That article from Geekiary.com features a certain flower VERY prominently in the press image.
That flower is the same one that Jasper is wearing in the SDCC 2016 poster.

Speculation based on promo images and episode titles:
Given that the two images we have are of a pink palanquin and that flower, I think we're finally dealing with Steven asking more about what happened to Pink Diamond ("Steven's Dream), and we visit the location where she was assassinated by Rose ("Adventures in Light Distortion", which deals with search and recovery). THAT'S why Jasper was wearing the flower in the poster; it was a hint that she was actually a part of Pink Diamond's court, which was revealed in Earthlings. My guess is that Pink Diamond was killed inside of her palanquin, and the place became a memorial for Homeworld during the rebellion. The flowers are from the spot where she died.

After we visit the location, something happens that causes the Gems to try and steal something from either a Homeworld ship, colony, or Homeworld itself. They get captured ("The Zoo") and make their escape ("That Will Be All").

Just when I was getting kind of worried that the show was spinning its wheels, I get sucked back in completely with this announcement. MAIN PLOT TIME, BITCHES.

Hell yeah ! I am shocked we are getting answers about PD this soon. January is shaping up to be an amazing month.

the synopsis has filled me with in-containable excitement

Just out of curiosity, does anyone know what lends to this show's production rhythm? It seems very peculiar- more like a manga than a television show.

at the very least shortly after this season 1 of miraculous ladybug will be hitting netflix in the US :P

hmm first time i'm hearing of this series.

Take it with a grain of salt because the source is 4chan of all places, but word is Star's not coming back until April.

:/

That's long if true but i guess it shouldn't be surprising since that last ep is more being treated as a season finale (even though its a mid season episode).

Hope they get whoever created this masterpiece to come up with another soul-shattering commercial for the new episodes since they appear to be lore-heavy:

Also: wtf at "Here Comes A Thought" getting over 8 millions views on CN's youtube channel. That's more than "Stronger Than You", "Just A Comet" and "It's Over, Isn't It?" combined.

confirmed to be a bomb too

new episodes:

Monday, Jan. 30: “Steven’s Dream” –
A strange dream prompts Steven to search for answers.
Monday, Jan. 30: “Adventures in Light Distortion” –
Steven and the Gems take off on a search and recovery mission.
Tuesday, Jan. 31: “Gem Heist” –
The Gems try to pull off a heist.
Wednesday, Feb. 1: “The Zoo” –

Thursday, Feb. 2: “That Will Be All” –

!

You have remember the rule of SU titles. The darker and more foreboding they seem, the higher chance that it'll be a fun and silly episode.

It's the happy, bubbly episode titles you need to be afraid of.

Hey guys, what's going on in he-

Gem Heist sounds like it'll be a ton of fun

zoo's gonna be fucked up

I don't know what to expect from these episodes, and quite honestly, I don't want to feel like I'm being mislead into something that isn't. If we are going to have Yellow Diamond's song & dance number that we've been hearing about since this summer, then cool.

oh yay, been wanting to watch that.

in proper order or Nick's weird order?

no details on order just that season 1 will be feb and season 2 will be coming in june (not sure if it will be a weekly update there or all at once which would shoot it way past the french airing)

hmm first time i'm hearing of this series.

ladybug is an okay series... it's what you would get if you crossed sailor moon with spiderman and set it in france :P

really season one isn't great, but the very end gives hope for the future of the series, and all the talks sound like it is going to get a lot more arc based from season 2 on.

wait what?

wait what?

it's actually a french show so it's set in France. it has an English dub though.

beyond that ladybug herself is a lot like sailor moon in the sense that she transforms into her super hero mode, and constantly deals with enemies that are normal people who have been transformed into evil things.

that being said, her movements are a lot like spiderman, including swinging from building to building (though she uses a magical yoyo effectively lol) and her and her partner have a lot of wisecracks like spiderman.

the first season is very episode of the week, with basically every single one of her classmates and most of the people you meet in town being turned into a villain by the end of the season. So it's not super engaging that way. That being said that means every single character has their motivations and stories expanded, so by the end of season 1 you are sitting there with a large cast of decently well defined characters as you actually start to hit world building.

thus... I would say season one is far more intriguing rather than good with some good moments here and there but for the most part not all that good or bad. That being said the end really gives you hope that the next season will do more with the large cast, and every rumor about the next season (and when I say rumor here I am including stuff said from the creators themselves :P) will shift quite a bit and end up being more overarching story with a lot more world building.

Steven universe is hands down the better show, but there is just something about ladybug that makes me want more lol.

actually... the full theme song really covers everything including her movements that I was talking about :P

I swear the opening was inspired to some degree from the english sailor moon song just an updated version focused a bit more :P

There's an AV Club article that was posted here earlier this year that goes into some of the reasoning behind the weird "bomb" broadcast schedule that you might enjoy.

http://www.avclub.com/article/steven-universes-frustrating-schedule-crucial-its--234864

IIRC, after the success of the first bomb production shifted to incorporate future storylines into bombs instead of the weekly format the show originally started with. So now all episodes are fully developed with bombs in mind so we get these nice, cohesive, mini event story arcs/binge weeks year round instead of the traditional weekly schedule with huge gaps between seasons that other shows get.

Stayed tuned.

Nice.

The first ep is really looking like the "Steven inadvertently going in Jasper's thoughts" episode people were speculating about but we'll see.

And speaking of seeing hopefully all of that stuff is revealed and we see what really went down (that statement in the teaser pic seems very definitive).

I keep forgetting about that power; I somehow never put 2 and 2 together.
