I've been thinking about their anemic launch line up and to be honest... I think it's on purpose.
I think they realize that a VAST majority of people getting the Switch want Zelda. So, prepare that and a party/mini game collection. Most consumers (aside from us on Gaf and other enthusiasts) don't usually buy 3+ games at the launch of a system due to the cost.
So let EVERYONE buy Zelda and maybe the cheap mini game collection being sold for $50 (?!!!) then ramp up marketing for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Then ARMS, then Splatoon 2, etc.
That way there's always something on the horizon. i think most of us would prefer a bunch of these games all came out at launch, but let's be honest - some games might get lost in the shuffle and overshadowed by Zelda that way.
It might actually work for them.
