North American Nintendo Switch Lineup

I pre-ordered to keep my options open, but if I had to decide today I'd cancel it.

LoZ just isn't compelling enough by itself and I *refuse* to go back to playing Nintendo's game of 1 game worth playing per fucking quarter/season. Fuck that nonsense. I'm not desperate with my back log of about 60 games. I can come back in 2018 with a better battery life, lighter unit and lower price if that's how Nintendo is going to play it.

I really did wish a Pokemon and MonHun up-port was coming in 2017 though. Its my sole disappointment so far as I would've forgiven anything in year one if I had either of those games to comfortably carry the system through any drought.

So many other leaks/rumors ended up true... why couldn't the Capcom/MonHun one? :(

You and me bro. See first post on this page. Those 2 franchises are why I own a 3DS and why I will own a Switch some day. Just not today.

We still haven't seen what they have for E3. I won't say we will get those things this year, but I'm not gonna jump to consulsions

Pre-order cancelled, literally. I had one from Target, saw the launch line up and 2017 schedule, went and cancelled.

All I want right now is a high-res 3DS replacement. I will get a Switch when either Monster Hunter or Pokemon are available for it. Zelda looks great but I don't see anything else in 2017 that I would pull the trigger on, so I guess Zelda will have to wait.

It's very possible that 2017 holiday games will be announced at E3.

Some of these holes in the lineup will hopefully be filled in, so I'll wait for a revised 2017 schedule.

Doesn't look so bad to me. I sure wouldn't get it day one, but there are some big hitters here. Also a few good smaller titles.

The games will ramp up nicely, since I have faith in Nintendo's Japanese partners and first party development has had time.

People who want more Western fare should perhaps look elsewhere.

Same here, I have a Switch preordered but the lineup is very weak even from a launch standpoint. Its hard for me to justify $300 for a better running version of Zelda and a port of Mario Kart

Interested in Zelda and MK8, but that's it. It's not enough to sell me on Switch, considering the price point. Seems like a better deal for me to buy a Wii U, which has both those games, is cheaper, and has a much better library.

Yes let's remember AC Unity. What a great launch title

PS4 launched with AC4 Black Flag (which also was avail for ps3/360), not Unity. Unity was a year later. PS4 was the first console I had played in a decade really, and I LOVED it at launch playing AC4 and Need for Speed. But yeah, you are sorta right in that the console didn't really get GREAT until the following year with Destiny, TLOU, GTA 5, etc.

Still it did launch with BF4 (buggy), AC4, COD: Ghosts, DCUO, FIFA, Killzone, Knack, Lego Marvel, Madden 25, NBA 2k14 AND NBA Live, NFS, Skylanders, Warframe, and a bunch of indie games. All buyable on launch day.

Just want to say that Nintendo almost always announced a fall/holiday game or two at E3. But that still means a quiet few months.

The issue is not the Fall/Holiday. That should be fine with Mario and Pokemon. And maybe Xenoblade 2 will not be delayed.

The issue is that from April to July-August they have just 2 new games (Splatoon 2 and Arms - great ones though) and MK Deluxe.

That's very similar with the Spring-Summer of 2013 on Wii U from which they supposed to have learned a lot.

Ehh..I think Splatoon 2, ARMS, and MK 8 super awesome version is a lot better than Wii U's first Spring Summer, which IIRC was literally just Pikmin.

Lego City Undercover, Monster Hunter 3U, Pikmin 3, W101.

MK8 Super Awesome version is just a $60 glorified Battle Mode DLC if you already have MK8.

Is anything known about Arcade Archives?

I'd love for them to finally get things together and offer a robust and affordable virtual console service.

It's a Neo-Geo comp. Too bad, I was hoping it would have some of the other stuff available on PS4. Nothing against Neo-Geo of course, just that I probably have most of those games in other compilations or VC. Hopefully it's got some cool new features!

I Am Setsuna is perfect for this system, especially since they dropped the Vita version.

Kinda surprised by the lack luster line up for launch but Nintendo probably assumes Zelda will be more than enough to tide people over. Hope they still have more games to announce for 2017 at E3.

Has there been any word on the Virtual Console for Switch? Which games will be available if any? If I own VC games on the Wii/Wii U can I download them on the Switch also?

Comparing Switch to Wii U and each console's first nine months - I am personally much more pleased with Switch

Wii U games I purchased in that time: New Super Mario Bros. U, Nintendo Land, Monster Hunter 3: Ultimate, Pikmin 3

Switch games I will purchase: Zelda, Puyo Puyo Tetris, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, ARMS, Splatoon 2, Super Mario Odyssey

I actually feel pretty confident none of the above games will be delayed. And there's bound to be a couple more games that come this fall that have yet to be announced. And Xenoblade 2 might actually make it this year! (though I doubt it greatly). I'll take Switch's first nine months over Wii U's first nine months, easily.

