie, hit up muddy waters, dare iz a darkside, doc's da name 2000, his work on el nino, blackout!, and tons of other stuff, cause he's that dude.

Red is dope. Not top 10

Maybe in one of those DBZ Universes

Fuck no.

Pac, Big, Nas, Rakim, Hov, Kendrick, Big Boi, Andre 3k, killer mike off the top of my head.

Even for production, Dr Dre trump's kanye - for rapping too

Kanye West is the best musician of the past decade easily.
Interesting. I think this is what you really need to define Kanye's contribution to the music he creates. Rap producers like Kanye do far more than what traditional music producers do.

Kanye is a musician, composer, arranger, rapper, singer and producer.

I don't think he's the greatest of the past decade as a musician.

Man that's the best laugh I've had in a long time.

And Kanye west isn't even the best rapper on any and all of his collaborative songs.
He had the best verse on Monster, tied Jay on So Appalled, and had a perfect/complex verse on Devils In A New Dress.
Not sure where this idea comes from at all.
