But it shouldn't require "a good amount" of RAM. Basically you've just leapt on the first hint of anything new you can make into a negative. Explain to me why recording gameplay when a button is pressed needs "a good amount" of RAM.
I think it'll certainly have a browser and things like Netflix. Though personally I wouldn't care about either. I have a Smartphone, so does everyone else on the planet. I'd rather keep my games machine for games and not waste resources having it do what my smartphone already does.

Honestly on dedicated gaming devices period not really. Having a browser is not a make or break thing. People have a million devices with browsers on them. Everyone has a phone or is near something with a better browser than you'll find in any console. It's not going to turn anyone away from a system. I mean honestly.
It will. While in a vacuum it's not a big deal, but the reality is the Switch needs as much positive good will as possible.
Not sure how much detail I can get into, but Nintendo seems to be "restrictive" of just "apps". It's one of the areas where they're pretty picky. If I were to make an app that wasn't a game for Nintendo hardware, I'd have to get special approval for that...at least that's the way it seems. Can't go into more detail than that, but I can see where they'd want to keep that kind of thing in check. Though, I don't think they'd stop Netflix from making an app if they wanted to.

The majority of people will care when most of what they read about Switch is negative.
Wow I actually missed that but a quick Google reveals that it actually did make headlines.
Having a user replaceable battery is a good thing to have. Especially, given the Switch concept of being able to take games on the go. People don't typically replace consoles like they would replace their smartphones. I wouldn't label that as inconsequential.

The PX2 they talked about last year (for car AI) has allegedly been replaced with a single Volta SoC now according to what was presented.
I'm guessing they don't want to compete heavily with the NS, so they didn't do too much to the Shield TV to show up the NS. The NS will probably make them way more money, so don't shit on the golden goose.

I'm no well-read, tech-literate expert, but I feel at this point Pascal Tegra's isn't just not ready for the show - it's not ready for the foreseeable future.
Would be very surprised at this point if Switch possessed anything more than a custom X1.

You know what would be funny? If the new Shield uses the chips that Nvidia designed for Switch. Maybe at normal clocks as it's not portable.
Parker came late and as is probably is not a great design to work with for mobile especially when they already have Xavier in line for this year that will take everything parker does but in a much more compact and power friendly packaging.

I didn't understand his post, so not sure what he's trying to get at.
Still, I'm only wondering why they didn't change any of the hardware in the new Shield. Wouldn't make much sense to leave it that way unless there was a reason for it. It's possible that the Pascal architecture isn't ready yet. Also possible they didn't do much with it since it probably isn't going to set the world on fire as far as sales are concerned and they didn't want to put more money into it for that reason. Put the investment dollars in their car AI system and the NS, because that's where the money is. Just an idea, but I'm trying not to be so cynical about it even though that may be the correct choice.

Drive PX2 uses Pascal, but that setup is customized to the needs of cars. I don't think any directly consumer targeted mobile device uses Pascal or will within the next year.
Parker is pretty much designed around cars as far as the chip. The fact a month after they announced Parker officially they announced Xavier indicates parker was shortlived. Xavier Takes all the power of PX2 at 80W and shrinks it down to a 20W chip.

The NVidia Shield doesn't have a screen. We also don't know what customization Nintendo has done with the chipset assuming that it has derived from the X1. IIRC, the Switch already have more RAM.
The Switch is far more than a setup box though. Still, I think they should hit the $199 as soon as possible.

Shield TV doesn't have a built-in 720p multi-touch screen. Adds quite a bit to the price tag.
I think it'll be $249 for the base model at launch, but a $199 price tag will definitely help to accelerate the growth of the install base. $299 would be a huge mistake.

I should remind people that the GC was pretty cheap and it didn't mean anything. What matters is games and value. If they can hit that point at a price people are happy with, then it'll sell. Doesn't matter if it's $200 or $350. That's the note they have to hit next week. Why should we buy this system...or better yet...why should we care? The messaging is by far the most important.

There is that possibility and it shouldn't matter to folks as long as there's value in what you're buying. I don't know why people immediately go down that route. Ultimately, price is important, but what you get for your dollar is most important. If it was all about the price, the the GC would have knocked it out of the park since it was so cheap.

If the GC had a dvd drive and used regular sized discs, who knows how well Nintendo would have done and how much more third party support they would have have. I feel as if they would be close to xbox sales or even surpass them.
Though lack of dvd drive definitely lowered the price.
