Ive never played any final fantasy game. What game should i play as a showcase of what ff makes so great?

I only have a ff3 on ds still sealed, but meanwhile its too expensive to open and play it lol.

I enjoyed some of the nintendo rpg like etrian odyssey, strange journey and dragon quest on ds. Lost Odyssey on 360 was also great.

So where can i start?

Many are saying FFX. It's different from case to case but me it made me not touch the series for many years. I would start with FFVII (even if it looks like low poly lego) or FFIX.

VA-11 HALL-A is 15% off at 12 dollars USD. Would suggest it for anyone looking for a neat visual novel/adventure game with a novel interaction mechanic, tons of atmosphere, and really good character-centric writing.

Caveat that they still haven't put up Mac versions of the prologue/demo. :/ But yeah, I've heard great things about it.

hmm, thanks to the Steam sale I could convert a large chunk of my collection from PS3 physical to PC digital for about $58. On one hand, if I was going to replay them then I'd want to do it on PC with the higher resolution & frame rates, plus this would get me one step closer to eventually retiring my PS3, but on the other hand I have my save datas on PS3 and I'm probably not going to replay most of these anyway. I'll probably just keep my ps3 discs but has anyone else recently done this?

Towerfall is great if you like Gang Beasts for the gameplay and not just the ragdoll stuff -- there's also an 8 player version on itch.io if you'd prefer that.

Is Assassin's Creed Rogue and Liberation good? Want to get black flag since it's the last fun AC I can remember but the silver bundle for all 3 is only $10 more on Uplay. And is there any really important dlc that I should get that isnt included (legacy assassin outfits and such)?

Another good buy to me is the Age of Empires collection which includes 2 and 3.

Is this something that is supposed to happen?

Activision frequently gives up licenses, and when they do it's typically at the end of the year. But there's no specific reason to believe the Transformers license is expiring this year and the only real evidence they'll drop it is that the last few games haven't performed well. There is a new Transformers movie next year I think, so who knows.