A lot of people are blaming Nintendo here but if the rumors are true, Nintendo will have a hell of a year in 2017. New Mario, Xenoblade 2, Fire Emblem Musou, rumored Mario + Rabbids, Pikmin 4, Pokémon Stars...

Blame goes to third parties. They could have cashed in on launch day hype. Prior to this conference, there was a massive hype around the device and whoever announced a game for day one would have been the winner. EA could have brought Titanfall 2, '2K coud have ported GTA5 and Activision could have had Overwatch for launch. They are the losers, they refused potential a million more in sales. Overwatch on the go, who would not have wanted this?

Instead Switch will have only Nintendo franchises throughout the year and this would harm the console. Majority of gamer population are into FPS, sandbox and CRPG types of games, and missing them could be a major setback for Switch.

Hopefully we'll get Pokémon Stars this year.

Overwatch on the go, using what to play online. A mobile phone as a hub with Awful ping?

You can't blame third parties, Nintendo clearly didn't do or show enough to them to inspire confidence in its success.

The majority of the gaming population like those games and play them on more powerful hardware. Most aren't going to buy a new console just because games they already own are on it.

Just a handful of games and a 5 year old game as a fall title? Are you fucking kidding me Nintendo? When are they really want to try to be competitive again?

This is insane. How can you blame 3rd parties? Their goal is to make money and maximize profit. Why would you take the risk of bothering with the Switch before it's proven? What would 3rd parties have to gain? Those resources would probably provide greater return and less risk on any other platform.

It's Nintendo's job to convince people to get on their platform, they haven't done it, and they're not going to.

Pathetic. If I hadn't been waiting years to play Zelda, I would actually pass this system up at launch, something I haven't done for a Nintendo console in my entire adult life. This reminds me way more than it should of the 3DS launch where the price was just too high and the games and features too lacking to really justify a purchase. I had thought this was the console where we would see Nintendo apply past learnings, but it seems maybe not?

I wish I wasn't feeling so pessimistic right now. I wanted to be hyped for this thing. There is so much potential there, but with the complete lack of games, the missing OS features at launch, and the vague promises about the future online support it all comes together to paint a picture of yet another console that is not ready to launch at the scheduled date. Something is rotten in the state of Nintendo, and I am not sure what it is.

Probably just going to be BotW and Super Bomberman R at launch for me.

What's the story on Bomberman anyway? I don't see it up for preorder anywhere and am curious about the price. Are we talking digital only or something?

You just described two online-only games and an online-mostly game, two of which have their primary business model through IAP microtransaction gambling, something that it's not even clear if the Switch supports. Your pitch for these games is that they might sell a million extra copies (that would be about a 1.5% increase in overall sales for GTA5 and a maybe 3-4% increase for Overwatch) for people who want to play them on the go (something that's not technically possible because it doesn't support 4G data, unless by on the go you mean around your house, in which case, like, ...?)

Western third parties are never coming back, are they?

Western third parties, thats the least of the issues right now. I consider myself a Nintendo Enthusiast but I'm having a hard time justifying supporting this clusterfuck at launch. I'm tired of Nintendo treating me like I'm a stupid blind loyal customer thats going to carry them through their fuck ups and half baked ideas.

I dont wanna be a cynic but I'd argue even Zelda isnt guaranteed to be great.

First attempt at open world, some pretty barren empty fields in there.

I would suggest a wait and see approach.Recent open world games suggest that most devs dont get it right.

I'm fine with the launch list and the lineup we currently know of. I'll pick up Zelda and Bomberman for launch, Mario Kart in April, ARMS likely in May, and Splatoon 2 in the summer. And I haven't played I Am Setsuna yet so a portable/physical copy is pretty tempting. Same with Sonic Mania.

Overall, it is not bad. Could be better but definitely better than the Wii U or PS4 first nine months. And besides, it is not like my PS4 disappears. Between those two systems, I'm more than good.

Got a preorder in for the Neon colors bundle at Gamestop with Zelda, a Joycon charger, and a bag/case I think. It's three bundles they're advertising, so I opted for the first.

Zelda will keep me busy until Splatoon and Mario kart, for sure.

I got my pre-order in but am definitely having thoughts about cancelling. I already own a Wii U so what am I really paying for here if I can already get the best game(Zelda)? It looks like there will be the typical Nintendo game drought for the rest of the year as well.

How did this happen lol

Well - just wait and see. The preorder does not run away and if Nintendo doesn't deliver, you can cancel the pre-order.

I think I'll be keeping mine up just to have Zelda on launch day. That being said, I would really appreciate some efforts by Nintendo to sweeten the deal. I do have the feeling that they have slightly overpriced the Switch in one way or another... and that they might react to the negative feedback like they did with the 3DS.
