Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers [Switch] Confirmed

Violent Ken was introduced years ago in SvC Chaos.

That isn't Violent Ken... he clearly says right there his name is OOOH-WAAAAAH!!!

if they are charging 40 dollars then they should literally put every playable street fighter character in it as an sf2 version and make it like some insane omega version of sf2.. and I mean every playable character redone for sf2 and made into sprites, so you'd have SF2 F.A.N.G, Karin, Q, etc. hell even El fucking Fuerte.

evil ryu and violent ken aren't enough

I reallllly want this, but that price is crazy. They'll need wait more than just two palette swaps characters to justify that.

The price point makes no sense, literally pretty much 2 characters with different colors shouldn't equal a 25 dollar up charge. The sf4 expansions were cheaper and included new characters, stages, music, and modes. They need to try again.

I'm hoping the price is wrong, since the Capcom unity post says pricing will be detailed later. Ono is scheduled to show up on the Treehouse stream today, so we'll get a better look at it and maybe he'll have some insight.

I actually want this, but I agree if the $40 MSRP is correct that is an overreach. Maybe they could get away with $29.99 MSRP if there are enough features. HD Remix didn't do them any favors for this game.

Capcom have been going backwards for years.

What they once would have included in a anniversary pack with 5 or 6 other games for 50 they now charge 40 bucks for alone

I liked HDR for what it was. The character art didn't even bother me so much, but the backgrounds were truly terrible. For that reason alone, I think I'll be sticking to SD mode.

Just dropping in characters willy-nilly is how you get MvC2 levels of balance fuckery.

A port of SF2 in 2017? What a time.

Street Fighter 5 wouldn't have been a good port, as there's really not a lot of goodwill left there.

This is a familiar game with the promise of fun local multiplayer. It's perfect for people who aren't interested in the meta and do not play fighting games hardcore.

Everybody born in the 80's / 90's can play Street Fighter. Being able to detach the 2 joycons and play vs mode anywhere is really cool.

What a puzzling game to go for. I know this version did have it's fans but there couldn't have been many of them.

HDR is fantastic. I have yet to meet anyone who plays FGs that doesn't have fun with HDR. It's not perfect by any means, but by some posts here you'd think it was busted or something. At worst it's a fun novelty. It's not like ST isn't without it's obvious flaws. I love it, but it's loaded with arcane tricks and broken bullshit.

I just realized this is more expensive than Street Fighter V. Oh lord.

Worth it. USF2 has an arcade mode, reverse dramatic battle, better visual design (non-HD), and a better core game (IMO).

So it's playable and the character select doesn't look like HD Remix. I'll wait for more infos.

Character select looks just like ST, as do the in-game portraits. Could be traced or entirely redrawn.

Yeah, I don't get it. They put a lot of love into HDR, and the game included the ability to play with original sprites anyway.

My worst fears. Ryu looks mostly unchanged. His air tatsu has the same trajectory, his fireball might be a touch slower, and he has teleport.

Game looked super slow, too.

The issue I have with it is that it dramatically changed the way some characters play. It might not look that way on the surface, but some of the mechanical changes to the game turn it into something that isn't ST. Take a look at Honda, for example. He went from being this character who had to take advantage of the opponents poor timing in order to do massive damage with ochio setups. In HDR, zoning meant nothing to him because he could LP headbutt through everything. Ochio was easy to throw out, and the push back from the command throw makes it almost impossible to come out of the corner with the right setup.
This fundamentally changed the way several characters had to fight him. It was such a radical difference that Honda flew up the tier list, because he suddenly had a way to deal with Sagat and Ryu. Other characters got some similar changes, while some just got nerfs for no reason. It's the balance, not the graphics I cared about.

Edit: Also, the core ST version of the game is based on the Dreamcast version of Super Street Fighter II: X for Matching Service. Not a bad version to base the game on, but it didn't give us access to the DIP settings that would make this as close to 100% accurate as it could have been. I also think they screwed with a few of the Old characters. O.Hawk doesn't feel right.

I know this isn't HDRemix but that game launched at $14.99 in 2009. This better have some major changes/additions to it to warrant a $40 tag.

It's HD Remix with two more characters. And by characters I mean shoto clones.

$40 is unjustifiable and incomprehensible.
