Has there been any graveyards showing in this game? Was thinking about it some and don't recall seeing any.

No...

But all of my favorite Zelda games have a spooky undead dungeon. BoTW better deliver.

I guess the ruins kind of feel like graves, so to speak.

Wait...there's only 4 main bosses?!?

Well there are boss type enemies strewn about in the overworld, so those aren't missing (they even show off a couple like the Giant Bokoblin, Steppe Talus and the Sand beast where link slides around by roping another creature). It's just that for the Critical Path there are 4 bosses that you are expected to beat before taking on Hyrule Castle and ending the game.

Yeah, I'm a bit surprised too. E10 didn't exist until after Twilight Princess though.

I'm guessing that means things won't get too dark then? How can your horse blow up and still be E10? xD

Exactly..also NPCs don't look invincible either. Hmm.

Might just be because it all colorful? Weird. I was thinking the Rag Doll physics would've pushed the rating.

Oh yeah. What the heck. Some of those Game Overs involving Link's burning corpse flopping down a hill seemed alarming to me.

Hyrule Warriors gets the T but not BoTW? I feel like Nintendo sometimes negotiates with the ESRB to avoid the T rating for marketing reasons.

Fanart has begun.

The fact that Nintendo has been so hushed on dungeons and bosses really has me worried. Some are even speculating that the four beasts themselves are the dungeons though I still think there are four beasts that control four dungeons and in order to access the dungeons, you need to climb and enter the beast and heal them with the tablet Link has before moving onto the Dungeons.

The fact that 4 dungeons is one of the first things they confirmed means that shouldn't be something to be concerned about.

Just watched this video. Damn, after hanging out in the DigitalFoundry thread with all the negativity I guess I had convinced myself that this game was awful looking like a 2005 game, but it actually looks quite nice. Great atmosphere, great character model, cool lightning... I think the only thing that makes this game look subpar at times is the draw distance and the texture filtering. But other than that it's really pretty.

I'm not too concerned about 4 main dungeons. 100ish shrines and a massive explorable overworld still offers a ton of content. Also I'm sure other mini dungeon like locations will still be in the game outside of shrines, I'm confident there will plenty of puzzle solving in and out of the dungeons.

Don't orbit around Digital Foundry followers. Those people are unable to enjoy games unless games are 4k/HDR/60fps master race.

A frame dip here and there is completely normal on consoles, and unless you are looking for dips or starting counting frames, you won't even notice them.

I remember how DF demonized Bayonetta 2 for the frame drops. I thought I was getting into a stuttering mess, and I personally never even noticed them when I played the game.

I would bet a 100% on this game is going to take over a hundred hours. Probably even more.

I've spent the last while trying to translate the legend written on the back of the map that comes with the special edition. It's written in Hylian, but unlike the text in the game it translates to Japanese and I don't know Japanese. Some friends helped try to figure it out and this is what we got so far:

I'm always amazed of your translation, thanks.

I think the fact that the game uses physics will lend well to new puzzle ideas in a big way. The amount of Dungeons don't botrher me because there are puzzles everywhere and bosses in the overworld.

The only thing that bothers me is that it seems all the shrines will be the same style. I was hoping of having shrines based on caves and stuff.

Well I actually like DF, and in the video itself they're positive on the framerate, saying it's a huge improvement. But the thread for the video was weird from the beginning, the OP framed it as kind of negative and it went south from there. There's some real hate over the visuals going on in that thread. It's not good to get too caught up in it.

Sorry if someone already talked about this in the thread or it was offically confirmed, but I guess this confirms there's only 4 actual "dungeons" since it shows 4 of those big beasts. And the rest are those 100 mini puzzle chamber places?

Personally, I like Digital Foundry a lot, quasi obligatory channel if you're also a pc gamer. Their 'history of video games' series is especially great! I know it's certainly not Digital Foundry's intention, but those threads are consistently bringing the worst out of GAF's plentiful console warriors and I can't handle too much of that without seriously affecting my mental health, lol.

Anyone know since this is Region Free we'll be able to switch between all languages?

I've been playing Zelda games in Japanese since Ocarina of Time 3D came out and I'd rather not stop now. Wondering if I need to import.

Yes region free. No word on dual language for the game.

So is the old lady Zelda in the present.

my theory based off the trailer is we have a white dress Zelda in the past, and a blue dress zelda in the future. Maybe they're the same and she also went into a time freezing chamber, or maybe past zelda grew up, had a family and descendants and now here comes Link again and will now help one of her great granddaughters

If this game is really in the fallen hero timeline then the Ocarina of Time might be in her posession, allowing her to jump into the future

This has me worried too...

That image is beautiful! And that trailer alone made my staying up all night absolutely worth it. The fact that this is out in less then two months, I kinda still can't believe it. I'm so excited and reading about the timeline possibilitys has me even more hyped.

I've asked this a few pages back but I'll ask again in case anyone knows or has heard anything. Is rod fishing a possibility? Thanks

I don't know that they've said anything about fishing, but considering the copious bodies of water in the game, the fact that Link cooks food, and the Zelda team generally love fishing mini-games, I'd be really surprised if you couldn't fish.

I just watched the gamespot Zelda demo, and I have to say I though the loading tips were just for the demo, not the final game. Kinda wish they did like Metroid and load while Link rides the elevator down.

It's said a Gerudo male is born once every 100 years.

Since it's been a century since the past, and Ganon is already in full Calamity form, we might get a Gerudo male ally in the game :o

(I hope)

Just saw the adventure log menus, and the options menus. It seems there are options for:

- amiibo [USE | DON'T USE]
- invert horizontal camera [ON | OFF]
- invert vertical camera [ON | OFF]
- camera sensitivity [NORMAL (and other options not shown)]
- aim with motion controls [ON | OFF]
- change jump button [ ON | OFF ]
- fix minimap to the north [ ON | OFF]
- HUD MODE [NORMAL (and other options not shown)]
- Message Window transparency [NORMAL (and other options not shown)]

The adventure log tab shows four different tabs, one for main quests, side quests, dialogue?, and other that is spoilerish

I'm not worried about the amount of dungeons. If you remember when Aonuna was doing the Skyward Sword press loop, he talked about how he wanted to challenge the conventions of the Zelda over world and make it more like an overarching dungeon.

Unfortunately, they chose to go "deeper vs wider" and compartmentalize the over world into unconnected territories and load them with different puzzles and fetch quests and traditional dungeons. I think they came up short.

It's very obvious now that they were still designing with that philosophy, and by going open world, they are hopefully able to really capitalize. There may "only" be 4 dungeons, but clearly they have filled the over world with puzzles, enemies, bosses, etc aided by a really great physics engine that transforms the environments into something that is fun and "playable" and not just a hub.

Having a hard time with deciding if I want to buy a Switch just for this game. That trailer got me really excited for it, but it's only launch game I'm even interested in and the only other game that I would want is Mario, but yeah that's so far away.

The good thing is that I forgot until like last night that my drunk ass actually managed to pre-order a Switch on Amazon, so I guess I'll be holding onto that until I decide. Haha

I will be absoutely shocked if you can only catch fish with your hands.

I spent hours fishing the lure in OOT. It was even enjoyable in Twilight Princess. Something like that float method would be fine.

Where can this be found?
