The game will also support voice chat using the new Nintendo Switch smart device app (a free, limited version of the app will be available this summer),

Doesn't look like Nintendo Network is going paid to me; I think that was a misunderstanding. What I took away from that was that voice chat and party features will be paid, not online in general.

Much like the Wii U...I can't help but think they'd have been better off dropping the screen idea and just sticking it's guts in a box and launching at a lower price.

When the cheap price rumours were flying I thought it might have done well...but at $299 it's way underpowered to appeal to the home console market...and way too expensive to appeal to the handheld market.

They doubled down on the Wii U and 3DS launch mistakes.

This may turn out to be right...

It's a jack of all trades, master of none situation.

Stupidly weak for a home console.

Stupidly expensive with terrible battery life for a handheld.

This presentation was a mixed bag. Some hype things, some not-so-hype things, and me trying to figure out whether I really want to pre-order the thing anymore. To say that they were into excruciating detail for some parts of the presentation, I think we really need to see more.

Ah, well. The Treehouse Live events will hopefully illuminate.

The price for me was the letdown. They are pricing this too high imo, when it seems according to hardware price it much lower.

There are still stuff we don't know, especially the inside storage. Not even their website with pre-order says anything about it which I find weird.

Maybe they'll release more info tomorrow (Or later today).

If it was $250 I would have pre-ordered one.

"They say The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild can be played for 3 hours on a charge." Kotaku
As these numbers are often already "sure its 3 hours on lowest brightness settings and nothing running in the background" that's seriously disappointing for a semi-handheld

They should have delayed this thing by a year. There's absolutely no advantage to them launching now. 3DS definitely had another years worth of life to it and this half assed console will do unreversible damage to the console brand after the Wii U.

No.

3DS sales have been stagnated for several years, with a slight bump with the Pokemon blitz of 2016. Not possible to continually sustain the company through another holiday without a revenue bump.

Overall the conference met my expectations. Some great looking games, very few of them for launch, region-free, and some trademark Nintendo Retarded Decisions like $70 for a pro controller. Overall average could have been much better, could have been much worse. Will buy whenever I can find it sub £250.

Jesus.DOA.

I'm in. They made wiimotes interesting to me again (enough for me to give them another chance) and that new Mario game is everything that I want.

I can understand why other people would be sour on this, but this actually exceeded my expectations.

They should've ported a bunch of WiiU games for it at launch to maybe attract people like me that never bought one.

I wish them good luck tho, the industry would be better off if Nintendo did well again with a home console.

I'm just lucky that I didn't watch the conference from what I've been hearing. They had the perfect opportunity, & they botched it.

I ought to save enough money to take a plane trip over to Tokyo, go over to their headquarters, & slap the shit out of each & every one of those that were present there.

Seeing that my thread got closed, I'll put this here:

This is what I got so far, according to Nintendo's Official site:

Launch Games:
Puyopuyo Tetris S
Super Bomberman R
Disgaea 5
Zelda: BOTW
Nobunaga’s Ambition
I Am Setsuna
Dragon QUest Heroes 1-2
Switch 1-2

2017:
Mario Odyssey
Splatoon 2
Xenoblade Chronicles 2
Skyrim
MineCraft
Dragon Quest 10
Dragon Quest 11
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe

What am I missing?

Launch seems fine to me.

Edit: Made some adjustments.

I mean, I'll say it needs more western games for sure. I hope they release a xenoblade HD (or as HD as the switch can get), as Im not getting a sequel since I cant play the first one and not a lot of people have.

Came into this more hyped than I had been for anything game related in years......and I'm just completely let down and sad now.

Nintendo has me easily, was fully ready to go all in and pre-order and spend a bunch of $$$.....now I'm just like whatever....

Group of 5 people dead set on getting the console before the presentation now range from a tepid "maybe for Mario at Christmas" to "Fuck that".

Just looking at what I'd be paying for a Switch, Pro controller and Zelda in Canada I think I'll be passing on the system until something huge like SMT comes around.
